AVG and AVAST blows donkey kong schlong. I have a glorified super computer and both of those programs completely bog down the system. I can play any game on max settings but yet it cant handle the bulky junk that is AVG specifically.
This is so true! AVG WON'T let you uninstall it. You usually have to do a complete factory restore to your PC. AND, as long as it's IN your PC, no other anti-virus program can be downloaded, or work. And lately, on my other two PCs, I've done updates for the 2012 version, and both PCs got viruses immediately after the update. You get what you pay for, people, and free programs won't protect you from squat! In fact, you're more likely to GET a virus with them. At least, with AVG, anyway,

i encountered the same exact thing befor using comodo or avast with the opiece of shit AVG. but when i had it every time i scanned it ALWAYS had an error. when i wiped my computer clean and then installed it again it still ALWAYS had 30+ errors that it had too 'correct'

@Navyfieldguy You can unintall it just go on AVG.com Then look for the FAQ Click on it Look For the one you have intalled (7.5 - 2011) open it look for the same problem you have and then it will give you a link that deletes it

Yeah, that version of AVG sucked, AVG Antivirus 2011 fixed those issues, I think. I tried it out and it worked well, still it isn't anywhere close to being the best, I'm using Norton IS 2011 now, works WAY better.
AVG 2011 is better now, because they have actually included some-what of realtime protection. I wouldn't recommend AVG, but I might eventually if they continue in this direction.

Dude I swear I get a virus like every week or 2.. AVG doesnt recognize ANY VIRUSES in the world. Even when i directly right click the virus for a scan it will never recognize it. But what makes it so bad.. you can manually add shit to the quarantine.

AVG does the same shit on absolutely clean systems. I've encountered a problem installing/uninstalling on every 1/4 computers and to make it worse I work for a company that sells this thing. AVG has an inheritance of problems with the registry when uninstalling - and then you'd just be better off to forget about trying to re-install.
The uninstaller downloaded directly from their site is just ringing the warning bells.

The only thing Avast didn't do anything (at all) about was a rogueware Antivirus which was installed from an exploit in my Firefox. It was called Avira Antivir. Links your browser to porn sites, reports them to be 'fake' viruses. When you scan, it would display many 'false positives'.
I had to do Avast's job. Registry, process, files.. Everything!

I have just learned that Avira Anitivir is indeed a good, legit antivirus software. Unfortunately, the one I was talking about, a group of assholes copied it's renowned name and used it so they could infect people.

@TheBuckbull I used to think so myself, but then I switched creit cards (Thinking that auto-renew would stop) and they obviously had a keylogger or somin on my PC, cause I gots a bill 2 months later from, and get this, NORTON SYMANTEC AUTO-RENEWAL SERVICE on my NEW card! They spied on me, and stole my identity! That's why I don't like Norton.

@belmarfilms This is so true, infact I'd had serious issues with Norton in the past. It's funny, Anti Virus programs have cost me WAY more problems than viruses EVER have.

I agree AVG sucks.. No detection and the free version has no kind of rookit or rogue protection.. so if u ever come upon a rookit and you have AVG free consider yourself screwed. Dude I swear I get a virus like every week or 2.. AVG doesnt recognize ANY VIRUSES in the world. Even when i directly right click the virus for a scan it will never recognize it. But what makes it so bad.. you can manually add shit to the quarantine.

windows add remove programs sucks....try using third party softwARE unstaller to uninstall avg...me i use REVO uninstaller....
i have an avg once it delete my important files without notice and it gives me a headache on how to recover my files..

AVG does the same shit on absolutely clean systems. I've encountered a problem installing/uninstalling on every 1/4 computers and to make it worse I work for a company that sells this thing. AVG has an inheritance of problems with the registry when uninstalling - and then you'd just be better off to forget about trying to re-install.
The uninstaller downloaded directly from their site is just ringing the warning bells.
Have had very little problems with !avast, Avira or Security Essentials.

Agreed. Avast is one of the best free Antivirus software in my opinion.
The only thing Avast didn't do anything (at all) about was a rogueware Antivirus which was installed from an exploit in my Firefox. It was called Avira Antivir. Links your browser to porn sites, reports them to be 'fake' viruses. When you scan, it would display many 'false positives'.
I had to do Avast's job. Registry, process, files.. Everything!

@4543563 That's bull, Avira is a good anti-virus program and a lot of recommended pc websites seem to think so too. I'm using it for years now and not once have I been linked to porn sites. Oh, every anti-virus program has false positives, even Avast.

I have just learned that Avira Anitivir is indeed a good, legit antivirus software. Unfortunately, the one I was talking about, a group of assholes copied it's renowned name and used it so they could infect people.
It also has multiple names; it's similar to how that Spy Sherrif works. Sorry before.

@BoneCrusher3333 it will crash ur computer or malfuction if u have more than 1 anti virus and yes u can uninstall it. you just have to do it in control panel. but yes it does suck that it doesnt just give u a delete icon when u download

the new avg sucks more than anything, the link scanner on it wil stop you from uploading vids to any site, that happened to me and i thought it was yt's fault.

@BoneCrusher3333 Well hear me now!In my virtual machine i installed AVG Internet Security 2011 to review it.After review i tried it to unistall.It won't me to unistall.It showed me some crappy errors.Oh when i installed AVG Linkscanner 2011.Next 2 minutes i tried to open it and it showed me an error and i must re enter a license.All avg unistallers fucked up i have 2 reasons why avg won't deleted
Reason 1:It want to crash your pc
Reason 2:It wont to give you viruses which won't catching them up!

well for all of u try using erfect uninstaller it forces avg to uninstall and it works ive tested it and b4 i herd of it i had the same problem as u guys so say bye to avg antvirus forever
