The chanter (melody pipe) of Highland bagpipes plays an octave & a note - low-G through high-A. The purists would tell you there are *only* 9 pitches, but there are quite a few others that can be articulated providing the player knows them and the chanter reed will support the sound production. Pitch can be changed depending on the depth of the reed, but not much. Pick-up Rodderic D. Cannon's book The Highland Bagpipe & Its Music - explains A LOT.

I know that Gordon Duncan has the copyrite to this tune, but does anyone have the sheet music?! lol...They say that you should be able to learn it by ear to be worthy of playing it... :S but would still love to find some manuscript!
