damn yeah man! After the 70's decade, when they formed The Jeff Beck Group....its a real emotion see Rod making a "surprise" to Jeff, live....look at Jeff's surprised face when he sees Rod...amazing video! Thanks a lot man!

Pulled up to a traffic light on PCH and Topanga Canyon I'm in my pickup truck.....along comes a black, convertible Porsche the guys got a guitar setting on the passenger floor with the neck skyward.....the guy looks at me and smiles, it Rod Stewart... it was just great!!!
This is sweeeet. JB is one of the last of the greats for sure! I think he knew RS was going to be there, as both of these tunes are played in a much lower key for Rod
Jeff is great. I wonder why Rod doesn't acknowledge him on interviews, he seems to always sidestep any references about Beck and I think Jeff was the main catalyst for Stewarts fame.
@atimelcin The first one is 'People Get Ready', written by Curtis Mayfield and recorded by The Impressions about 1965. The second is 'I Ain't Superstitious', written by Willie Dixon and first recorded by Howlin' Wolf in 1961.
@jayjettgtr Not as of last year... he switched out pretty much everyone in his band... probably cause he worked Vinnie and the gang to death for years.
Nothing ever changes.....somethings get better.....others don't....but one thing is for sure and will never change. JB always has half the stage and everyone else has to squeeze into whatever's left.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if this band had gone to Woodstock like they were supposed to, they would have been bigger than Zepplin by an easy country mile. Beck was always the trailblazer and the innovator. Pagey is a good player, a real technician and an expert arranger, but Beck was the big brother who showed him how it's done. Right back to the Yardbird days.
@spacemonkey1463 With all due respect, I believe Led Zep I is far better than Truth. Jeff Beck's personal issues and no showing cost him back in the day. But hey, to each his own! This is still great stuff!
Rod Stewart&Jeff Beck, Very nizzze>>>People get ready the Train is coming, don't need no ticket!!!!! Just FAITH;););););) "OUTSTANDING" Salute Ciao:):):)***:):):)
although he can't sing the way he used to I still would have lost my sh!t if Rod Stewart came out during one of the Jeff Beck shows I have been to. And to think that 6 people have had the unmitigated audacity to actually dislike this. This is a little slice of music history.
I'm sure Jeff knew Rod was coming onto the stage. As Rod came on, Jeff was ready to play a bit of the rhythm part of this song. Besides, if he hadn't known, he mightn't have prepared "Superstitious".
I wish Rod would go back to singing stuff like this or even acoustic/Faces-type stuff instead of that "song book" crap he's making now. Rod Stewart singing Cole Porter just doesn't do it for me.
Beautiful moment and performance. Wish I had been there ! I saw JB at the Olympia concert on october, 11th this year, in Paris and it was amazing. Real, captivating & always interesting music - the guy's a REAL artist. The performance her is nice too ! First track is delicate, and Rod showed the subtle, tender side to his voice. The 2nd was not as good as it was originally on "Truth", but still very good. Heartwarming anytime to see those two together ! And the bass player is just so cute !!!
Beck has always been to me the ultimate guitarist, I personally do not think anyone in rock, fusion or R&B can touch him. He is a master of the guitar, makes it truly sing.
Actually the two of them shared a stage in 1984 when Jeff was involved in Rod's 'Camouflage' tour.Needless to say it didn't last long and Jeff bailed out but there is a FM broadcast recording in circulation of the Tacoma Dome gig on July 8th. Jeff played on Infatuation, People Get Ready, Rock My Plimsoul, I Aint Superstitous, The Pump and Bad for You.
Saw the original Truth band twice in the US in 1969. Unbelievabe band. . . Ron Wood on bass Nicky Hopkins on Piano. . . . Ended up being a road not traveled. . . A kind of traditional rocking blues approach . . . with Beck's guitar and Stewars voice was unbelievable. . . They imploded and we were left with the more cosmic and excessive Blues of Led Zepplin. . . still great but I would have loved to have heard three or four more albums out of the first Beck Line up.
Rod Stewart started his career with Jeff Beck in the "TRUTH" album, but had a falling out before the Woodstock concert in which they were set to play, but Jeff backed out at the last minute. Rod was so upset that he split the band and started Faces with Ron Wood. They never played together until this concert, which explains Jeff Beck's reaction when he turned around and saw Rod on stage with him!
In 1975, Jeff played in Miami, but the main show was Rod Stewart. They did not play together!
Bad blood between old band mates? Jeff Beck had bad blood with EVERYONE. Why do you think he never kept the same band for more than one album at a time? Some guys egos are impossible to work with. Thats why I respect Jimmy Page more. Also great, but humble enough to know how to work with others over the long haul.
@kkellybass You're wrong. Jeff Beck has had MANY albums with the same musicians. I know someone who is a very good friend of Jeff's. He is a wonderful person and great to work with.
People need to get FACTS before posting wrong information.
@krit5 oh really? I was not aware of that. So youre telling me that Beck had periods where he recorded more than one consecutive album with the same band and singer? COuld you tell me the names of those albums? Im not up his current line-up, but I do recall his early stuff. Yardbirds, Beck Bogart, Appice, the Jeff Beck Group, and Jan Hammer....all before 1980. Seems like instability to me.
@kkellybass Well, first off, Jeff's albums (his solo albums, besides 'Flash') are 99% instrumental, so, to answer the question, it would be an answer towards his musicians. Consecutive albums would be 'Wired' and 'There And Back'...'Who Else?' and 'You Had It Coming'. Just type in Jeff Beck discography on Wikipedia and you can see the line-up on the albums.
@krit5 THANK you for correcting him. Good God... it's absolutely nuts that people would bad mouth someone they know NOTHING about so they look badass on the internet.
@kkellybass Sorry but that is utter garbage. Jeff has a different band every few years because he likes CHANGE. He doesn't take the route that basically every guitar player takes by never changing their style of play/backing band. He keeps changing styles over the years and that's why REAL musicians love everything the man touches.. he redefines everything he does.
Also, he is one of the most humble musicians EVER. So much as to never want to discuss music with people. Just his cars.. :)
@AxisofJustice21 Sounds like the same kind of rationalizing that guys who have been married five times use. It always because of the OTHER person, or circumstances. Its NEVER simply because they are complete self-absorbed jerks and impossible to get along with. Let me tell you, if you have been divorced 5 times, it aint them, its YOU!
I knew there was bad blood between these to old band mates,Jeff looks genuinly suprised to see Rod was this a spur of the moment thing by Rod,whatever its great to see them together again
@silviac1977 I think it was because Rod Stewart surprised Jeff by coming onto the stage with him after many years apart. Probably emotional for him/and a bit of a surprise :)
This was after Rod's throat surgery. I saw him in concert directly after he started touring again. Very difficult, retraining a perfect voice. Now, severl years latr, he is neary as great as his beginning. either way he is in his 60's and has used tragedy to create strength. I love all his songs but this song with him and Jeff Beck originally was totally aweome.
Rod has lost it. On People Get Ready there were flashes of his late 60's/early 70's live vocal genius but Ain't Superstitious was embarrasing. What is with the wails of yeahhhhhh? It's funny cos he's trying to be a 'soul man' he sounds more like Sam Cooke now than he did in his younger days. The yeah, yeah and Ain't Superstitious repeated lines were annoying. Why couldn't he just let Jeff blast away on his own like in the recorded cut. The American Song Book 'Rod the crooner' has taken it's toll
Truth was one of the first albums I bought when I was a lad - always thought this group was an extraordinary collection of talent. Great to see this - thanks.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Howcum Vinnie "The Greatest Drummer to Live Since Buddy Rich" Coliuta is always so irrevelvant in a blues context? The guy appears to be entirely without a soul of any kind, yet is the masturbatory object of every studio drummer's wet dream despite always sounding like Joe the Drummer whenever he doesn't have anything super-complex to attack. Don't you bozos get it YET?
Oh figure it out already. The (Vinny) is just there--that's all. Go listen to any Otis Redding drummer and hear what it means to be in charge without taking a song and stomping all over it with your miserable "groove."
....................... just beautiful ....... im new to Beck but i remember this version when it came out ... been a while ... awesome ... as is his influence in jaggers just another night and on blaze of glory... Beck made them songs
The original Jeff Beck Group was by a mile the greatest live band of the Sixties - saw them almost a dozen times at the Boston Tea Party and the Fillmore in SF - so let me pass on a note to each act's management... I'd gladly pay a thousand dollars to see these two cats tour together again.
some guys just have it, don't they? Look at those two, they look great and can still deliver. I like the way Jeff brings out special guests at a lot of his big city shows. I saw him recently in London when Dave Gilmour came on. It was magic.
I was at the same show. It was great. Most of musicians of Beck's era have seen their skills diminish. Not Beck. He's actually better in his 50's and 60's. He plays clean and tastfully. I understand he some type of a health nut and that might account for his youthful appearance and guitar skill improving over time.
I couldn't agree more. One of the few, and absolutely exceptional guitarist to this day. It's great to see him doing this song with Rod again too.. after all these years, the nostalgia is heartwarming to me. :o)
yeah i know, i realized that after i posted, then i tried to post and correct myself but it wouldnt let me. but thanks for gettin the word out there about my ignorance. ha.
i never realy thought about this but jeff never tries to be the best but guys like mayer and van halen always battle 4 the top and if jeff shows us wat hes made of like speed he would be rated the best but he already is in my book
awesome!

There is life after or near 60.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Howcum Vinnie "The Greatest Drummer to Live Since Buddy Rich" Coliuta is always so irrevelvant in a blues context? The guy appears to be entirely without a soul of any kind, yet is the masturbatory object of every studio drummer's wet dream despite always sounding like Joe the Drummer whenever he doesn't have anything super-complex to attack. Don't you bozos get it YET?
Signed,
Someone Who Cares.

Talkin' about "dantean".
SunnyDays951 2 years ago
Oh figure it out already. The (Vinny) is just there--that's all. Go listen to any Otis Redding drummer and hear what it means to be in charge without taking a song and stomping all over it with your miserable "groove."

....................... just beautiful ....... im new to Beck but i remember this version when it came out ... been a while ... awesome ... as is his influence in jaggers just another night and on blaze of glory... Beck made them songs

Great job by both. Nice to introduce Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions to the world.

Greatest live band. C'mon man. you are forgetting Miles Davis, John Coltrane and a host of other amazing musicians. Put it in perspective.

some guys just have it, don't they? Look at those two, they look great and can still deliver. I like the way Jeff brings out special guests at a lot of his big city shows. I saw him recently in London when Dave Gilmour came on. It was magic.

Special guests are all honoured to share the stage with a legend like Beck.

Brilliant! I do love Jeff Beck for his personality and so on. Seems like a respectful guy. Dosn't seem to be drugged up all the time. Keep Rockin.

OMG. A Jeff Beck Group reunion with Ronnie Wood would dominate the concert scene. Let's get the ball rollin' boys.

Saw JB at The Fox in joakland CA.few months back.I had not seen him live for 30yrs,he hasn't lost a lick,if anything he's better than ever!!
