On the topic of personal aestetics:

I believe that personal expression of style is important.

A fuller expression of personal style, a blending of art and existence,

for example wishing you had a darker skin tone then having your skin treated to suit this, or adjusting your height or having grey coloured eyes might express personality or desired facad more pionentally.

Posthuman aestetics may occur, but likely without more freakish features like some artist are imagining.

where do i sign up? lol. just kinding. but im going to school for AI software engineering. I think we are fairly far off as far as complex learning algorythms go, to get to a human level intelligence. but if intel chips continue to double every year then who know...we'll see.

I am personally interested in Nanite and Fermite Technology where it is and where it is going. I am also interested in Bio-engineering and intergrating it onto synthetic platforms. Hey Thor, was interested in your comments about media/cultural obsession with the body...your observations agree with mine--in addition, we also experience that we are minds trapped in bags of skin...those are two opposing views that we tend to believe at the same time. Neurosis? We obsess over the body, but yet we still feel like the body is a machine used to transport our brains; could use the American obsession over our automobiles as an analogy.

P.S. I agree with your response to buddy about Youtube as transhumanism. It was pretentious, but I guess it had to be. But the Thor thing has just pushed things over the edge. Maybe, as a fellow transhumanist, you could consider the release of the ego as a step in the right direction.

I personally think as people get to live longer and longer and learn more and more and get more experience, while also changing their brain for the better. ego will dissappear naturally because it is simply not needed anymore. I mean the very concept of ego is a human one (and is based on the concept of biology and evolution). Once we improve ourselves to the point where ego is useless, it will dissappear all by itself inevitably.

What effects do you think transhumanists (if they are able to, and if they do modify their bodies) would have on the rest of the world? IE How would some religions see transhumanists and would the world in general react to them?
