You must also realize that GT was not in any part written or endorsed by Akira Toriyama. The studio that did Dragonball and Dragonball Z owned the rights to make a new anime if they so pleased, and they did. They brought in their own writers, and made a half-assed version of dragonball, which threw away all of Toriyama-sensei's rules in the Dragonball world.

Toriyama-sensei stated himself that he does not, and never will acknowledge DBGT as part of his series.
