The version released in soundtrack form is often modified from the film version. The exact version from the film can be found in the Complete Recordings for the third movie, which is available on iTunes under "Lighting of the Beacons", I believe.

I, myself, prefer this one. Just personal preference. The basic theme as the beacons are lit, however, is the best musical moment in the entire trilogy in my book.

@ceperse Actually, The "Gondor's theme" played in "Lightening of The Beacons" begins in D minor whereas the "Gondor's theme" in The White Tree(2:37) (which also exists as a soundtrack) begins in D major. In addition, the climaxes introduciing the "Gondor's theme" are not the same in both soundtracks (A major for this one and G major for "The lightening Of the Beacons" played in the movie). Those are the only differences I noticed.

well, john williams main theme for the series (hedwigs theme) is a gorgeous little melody.

The film scene this song is from redefined the word 'epic' for me. When we went into year 2000 we lit several beacons along a mountain range where I live. I was there and lit the beacon, and when I saw the same in these movies I felt that at least something in my life was done right.
