Hi, I have been looking at some of your glass work. I really would like to try making some beads. You have done some wonderful work !!! I was wondering when you do the smaller bead stuff do you have to have a kilm to fire and cool them down, so that they don't crack or break ? I was also wondering if you could tell me how to get started ? Thank you so much for the nice vid. I'm sure you been doing this for awhile. :) Wonderful work !!! Any info you can share on how to get started, would help.
Awesome instruction! But I have a question. Is there a reason that you chose to use the stainless steel rods on each end as opposed just using the glass? Is there an advantage? Because I thought that if you stick hot glass to a rod with no bead release on it, it's on there good--unless you heat it up again to get it off, but then there might still be glass residue.
Two reasons for the metal rod. One was just to show a different technique. The other is that I can build larger gathers of hot glass without loosing control. The metal punties won't sag or melt with the heat. Just another way of doing something. Try it! The glass does stick but a dunk in cold water solves that!
thankyou for your videos, they're all very clear and helpful. I was wonder, why did you use the black stringer to fill the gap at about 4:20? what does it do? second, what do you find is the best way to remove the glass from the end of the metal rods, do you heat them up and then dip them in cold water?
Thanks so much for you help. I am just starting out. I have HH torch and using soft glass. I would love to make an implosion pendant. Tried several not working. If you could do one of your great video's , I would be so happy. Thanks for everything , Your video Rock.
As a novice to making glass beads, your videos are a real inspiration both for colour mixes and techniques. They back up my small amount of tuition and a moving picture and commentary are so much clearer than the books. Fantastic and more please!
Thanks so much for this Ross - beautifully made twisties and very well demonstrated and explained. Are you going to post any new videos soon for other techniques? I keep checking your videos hoping for more :-)
Yes, you just have to be careful not to heat the clear rods too much. I only use the metal rods if I am building larger more complex stringers. Most folks just use spare glass rods, I was just showing another way to make stringers.
lloks like you are running a minor? I think I will have to post more videos of me flameworking boro in the future! I like what you are doing in these videos. keep it up.

Nice work Ross. I need to practice making the larger stringers. I still get mine too small. But you make it look easy here.
