  • elle est belle !

  • C'est mon prénom et en plus je joue du piano !

  • Where can I find the sheet music for this?

  • What Opus number is this?

  • She has the strangest resemblance with princess Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein - Liszt's suposed wife (not that this is relevant). Anyhow, love her compositions.

  • Her smile is subtle staring in the privacy of her own soverein mind in rememberance

  • Her smile is sublte in remeberance, staring in the privacy of her own mind of some beautiful moments.

Privacy and freedom Go Hand in Hand. 147 417 =178=6

  • Her smile is subtle its as if shes remembering staring into the past of a romantic interlude.

Freedom and Privacy go hand in hand.

  • absolutely wonderful! This may be my favorite piano sonate created by Robert Schumann. And Clara Schumann is the first femal pianist in Europe.

  • @ScavEnSerranis This was composed by Clara herself. It's not Robert's composition.

  • Probably the most listened to pianist of her century-no one else even came close to the number of concerts she gave.Look at those large hands and weep ladies. No wonder she was praised and admired for her work.

  • wunderschön! Danke!

  • she had sure a great sensibility...this composition is absolutely romantic and full of emotions!

  • So does this composition means that she was sad about her marriage at 15? thank you for answering

  • @aditactriz

She was not married at 15. She was a day shy of 21.

  • beautifull!!! but nothing like Chopin!!

  • A year before Robert's attempted suicide...poor woman.

  • How about Brahms. Plrease see the research from Mr Ernest Hin-leung SO with the title 'Brahms and Clara Schumann' . Please see the following link:-

IIt is a pity to note that you describe 'she had zero impact on the way music was written.'

I try to respect others' comments on Clara Schumann.

  • How about Brahms.

  • This is my first discovery of Clara..

Chopinesque yes, but her signature is so melodic..

So kind to upload such a master recording..

    D

  • I am a fan of Clara Schumann, both for her strength and character and for her music. She wrote some lovely pieces. She could write a decent little fugue. But to suggest that she was on the same level as Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, and it was only because she was a woman ... sorry, that's going too far. For example, both Robert and Brahms wrote stunning pieces, totally distinctive, marking them out as important new "voices" right from the very start, in their earliest pieces.

  • @phospholipasec it is undeniable that Clara's composition are of great depth. They can be as charming and great as those of her husband. In a society dominated by men, the talent of a lady was always undermined. From my understanding, Clara was submissive to Schumann.

  • Clara's compositions are as influential as those of her husband. Yet, they are less popular hust because the composer is a lady.

  • @MrEbaby2010 what a ridiculous thing to say...

  • @MrEbaby2010 Sorry, how are Clara Schumann's compositions influential? Few of the great pianists have recorded her pieces, composers did not study them, and now, even in a much more liberal society, her compositions are still not popular.

Come to think of it, have there been any lady composers that are performed in the mainstream repertoire?

  • @demosj I wish you can study in greater depth of the compositions of Clara Schumann, both piano works and orchestrial pieces, before concluding that she was not influential. Bach's music was not really popular when he was alive. It is Mendelssohn who brought his music popular. Shall we say that BACH was not influential? Nowadays, Clara's music has received more attention. There are som many uploads of her music in the utube. Let's study her music with our heart.

  • @MrEbaby2010 You still haven't explained how her compositions were _influential_, which does not mean popular as you seem to think it is. If it were, composers like Blumenfeld and Mosolov would be more "influential" because there's a couple of vids on Youtube. I haven't found any sources indicating that her style of composing influenced her contemporaries or had any impact on how music was written.

  • @demosj Have you studied Clara's compositions in greater depth? I read your msssages and considers that you made an equivalence between 'influentical' and 'popularity'. It is you who wrote ' Few of the great pianists have recorded her pieces, composers did not study them, and now, even in a much more liberal society, her compositions are still not popular.'.

  • @MrEbaby2010 In the context of classical music, they say a composer is influential when he revolutionizes instrumental technique, such as Chopin or Liszt, or inspired their contemporaries or future generations of composers, like Paganini to Liszt, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff, and Chopin to Scriabin, or innovated in the way music is written, with techniques such as counterpoint or thematic transformation, harmonic language, or created a theme that inspires variations, again invoking Paganini.

  • @MrEbaby2010 If I'm mistaken, I will gladly acknowledge my error. I don't think I wrong though, because If you did have any example of Clara's influence on composing you'd have posted it.

Did Clara influence the great composers?

It's a yes or no question, you don't have to try and find irrelevant contradictions in my comments. That would only prove that I was careless, not that Clara was influential.

  • @demosj

    .performnow.hk/brahmsandclara.htm

  • @MrEbaby2010 Okay, still not as influential as Robert, but thank you. I withdraw my comment that she had no zero influence on how music was written.

  • @demosj Let's study her music with our heart and explore teh lyriciams and musicality embedded.

  • simply wonderful! May I ask you where did you found the sheet music of this piece??
