If I am not mistaken it was Gaylen Smith who had them in his chutes and after his pass he deployed the chutes and Tommy's ashes where free. GOD SPEED TOMMY

@littlemoney41 - You are exactly right. It was Gaylen who graciously gave Tommy Adams his last pass down the drag strip.

Tommy was one of my best friends. He lived for drag racing. This crash occured in 2004, but he lived until January 2011. The car was rebuilt but Tommy's failing health prevented him from ever driving it again. I will never forget Tommy, he was a unique character. This car was an original 1969 Camero Z-28. I rode in it MANY times before Tommy took it off the street. I used to kid him by counting the original parts left on it and the last time I counted before the crash there were 12 parts left.

i think the one guy should be charged with murder because he didnt let off if he let off it wouldnt have hit the wall and shot into the other lane but your friend made helped make a improvment on or saftiy sorry for my bad spelling

He was seriously injured but mostly recovered. But his health was never the same, and he later died of unrelated causes.

To Taylorp60 ya your not the fat kid.. I am!!! And that's my dad and Rick cowger to the side of me the guy in the car lived. He was air lifted out. The other guy didn't race again after that day.

I think the safety barriers should be improved and extended further down the track. Strange how the car in the right lane got out of shape so quick. Sounded like something broke to me.

Wow!.....I was wondering about that car. i didn't know they had an accident so bad. I used to go with my kids to the track around that time. Sad. Tommy, i never met you but i was a fan!!! RIP.

OMG! I have been looking for this video for YEARS. I am the ltitle fat kid in the white shirt at the beg. of the vid. Was around 10 years ago I guess this happend.

I have to wonder if the outcome of that crash wouldn't have been as violent if the guardrails extended further into the shutdown area not allowing the car to get to the grass and dig in. If they were, it looks like the car would have impacted the rail upsided down and probably slid back towards the center of the track and more than likely wouldn't have rolled. I know these little outlaw tracks are a bit behind safety wise but one can only wonder. Sorry that he passed away!
