Well I had chocked my prob up to being a night owl. lol But honestly I have tired drinking a tea called "Sleepy time tea" It has Chamomile (hope I'm spelling that right lol) and other teas combined. It's very soothing and it does kinda lull you to sleep. Another thing that may you is meditation before bed. Just zoning out and meditating has been helping me a little better. I used to stay wide away til about 6 or 7am, but it's been working and I feel sleepy earlier now. Hope this helps you :)

The ladies are right Dollface. You should try a bedtime routine. A warm shower, a glass of warm milk or a glass of warm tea with chamomile health food store really cheap), maybe a sleeping mask or a pillow stuffed with dried lavender. Pull the curtains closed and make the room dark and soothing with a sound machine of the sound of rain or soothing music. Also, relax your body before bed by cutting out all extra excitement like talking on the phone or getting on your computer. Praying helps.
I don't know if this will help at all but when I can't sleep I drink a cup of warm milk and i turn on some jazz or blues turn the volume down intill its loud enough for you to hear but not disturbing that sense of relaxation after that I fall asleep ^.^ I hope it works for you.
For anyone dealing with sleep paralysis, please research astral travel or o.b.e. I use to be terrorized by these events but now i look forward to them. =)
my name is odysee i had it before but i had a women screaming in my ear and a bang of people just talking in my ear and i stand up until 4 clock n the morning to go to sleep because it always happen at the time 3 n the morning but what i did was read my bible every time and prayed and asked what was going on and i had my pastor pray over my room. and that was scary but all you got to do is tell that demon its not welcome (n the blood of Jesus) with attitude be rude with it!! dont cuss

Hey Dollface(: this is what you need to do. get some lavendar bubble bath for babies to help them go to sleep n u make a nice hot bath n soak n just relax. lavender helps sooth ur nerves n helps u go to sleep as well(: hope this helps!
I have this problem myself! One thing that works for me is to get some Sleepy Time Tea or Camomile Tea... either works really good. Someone made mention of Melatonin and that works well. But like everyone else suggestes, use that time to pray. GOD has a way of calming all thoughts and fears (not that you're affraid to sleep). It's just sometimes, because you have so much going on in your life right now, your body and mind is always going. I hope things work out for you!
@sashie8776 Wow I just read this comment. I see I'm not the only one hip to that tea. Lol. It does work very well and tastes good too :) But it is wise to pray and meditate before bed. God will help ease your mind and your subconscious.
With sleep paralysis since you're half awake and half asleep it allows you to hallucinate alot more easily so its really just your mind messing with you. So don't be worried.

I'm up now.. I'm suffering from the same thing.. The sleep paralysis runs on my daddy's side of the family.. My mom told me not to sleep on my back or eat pork late at night.. Usually when's it happens something is breathing heavily in my ears.. At I sometimes feel like I'm hovering over my bed.. It's really creepy.. So I usually call on Jesus and it stops.. hey idk if anyone suggested this already but have you ever consisdered melatonin pills? its completely natural and you dont need a prescription for it. its the same actual hormone thats in our body that regulates our sleep and wake cycles, but the pills they sell is just a vitamin, not hormone. they sell them @ walgreens for like $8. and if your not into the whole "pill popping" thing you can try working out/stretching before bed @ night. it'll kinda tired you out and help sleep come easier.
Read a good book/magazine, Meditate, or Play game boy until you get tired. When you hear that little girl giggling again, don't be afraid. It's just your mind playing tricks.
Whenever I have sleep paralysis I was told to call out Jesus. I know it sounds crazy but I promise it really does work. Of course read the bible, pray but what has for sure worked for me is calling out Jesus. There is power in his name.

Well i have been having this same problem for yrs now so i know how you feel and what you're going through umm i recently got me a schedule going to where i could go to sleep a little earlier than usual but 2 days ago i started back going to sleep around 6 or 7 now i have a relaxation program that i listen to on my iphone and it really helps it also has a built in journal just to see if you have made progress in your sleep after using the program

The same thing happened to me twice last week, I ended up not going to sleep at all. I tried sleeping on my stomach and on my back, and the same thing happened, oh boy, I freaked. ... sleeping pills didnt work at all, lol. I ended up just sleeping with my tv on.

I have had sleep paralysis too many times in my life especially when i was younger but as of lately i havent had it. For me it feels like i want to wake up but i cant as if some one is holding me down and i have to fight to get out of their grasp which i eventually do after a while of struggling to get my self to move.....sometimes i would hear voices as if i was dreaming but who knows what it is

It helps me if I like stretch really well before i go to sleep or if i exercise, and if you have a long hot shower/bath it ill help A LOT ! Trust me. are you sensitive to caffeine? that always keeps me up, and try to have time where you're unstimulated by lights and noise at least 30 minutes before sleep.
I have that every now n then but not as often as I did when I was in high school. My mom would tell me that it's da devil and usually I would hear him talkin to me...he would tell me if I moved or screamed he would snap my neck and kill me. Not tryin 2 scare anyone but as soon as he would put his weight on me I would jus in my mind call on Jesus and it's like angels would come n knock him right off my chest. Just pray about it sweetie! It's because you are battling yourself subconsciously. Trying to battle your good side versus what your evil side wants. Once you stop fighting and go with the flow your sleep paralysis will stop.
I should know. I've been through it. Once I start battling myself then they come back. In your dreams before waking up it becomes painfully obvious that you are in a spiritual battle. When I say "spiritual", it just means "beyond the natural realm".

I don't know why I get it; I eat healthy, I get 6-8hrs of sleep regularly, I exercise weekly and I don't take any drugs. I'm not sure, but it may be hereditary. My mom once told me that it used to happen to her, so I dunno. I also have lucid dreams quit frequently (but I'm not complaining).

ugh i hate sleep paralysis its really annoying when it keeps happening to you. but it hasn't happened to me in a while now thank god. maybe you should take something that helps you go to sleep.
You just need to clear your mind. Writing in a journal just before bed is a great way to get all the thoughts racing through your head out.You may not even realize how much is on your mind until you start to journal.Its very therapeutic and relaxing.Sweet dreams.
I can't for the life of me go to sleep early whether I have a nap or not, and will stay up watching God knows what til 3,4,5 in the morning when I know I have stuff to do... Sleep paralysis is the scariest thing ever, because when it happens to me I can't make a noise and feel like I can't breath.... Melatonin is a natural supplement to aide restful sleep or something like that, but it didn't help me most of the time when I actually remembered to take it... I hope you get it all worked out tho
I think everyone has already given some pretty good responses but this is what works for me. No naps whatsoever during the daytime (not even a 15 minute power nap), work out 45 minutes -1 hr (but not late in the evening) , no caffeine after 6pm, a completely dark bedroom (black out curtains if necessary), no computer/ internet etc at least 2 hr before going to bed, some people like sleepy time tea (never worked for me but..), and if push comes to shove a little benadryl never hurts. HTH

i asked my psychology professor about that. i have bad sleep paralysis as well. he says that its basically your body isnt waking up when it should. i always get it when i fall asleep under my blanket its scary. i just try 2 relax and it normally stops

Theres diff ways to fix your sleeping problem tho..like you can either stay up one whole day with out sleep and wind up going to sleep like about 8 or 9 (early)..Simply Sleep by tylenol or Unisom have worked for me when i had a sleep problem...theres also this purple canned drink called "drank" they sell at corner stores and gas stations that has seratonin that relaxes you and has also worked for me.
You go through sleep paralysis because of a certain way you sleep like if you sleep face up you're most likely to go through it... just sleep on your stomach or side

but one thing i do to help when i can't go to sleep after laying down so long for several nights is staying up for a whole day, then by the end of the day you feel like going to bed at a time like say 9 or 10 and sometimes earlier and you wake up early (unless u sleep forever) so by night you'll be sleepy again and it puts you in like a habit (it works for me)

Maybe you should try listening to yourself breathe while listening to soundscapes or this channel on pandora called calm meditation... it usually helps putting me to sleep when I can't. Hope this helps :)

@PCG2198374 Yup! I love this stuff. I have the Sleepytime Extra it has Valerian in it. I used to take a supplement called relax and sleep that has valerian and melatonin and it works like a charm for me when I can't sleep and I also suffer from sleep paralysis at times
What u need to do is try to train your body, when your sleepy during the day try to stay up find some type of activity to do to keep yourself busy during the day that way your tired by the time you go to bed....I had the same exact problem...this worked for me.
hmm..if u have caffeine, u need to cut that out in the evening, cos if i have coffee at 4pm i wont sleep at all! so maybe its the same for you?and i also get sleep paralysis(which scare the heck outta me)and i think its caused by stress nd/or lack of sleep.so mybe try hvng a warm bath b4 bed, putting lavender oil on ur pillow is good too, drinking warm milk or herbal tea (not green it has caffeine) like camomile catnip anise or fennel tea, listening to slow soothing music.yep hope this helps :Dx
I know how you feel it's a struggle for me everynight to go to sleep. i take allergy medicine every once in a while to knock me out. I'm awake during the night then fall asleep in the late afternoon of the next day.
i be the same way at times..this time change has me all f'd up but i use to eat things with milk products in them like icecream and cheese fries..did i mention it helps you get thick too since your eating heavy before going to bed .. so i slept peacefully and woke up with a butt lol

my name is odysee i had it before but i had a women screaming in my ear and a bang of people just talking in my ear and i stand up until 4 clock n the morning to go to sleep because it always happen at the time 3 n the morning but what i did was read my bible every time and prayed and asked what was going on and i had my pastor pray over my room. and that was scary but all you got to do is tell that demon its not welcome (n the blood of Jesus) with attitude be rude with it!! dont cuss

Hey Dollface(: this is what you need to do. get some lavendar bubble bath for babies to help them go to sleep n u make a nice hot bath n soak n just relax. lavender helps sooth ur nerves n helps u go to sleep as well(: hope this helps!

I have this problem myself! One thing that works for me is to get some Sleepy Time Tea or Camomile Tea... either works really good. Someone made mention of Melatonin and that works well. But like everyone else suggestes, use that time to pray. GOD has a way of calming all thoughts and fears (not that you're affraid to sleep). It's just sometimes, because you have so much going on in your life right now, your body and mind is always going. I hope things work out for you!

With sleep paralysis since you're half awake and half asleep it allows you to hallucinate alot more easily so its really just your mind messing with you. So don't be worried.

I'm up now.. I'm suffering from the same thing.. The sleep paralysis runs on my daddy's side of the family.. My mom told me not to sleep on my back or eat pork late at night.. Usually when's it happens something is breathing heavily in my ears.. At I sometimes feel like I'm hovering over my bed.. It's really creepy.. So I usually call on Jesus and it stops.. My friend also suffers from this, and she says some man is always on the foot of her bed.. As far as not sleeping, mines got better .. But

hey idk if anyone suggested this already but have you ever consisdered melatonin pills? its completely natural and you dont need a prescription for it. its the same actual hormone thats in our body that regulates our sleep and wake cycles, but the pills they sell is just a vitamin, not hormone. they sell them @ walgreens for like $8. and if your not into the whole "pill popping" thing you can try working out/stretching before bed @ night. it'll kinda tired you out and help sleep come easier.

Well i have been having this same problem for yrs now so i know how you feel and what you're going through umm i recently got me a schedule going to where i could go to sleep a little earlier than usual but 2 days ago i started back going to sleep around 6 or 7 now i have a relaxation program that i listen to on my iphone and it really helps it also has a built in journal just to see if you have made progress in your sleep after using the program

The same thing happened to me twice last week, I ended up not going to sleep at all. I tried sleeping on my stomach and on my back, and the same thing happened, oh boy, I freaked. ... sleeping pills didnt work at all, lol. I ended up just sleeping with my tv on.

I had the same thing happen to me before the only difference was I would see myself 'performing an exorcism on a lil girl to take the devil out of her' and I was to the point where I actually was scared to go to sleep (well not 'punk' scared just I wanted to avoid it) chamomile tea helped me doze off but the whole sleep thing kept happening. It helps me if I like stretch really well before i go to sleep or if i exercise, and if you have a long hot shower/bath it ill help A LOT ! Trust me. I have that every now n then but not as often as I did when I was in high school. My mom would tell me that it's da devil and usually I would hear him talkin to me...he would tell me if I moved or screamed he would snap my neck and kill me. It's because you are battling yourself subconsciously. Trying to battle your good side versus what your evil side wants. Once you stop fighting and go with the flow your sleep paralysis will stop.
I should know. I've been through it. Once I start battling myself then they come back. In your dreams before waking up it becomes painfully obvious that you are in a spiritual battle. When I say "spiritual", it just means "beyond the natural realm".
It is debatable that dreaming is spiritual.

I'll have sleep paralysis every once in a while - maybe about once every 6 months. I don't know why I get it; I eat healthy, I get 6-8hrs of sleep regularly, I exercise weekly and I don't take any drugs. I'm not sure, but it may be hereditary. My mom once told me that it used to happen to her, so I dunno. I also have lucid dreams quit frequently (but I'm not complaining).

You just need to clear your mind. Writing in a journal just before bed is a great way to get all the thoughts racing through your head out.You may not even realize how much is on your mind until you start to journal.Its very therapeutic and relaxing.Sweet dreams.

I can't for the life of me go to sleep early whether I have a nap or not, and will stay up watching God knows what til 3,4,5 in the morning when I know I have stuff to do... Sleep paralysis is the scariest thing ever, because when it happens to me I can't make a noise and feel like I can't breath.... Melatonin is a natural supplement to aide restful sleep or something like that, but it didn't help me most of the time when I actually remembered to take it... I hope you get it all worked out tho

I think everyone has already given some pretty good responses but this is what works for me. No naps whatsoever during the daytime (not even a 15 minute power nap), work out 45 minutes -1 hr (but not late in the evening) , no caffeine after 6pm, a completely dark bedroom (black out curtains if necessary), no computer/ internet etc at least 2 hr before going to bed, some people like sleepy time tea (never worked for me but..), and if push comes to shove a little benadryl never hurts. HTH

Theres diff ways to fix your sleeping problem tho..like you can either stay up one whole day with out sleep and wind up going to sleep like about 8 or 9 (early)..Simply Sleep by tylenol or Unisom have worked for me when i had a sleep problem...theres also this purple canned drink called "drank" they sell at corner stores and gas stations that has seratonin that relaxes you and has also worked for me.

You go through sleep paralysis because of a certain way you sleep like if you sleep face up you're most likely to go through it... just sleep on your stomach or side

i know your pain!...except instead of a little girl laughing i start reciting parts of the bible i never even read/heard of before
but one thing i do to help when i can't go to sleep after laying down so long for several nights is staying up for a whole day, then by the end of the day you feel like going to bed at a time like say 9 or 10 and sometimes earlier and you wake up early (unless u sleep forever) so by night you'll be sleepy again and it puts you in like a habit (it works for me)

It just means you're physically still sleep but mentally awake. As for the laughter yeah you might want to send that to Jesus. Had that myself when I was younger but not anymore thankfully. *Knock on wood*

i was so scared when it happened to me...i aint even know about sleep paralysis until i looked it up after it happened to me. but i heard some demonic language gibberish that i couldn't understand, and i thought the devil was holding me down and talking in my ear. lol i started calling Jesus name (in my head cuz i couldn't speak).

yo that happens to me all the time, usually when i have a bad dream. i wuld kno im dreaming and i wuld be super scared cuz i cant wak up.i literitly feel paralized n i cant open my eyez. almost like dreaming while im awake only i havnt woken up yet.i usually dnt fall asleep until like 3:00 in the moring and sumtimes even later when i sleep too long tht day. hell if sumbody culd tell me sum ways on havin a consistant sleeping pattern id like to know my damn self ha ur not the only one boo

oh yeah i hate when im paralyzed, it feels like im dying & my breathin also trys to stop too.
They told me you get that way b/c youre TOO tired or your mind wakes up but your body is still asleep, some crap like that.
I just stay up and watch TV, lol sorry im no help.

Maybe you should try listening to yourself breathe while listening to soundscapes or this channel on pandora called calm meditation... it usually helps putting me to sleep when I can't. Hope this helps :)

You could think of all the things you would pray to God for. I have slept better when I try to recite as many prayers as I can remember.

@PCG2198374 Yup! I love this stuff. I have the Sleepytime Extra it has Valerian in it. I used to take a supplement called relax and sleep that has valerian and melatonin and it works like a charm for me when I can't sleep and I also suffer from sleep paralysis at times

What u need to do is try to train your body, when your sleepy during the day try to stay up find some type of activity to do to keep yourself busy during the day that way your tired by the time you go to bed....I had the same exact problem...this worked for me.

hmm..if u have caffeine, u need to cut that out in the evening, cos if i have coffee at 4pm i wont sleep at all! so maybe its the same for you?and i also get sleep paralysis(which scare the heck outta me)and i think its caused by stress nd/or lack of sleep.so mybe try hvng a warm bath b4 bed, putting lavender oil on ur pillow is good too, drinking warm milk or herbal tea (not green it has caffeine) like camomile catnip anise or fennel tea, listening to slow soothing music.yep hope this helps :Dx

I know how you feel it's a struggle for me everynight to go to sleep. i take allergy medicine every once in a while to knock me out. I'm awake during the night then fall asleep in the late afternoon of the next day.

i be the same way at times..this time change has me all f'd up but i use to eat things with milk products in them like icecream and cheese fries..did i mention it helps you get thick too since your eating heavy before going to bed .. so i slept peacefully and woke up with a butt lol
