  • perfect music

  • Camera man... Get out of the way!!

  • is this little BAG that is hanging out the Parachute?

God damn it, those packers have skill

  • the cypress or what?

  • @tiwliwla99 no. cypres activates the reserve. Probably a busted main closing loop, or a disloged closing pin. combined with a bag lock mal.

  • He should have tried pumping the brakes

  • Malfunction videos really bring out all the 100 jump experts don't they....

  • Disconnect RSL, Chop, continue RW... :)

  • baglock! immediately execute SOS procedure: throw, arch, look, pull, arch, check!!!

  • WTF was the camera flyer still doing there? On the first sign of an open container (on exit it is already showing) you get the hell away from the top of the formation! Didn't you SEE it happening or what?

Hint: if you level with the team and make the pull sign or wave off, they'll get the message. And why are people staying so close. Hang back, see if he's ok, but give him room on all sides for cryin' out loud... This could've ended up real bad, everyone's lucky it did not.

  • Wow, awesome horseshoe to baglock footage.

  • Could be a lot worse, an open container inside the aircraft is a danger to all inside.

  • is the parachute ok?

  • Nice job staying with it on video.

  • WHat is a bag-lock again?

  • Translating what he said at 0:38 "sai pra la mano" get the fuck away from me mate!

pq q deu essa pira ai manow? dobrou errado?

  • MALFUNCTION! Look, locate, cut, away, pull reserve, arch......at least, thats what it was in static line...may be different here

  • I'd just like to take a moment to thank all the old salts that learned things the hard way and taught us relative newcomers how to do things properly :)

  • I can't say how pleased I was to see his pilot chute follow the d-bag - that could have been much worse.

Scary to see the container open while exiting the aircraft. I guess the skydiver got "the mother of all bollockings" after landing, for not taking care of his closing loop.

(Anyone worried about horseshoes should search YouTube for Brian Germain's video about folding your pilot chute)

  • man that sux

  • This is why I love being a camera man.

  • gd thing his pilot chute came out, else that couldve been a lot nastier

  • wait,

so the guy accidently deployed that other guys parachute ??

    is that what happened?

  • @zx6rtt

No, his container was open on exit, it was only a matter of time for air to catch it and deploy into what could have been a sick horseshoe malfunction.

  • where's the other half of the story? Did the camera malfunction too? (*#$%^

  • And this, boys and girls. is why we do pin checks

  • hmmm.....time to buy a new BOC pouch

  • Nice vid :)

  • Crap rigging/packing. If that had come out at opening height the result might have been nery different.

  • @tpsossff right, new BOC necessary..........

  • @mixile1 The BOC was fine! Look at the video again. His pin came out and he had a HorseShoe malfunction and then the PC came out of the BOC.

  • @Morrison0420 ...yes...so that, PIN CHECK!

  • "he was did a cutaway and open reserve"

Mmmm me hopes you and your teammate's skills are better than that!

  • Why the parachute opened? It wasnt his mate ?

  • wow, was that like 3 malfunctions in one?

  • @bcarson5 hihihi....you right, this made me laugh ( since nothing sad happened ) it was 3 malfunction in one!

  • Lucky his rig was a "pull out " system so he had a clear bag lock and not a horseshoe which is more dangerous and not so easy to clear.

  • They are so lucky that was a bag lock, can you say massive gift wrap if that opened properly?

  • It live remained or not?

  • @parastalkerFLY Er what?

  • good video of a rare malfunction

  • well what was it? besides a shitty pack job I'm sure

  • @JDegtoff

Actually if you go full screen you can see first the bag comes out (so the pin has come out) Then the bag goes up and actually pulls the pilot shute out quite quickly, then the lines dont unravel from the elastics so he has a bag lock too.

I reckon the closing loop was too long, or it broke. That probably started it all.

  • Actually its a premature, then a horseshoe and then a bag lock. Next thing you know his rig is going to fall off.

Pretty good for a days work...

  • Time to get rid of D bag.

  • great camera work

  • If we look close we can see that the group exit with the main container already opened. Was luck that they didn't have a main deploiment at door. SCARY!!!!!

  • scary vid but good music could someone tell me th e name?

  • Coldplay - Trouble

  • Thanks!

  • I would have cut away straight away, but i'm a novice, If he (or she) is experienced, and they are still up at like 10000 feet even down to like 5000 feet then they may have felt they had time to try to get the bag to open, as long as they didn't waste too much time trying. (cut away by 3000 at the least) would love to see what happened next...

  • @unciePaul if i was in this situation i wouldnt cut until 3kish not because i would be trying to open the bag, just beacuse if i chop that high theres a 0 percent chance of me ever finding my gear. u should never waste ur timing trying to clear baglock, its not going to happen lol

  • I think his two friends hung around just to make sure he was fully aware of what was going on , must be at about 10,000 feet by the time they broke away, he is jerking the risers hoping the chute will deploy & maybe it will be good prior to a cut away, not a choice of action for a novice & a brave choice by the jumper to delay a chop, he must have felt sure of his action to stay as long as he did. BLUE SKY'S & SEEEEE YA :-)

  • goes from a horseshoe to a bag lock. both are malfunctions in addtion to premature deployment. cut away!

  • himelitb said "I can't believe people didn't get the hell away from him."

From my perspective as a fellow (but relatively new) camera flier, What I saw was when the horseshoe began to develop the tail of the formation saw what was happening but the two in front of the "victim" never knew of the malfunction until he fell back on them in a vertical position. Then they promptly tracked out of there. Can't criticize them for "not getting the hell out of there".

    My 2 cents. Blue Skies.

  • BAGGGG LOCK!!!!

  • for all those concerned about losing a main, stupid thinking first as safety is paramount, second, you can get insured for a cutaway canopy...with uk companies at least

  • Bad bad bad. Maintain your shit, people! Seriously. Did it ever open or did he chop?

  • and to think, a $1 closing loop would have saved all the trouble! Pretty funny though.

  • If it was a rental i would have just cut away instantly. If not i would have tried track with the d-bag behind me til i made sure i was over a point where i could find my canopy again and then cut away.that would suck to lose a canopy.

  • Track with bag lock...better be a damn good tracker, Norwegian caliber.

  • There are harder cliffs to out track than what is in norway. I do track an awful lot. I probably couldnt realy do it but I would try haha.

  • nice BagLock example :)

  • What? the guy on the right helped, the chute deployed prematurely somehow and he got it off the other (cant tell if its a guy or a gal)'s foot as it was in a horseshoe. Damn lucky the other dude was there.

  • i certainly hope he punched the other guy inthe face after they landed safely

  • Man, that must be one loose closing loop. His pack was open as soon as he left the plane. Looks like the main bag came out as soon as he broke the burble off the hill.

He was lucky like a bunch of you said. It was a nasty horseshoe in the making and just before it wrapped his legs, the pilot chute cleared. After that, all you can do is hope to get the bag open.

  • heheheh he waved

  • Many lucky dudes caught on tape.

  • ok im just going to skydive one day. but this looks real shity to me. does he have a chance of deploying the mainchute himself. sry for stupid question but did he survive?

  • The bag that holds his main chute came out of his rig container before it was supposed to. Then it pulled the pilot chute out as well. Normally when this happened the pilot chute would then pulled the main chute out and he would have had a normal but early ride on his main. In this case he had a nnbag lock which meant his main was traped in the bag. Only way to really get that out is to cut it away and depploy his reserve - not a big deal.

  • His team should have kept turning points with him until he chopped. What a bunch of pansies. Just kidding. Looks messy but best to chop that nasty looking gob of nylon.

  • Actually - the subject shoulda just chopped, presuming no RSL - then rejoined his teammates to continue with the points until break-off as normal! ;-) 'Course he'd have to remember to deploy his reserve instead of reaching for the main PC when that time came, that would be no longer there! F'in with your risers to try 'n get something pulled open after a horshoe up that high was just pure pansy - I agree! (J/K ...before I get flamed) ;-)

  • 1) the jumper is lucky, that started out as a horseshow and cleared when his BOC pilot chute got pulled out. He should get a pin check next time.

    2) the cameraman is getting above the formation too much, this is an illustration of why he shouldn't. Dunno what he's thinking after the mal, no need to fly up like you're the guy's AFFI, it is his problem, that's the right attitude the jumper has a baglock and isn't impaired with plenty of time to act, get out of their way.

  • horseshoe

  • Where is the rest of the video? Did you climb it up ? :)

  • that totally sucks....NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hehe... this looks like many friends are near you man... good name to this video, they can helped you all time, no help there

cutaway in 4000meters? why? have fun to 1500ft

  • This almost happened to a friend of mine. I was able to warn him before the bag came out. He tracked off and pulled!

The best thing to do in these situations is to get the hell out of the way! There was nothing his teammates could have done after the bag came out! Trying to hold the bag in the container could have been even more dangerous!

    Two lessons:

    - Gear checks save lives!

    - Watch each others backs (literally!)! Specially camera fliers! What if the main had fully deployed???

  • If you look closely you can see his flaps in the wind long before the bag dislodges. When it finally does it looks like the bridle goes up between the linegroups. Baglock is no big surprise then - I just hope he recovered his main. I'd ride it down to 3k or so for that exact reason. Good luck finding a main in the bag chopped at 10k.

  • highspeed malfunction = cutaway !

Don't think about your gear. Save your life first !!!!!

    !!!!!

  • This may come as a surprise to you, but some of us are able to do both (saving our life while saving our gear...)

  • It's a premature, yea it's high speed but he's at frikin' altitude. Chopping because you have a premature & baglock at 10k when you're vertical and holding your risers is just panic. Plenty of time to check your handles etc, a canopy ride from 10k is actually added danger from aircraft and other jumpers, the DZ and pilot are not gong to know about your premature. hackish1 is 100% correct.

  • BAGLOCK=CUTAWAY!!! don't even bother trying to clear it no matter how high you are, even if it does deploy chances are you'll have major linetwist...remember, at free fall speed just a few seconds can make the difference between a safe landing and going in...

  • What's with the title: 'To me, your problem, is YOUR problem!'

Fucking help your friends out if your in the position too! And why make that the emphasis of the video. As if he deserves it. What happened to him any way?

  • In this case the right thing is just to leave the guy to clear it as he's trained. It's a bag lock that likely won't clear and it's near certain that the guy will have to chop. If it was me I'd wait till I was lower because you want to have some chance of finding your main in the D-bag, you can only fuck up his right to make the right decisions save his own ass at this point.

  • There's really nothing any of his friends could have done. If they had tried to help it probably would have just made the situation worse.

  • Great job on the video. Although, it definitely wasn't a good idea to be directly below him.

As for the rest of the team you can see that once they realized what was going on they all left.

The good thing is that the jumper had LOTS of time to deal with a bag lock. lol

  • just goes to show how important those checks are!!! lucky it wasnt a full horseshoe!

hope he DID eventually cut away of course!!

but why didn't the others back off instead of hanging about!? there could have easily been a multiple entanglement there, either in the lines of the bag lock/main, or even he he cut away and dumped his main v near to the others.

  • stupid guy why doesn't he cut that shit away? no way he can get out of that, he loses time for nothing...

    awesome filming man!!!

  • they just exited he had plenty of time

  • Stupidities happen...

  • I had one of those, at 2000 ft. it was temporary believe it or not, had the cutaway handle pulled 2 inches as the main worked out of the bag, so i pulled the cords back into place. not a good feeling

  • you did what?! pulled the cords back? what would your thoughts be if one of your ricer breakes free on 500 ft , due to your length on the cords? go for "emergency procedure" ASAP!

  • pin check! this was a developing horeshoe...see the bag come out before the PC? luckily it took the PC with it...and what the hell was the camera guy doing?! get away! :)

  • pin check, pin check, pin check...

  • Whats the thing which crazy? It was a funny joke!

  • I can't believe people didn't get the hell away from him. What if he decided to cut and pull and all ya'll are just hanging out waiting to slam into his reserve chute?

  • Flying a camera into someone struggling with a baglock. That's a great idea... :/

  • That sucks a bit, but at high altitude the person has time to fumble with it and it's a simple cutaway scenario. If you have RSL you would still have time to disable it, cutaway and have another go at freefall :P

  • Oh, I'd hate to valuntarely have an terminal-opening of a reserve. Id rather try to fix it (if Im at 12K, of course) and if it doesnt work, cut and get a reserve at around 4K. The locked bag wont sail very far after cutaway, since its small and compact..

  • My friend has the same problem, she wanted to open in 4000 meters and go sunset flyover(i don´t know if it is the right term)with other people. But when she pull out auxiliary parachute under the plane, she had baglock. She told me,that she tried to solve this problem about 15 seconds, because there was lot of time.I didn´t can believe, that it´s possible to found her freebag and parachute, but she had good luck.Canopy was fouded immediately and her freebag we found next day in the morning.

  • did he live or DIE!!!

  • Lives, is my teammate, he was did a cutaway, and open reserve !
