cupping is primarily used as a relief from congestion as like when you have a common cold. it breaks up the phlegm in the lungs so that the person can cough it up.. not entirely sure why he's doing it all over because it does produce a bit of a startling sound (especially if you're performing a relaxing swedish massage) but i guess if it's just a demonstration then that makes sense.

@Subfightr You wouldn't do the heavy tapotement like beating (closed fist while using ulnar border of your hand) in that particular area, but as far the ulnar hacking (karate chops), and any tapotement lighter than that, you can use it in that area, and I can tell you first hand that it feels great.
