"One look... The cookie-cutter face", right up to the (then) present day... (highly questionable assertion of course).
Seems the company felt in danger of being seen as passe, of the past.
The ad seems to be trying to do an image make-over, to reinvent the Avon brand. Appealing to younger viewers by being *entirely* dismissive of the past. The very past that younger women probably saw Avon as representing. "Mom & grandma's company?" No, very up-to-date! (Prob. some older women were offended!)
"Let me be your Avon rep! I'm offering 10% discount, free gift and free shipping with every order of $10 or more. And check back with me, I'll be having a raffle for the months of April, May and June. Check my YouTube profile for the link! - Its not your mother's Avon anymore!"
i remember the avon parties in the 80s...now the parties are not used more...the representatives leave the catalog and if the customer wants something call the avon lady for the order...in the 80s avon was leader in italy...buy from avon in the 80s was a must!!!
in the 80 s i was a little children, but i remember vividly the avon parties in my home(or in my mother s friends homes)...my mother take the campaign catalog at home, even if she already have ordered the products at the party...i see the catalogs millions ans millions of times...now that catalogs are collectible pieces...

I sell Avon and find having Avon parties are the best way to go. I can get together a group of people sell products and have fun of course.
