When's his birthday we should do it then

  • @Dablkwid0w2008 I am glad I checked! According to Wikipedia it's right around the corner! February 5, 1941.

I will flip a piece of paper to this man. I felt he was like a friend to me and the rest of a generation. I'd always see him at the end of shows I was watching.

  • I miss my old IBM Selectric! Best typewriter ever made!

  • I met this guy once. He was really cool in person.

  • That guitar bit at the end...classic. :]

  • I can't believe he sported a popped collar. lol

  • Love Stephen!

  • couldn't that motherfucker EVER get a PC??

  • It doesn't exactly have the same effect if he's hurling a monitor.

  • I think it would be great. or he could print a page and throw it you wise ass cock suck

  • I think it would take too long to print the page.

  • Yeah that would be great. "Out of ink!" "Paper jam"

  • Mr. Cannell, I understand, does not care for computers. He likes the typewriter.

  • I hate when people neg folks for good quality humor that's obviously sarcasm.

  • the first is the best

  • Was the 6th one used the 1987 theme?

  • In some of those he didn't look like he was really typing something, or maybe a really good idea came to him, was really exited about it that he typed for 9 hours straight and just remember that he had to go to the bathroom for the past 5 hours.

    gotta go!

  • Anyone remember A-Team?

  • oh yes! I loved the days when the end credits would roll and then the Stephen J Cannell Productions Logo would go after it.

  • And before that would be the Universal Television logo (scary music).

  • Me too. Steven's one of my writing heroes and influences.

  • the best is when family guy makes fun of this in the "luke perry is gay" episode....fuckin hilarious!

  • yet another thing Family Guy steals from The Simpsons, It was funny when they parodied this with Itchy and Scratchy!

  • I am speechless as I remember these times in front of the television. Technology can be beautiful.

  • Nice! Although Steve Cannell used to scare the hell outta me when I was a little girl. The suspenseful music, the way he's banging away at that typwriter, the way he rips the paper outta that thing - he looks so evil! Yikes! The one from 1984 scared me the most.

  • Yea I know -- I used to be so scared of those things...

  • Me too! I used to actually scream out loud.

  • WHO DIDN'tT!!!

  • When I was a kid I thought this was taken from a scene in Greatest American Hero.

  • I cannot believe I simply came looking for him ripping the paper out of his typewriter and I landed on the whole lineage! :) Super job!

  • this is just awsome!

  • seems like he is playing the piano..22 seconds one is my fav..

  • Anyone see similarities to the self-important writer Garth Marenghi in the comedy Darkplace?

  • logo=WIN

  • cannell is a bloody legend aesome logo aswell

  • I like the symbolism that is used. Notice how his office gets upgraded through each production logo with Emmy Awards and better furniture? Stephen J. Cannell paid his dues and was rewarded. Great post.

  • lol

  • oops. meant to hit audio for that last comment.

  • Hey Shane. I've got a great idea. Why don't you shut the fuck up and let everyone just enjoy the party. No one wants to hear ypour bullshit right now. Jesus fucking christ.

  • Stephen J. Cannell is a LEGEND!

  • I second that.

  • I love these endings! =)

  • This logo always freaked me out when I was little, but Stephen J. Cannell produced a lot of great TV shows in the '80s and '90s. It's still good to see these logos again.

  • I feel so old watching this. I clearly remember seeing this tv back in good ol days.

  • stepehen j cannell is a legend. A great logo for a great guy and i agree with pacman classic he uses a computer now. damn technology

  • That man is a LEGEND! Seriouly it tkaes skill to take paper then throw it inot the air and make it land exactly onto a stack of papers lol. He possilby prints his scripts out through the computer printer nowadays. Curse you technology.

  • That motherfucker was typing a MASTERPIECE!

  • ...and I've always taught it was the same scene all over the year. Need to pay more attention...or maybe not!

  • hell yeah this is so classic!!! Every end of Renegade or Troppical heat:D good old days.

  • This man was always cool to me, I liked his logos, I like how he types and throws his paper and it lands with his name on top

  • The first ones really scared me big time!!!

  • This is legendary!! we were reinacting this scene in the uni library last week...lol!!

  • they mustve stopped once the PC overtook the typewriter

  • Bullshit they stopped. Cannell just tosses a PC Monitor over the desk now. Bad-ass and completely apropos to today's society.

  • hahaha

  • Steven is an amazing guy,he did a lengthy interview on Chicago radio a few years ago.Very articulate and funny,he said he is Dyslexic and has trouble transcribing his words.

  • ooooops.....Stephen.

  • haven't seen these in forever, thanks!!!

  • Peep the Emmy @ frame 0:16

and not a PC or Mac to be seen. That's skills!

  • The true Master. This man is a genius.

  • I like the progression... the hairstyle changes, the clothes, the music, the awards, even Cannell's demeanor. He seems less stressed out and having more fun as the logos progress. A true sign that he succeeded.

  • bkizer99: I love your observation on the changes of clothing and demeanor that SJC expresses with each logo.

I agree with your thought that the fact he had succeeded in his production career lightened the stress load. Reflecting on Hollywood in the 2000's, who has a production company in this time period who has been able to turn out hit after hit on a continuously? That he and his collaborators took chances and have been able to last in this business certainly meant sweet success in the end.

  • There was one in the late 90's/early 00's?? From what show? I've never seen that before

  • Oops, I guess he did :-)

  • If I remember this came on right after the creidts of Simon and Simon

  • Nope. He had nothing to do with that show.

  • How many guys can say they had a show on every network in the 80's at one time? NBC CBS ABC.

  • Technically, he didn't have FOX :P

  • 21 Jump Street.

  • And Booker.

  • How pretentious! But I love how he was rockin' the popped collar in '89. And I'm not sure he's really typing anything in the last one.

  • tear. tear. I miss those years ;(

  • As time progressed, the offices became larger and the hair styles changed with the times. The only constant was that trusty, old IBM Selectric.

  • Wasn't there a seventh variation? I remember that, b/c "Silk Stalkings" had a different variations in the mid-'90s eps.

  • lol, This was very cute :-)

  • Years later and he's still typing. :) The man is a creative thinker with a mind for fiction and action.

  • This would make for an AWESOME ring tone.

  • btw, nice EMMY PLACEMENT at :15

  • It's like watching Cannell's entire career flash before his very eyes! ;D

  • I love the smirk on the last one, I suppose by this time he has made so much money and seen so many things that he has got plenty to laugh about!

  • @summerwind1974 Yeah its like hes saying "Yes, I'm still typing and I'm still getting paid."

  • i did had a nightmare on the music background, but back then i was afriad the guy on there would come towards me and hurt me or strange me to death if you think he doesn't reply to me and say it was an a halusionation, please!!!

  • Listen to the song @ 0:33...it sounds like the sweet grace of a Christmas morning!

  • and the moral to the story is the more you type the more success lies ahead of you!

  • LOL!

  • I like that, that's good!

  • anybody seen the simpsons where the spoof this with "Itchy and Scratchy productions" hilarious

  • When I first saw that, I laughed my head off.

  • And Family Guy when Peter finishes Meg's false news report for her newspaper club.

  • I like the one at :34

  • He's Cute!

  • This would sound better if the jingle had a saxophone, just to add a bit more jazz.

  • Wow, I didn't realize he had that many! The only one I'm familiar with is the one at :22. I always used to wonder what he was typing! LOL

  • Very good, is the 21 Jumpstreet and The A-Team´s creator.

  • Co-creator. Frank Lupo helped him with A-Team. Patrick Hasburgh helped him with Jump Street.

  • I know that. Those guys are good but when the shows end they only show his name and logo. That is what I ment.

  • Actually the logo after the first one which is actually from 1981 is from 1983 the 1984 logo just featured Stephen from the front and he isn't smoking a pipe then it is followed by the 1984-1987 logo.

  • Now we need to find the Cannell Entertainment, Inc. version.

  • Very nice!
