I remember buying that first one and being blown away by walking into a hangar and finding a spaceship. Zipping outside and suddenly getting that complete freedom of movement was amazing. Love to see what you come up with. Save play would be a good one, or you can always just use Spectaculator on souped up speed. (c8
I'm working towards a sort of jukebox approach, ScummVM style, and game saving will definitely be in there. To be honest, the commercial titles like Driller will probably take a while to work out, since they do some things in a slightly odd fashion and I'm just not sure how they're meant to work yet.
I haven't spoken to any of the original developers. It'd be interesting, but I've no idea how I'd manage it.
Not yet. I keep alternatively fixing and breaking things as I try to make my engine work with all the various Freescape titles (especially now that the 8bit 3d Construction Kit importer is complete), and there still isn't anything as helpful as a menu to let you pick which title to play, or any way to save your game. I'm hoping to have something out 'soon'...

I got my copy of this from ACE magazine (by way of payment for an article of mine that they published).

Have you chatted with the original developers?
