Finally the ITF goes a little bit for the average-guy appeal: When you show patterns on youtube, people sneer and laugh it off, stating how other martial arts are infinitely greater.

All these youtube videos of ITF guys (and other, as well) getting beat-up are business propaganda: It doesn't mean every fight will be like that.

All these know-it-alls that tell you ITF is too soft, or it's kicked can't really be used in fights are hopeless losers, sitting in front of their computer. But we know.

I was a 1st degree black belt in WTF TKD, and liked it very much, but I could see that it lacked some important aspects and trained Muay Thai as well for that reason.

After i chaged to ITF, i did not feel the need to train Muay Thai, it is a very effective martial art and i can say i feel complete confident with it.

But now I'm jumping to conclusions. Do you really know anything about martial arts, and do you really know what it's like to fight at an advanced level? Or are you just some sneering fool who watched a few UFC fights, and now you're typing the awesome knowledge you acquired from watching TV and youtube vids?

I think both styles of Tkd(ITF & WTF) are great. It all depends on the school and the practicioner. You would think WTF might have better athletes because its in the Olympic Games. In the 2009 WTF world championships there were 189 Countries in attendence and over 1600 competitors. In a lot of those poor countries ur set for life if u win a gold medal at the World Championships or the Olympic Games. However ITF seems to be very very popular aswell.

This is true Taekwondo. ITF by gen. Choi Hong Hi. Explosive power in every techniques and no mercy in selfdefense. This is true martial art.:)

besides the olimpic (wtf taekwondo) and the traditional(itf taekwondo) no there is no different style

there are breakaways from the original itf which dont do the patterns exactly like the itf and are more rounded such as master hee il chos style.
