Under pressure literally the slightest change in grip, set up, tempo, or any other part of the swing makes the ball go al over the place. The number of people has nothing to do with additional pressure in tennis alone.Golf has thousands of spectators on the course watching the leaders too. Golf is much harder mentally, every shot counts

to win a golf major you need to out play 100 (roughly) other people thru 2 days then a remaing 45 (roughly after the cut) for another two day and all it takes for you to mess up is one shot out of bounds or in the water

Every great sportsman has to train hard, im sure Federer puts in the hard yards aswell. Its not what happens in training but on the court that matters and Nadal has owned that battle easily in the last few years. Alot of tennis players train as hard as nadal does but if nadal is the only player that consistantly beats federer then he must be very technically gifted aswell. I could understand if nadal trained harder and feds still beat him but he dosent so how is he a better sportsman

I think nadals 14-7 record against feds says it all plus you have to remember that nadal was injured for 6 months and so was unable to defend wimbledon and the french properly in 2009. In golf it's you vs. the entire field, plus the rigors of the course over a 4 day span. I play both and can say both present different chalenges. Golf is more mentally exhausting than tennis, yet far less physically taxing. It's easy to proclaim one is harder than the other but if you don't play both it's difficult to understand their challenges.

In tennis, one must beat 7 players to win, but seldom do they face every top 10 player to win the tourney. In fact, Fed never even played anyone in the top 5 during last year's Wimb. In fairness, most of the majors feature the top guys, however, in golf, you have no choice but to beat everyone, whether they're top 10 or top 100 so idk

It's much harder to win majors in tennis than in golf.
In golf you can play from 18 years old till 100 or somewhat, whereas in tennis only 18years to around 29-30.

@federeriscol do u play both sports? If not, it's difficult to accept your opinion. In tennis, it's you vs another for 7 matches over a 2 week span. In golf it's you vs. the entire field, plus the rigors of the course over a 4 day span. I play both and can say both present different chalenges. Golf is more mentally exhausting than tennis, yet far less physically taxing. It's easy to proclaim one is harder than the other but if you don't play both it's difficult to understand their challenges.

I don't count golf as a sport, it's too expensive (snobbish) and there's no effort involved (physically).

@federeriscol fair enough, I play college tennis & golf in the summer, so I understand both fairly well. When deciding which would be harder to win consider this. In tennis, one must beat 7 players to win, but seldom do they face every top 10 player to win the tourney. In fact, Fed never even played anyone in the top 5 during last year's Wimb. In fairness, most of the majors feature the top guys, however, in golf, you have no choice but to beat everyone, whether they're top 10 or top 100 so idk

@tikealpzyx Yes, but in golf there's a lot less competition, because barely anybody can actually afford to play, so there's not as many people fighting for the win.
Rankings don't mean that much in tennis, so that's no argument. The fact still remains that in golf you have an entire lifetime to make it, whereas in tennis up till the age of thirty at most.

@federeriscol I agree the lifetime of a tennis player is much shorter than in golf. If the discussion were which sport is harder to win 10+ majors, I'd choose tennis, bc of their short careers. However, If I had to make my breakthrough, I'd choose tennis, bc I may not play every dangerous player. With golf, you must beat everyone, period, that's a daunting task for any newcomer.
