by the way, this video kind of inspired me. I think i will have a powwow one day. Contests will all be "old school". All old school contest dancing And absolutely no judging by name! I want the judging to be strictly based on dancing like it should be. I think i will make this a plan. lol

Calling this a "contemporary style straight dance" does not fit because for one thing There SHOULD NOT be a "contemporary" style of dancing to any powwow category. Especially to the straight & traditional dances because they are & should remain graceful & meaningful warrior dances. The dancing displayed in this video is clearly far from real traditional straight dancing. This is a Fu!!ing Joke! is what this is first of all! This is not Straight Dancing!!! you wanna see some straight dance come to Ponka Or Osage Land then you"ll see some straight dancen. Pawnee guy maken things look skeedie! scabby!! This was a warriors dance first. not a mix of chickn of northen dancen back one or two up steps you are retreating!!! well I give that one to the Pawnee Boy!! But when you vote for your buddy so he will vote for you is why this kind of dacneing keeps going on.
It should be smooth, and elegant. Not Choppie and so disorineted looking. The sign of a great Straight dancer is that when they are dancing it makes them look like they are walking/gliding along glass.
