There certainly appears to be plenty of gas available for home use here. However the well would have to be cased with heavy duty PVC and cement grouted. Then capped and a small low pressure storage facility installed.
I was hired to drill a well, so I can not dispose of the area or of the well, I threw a match to the well and I got a small explosion. The gas is methane. I made the suggestion to the owner to try and capture the gas so he can use it in the kitchen of his employes.
It doesn't look like enough gas to be able to make use of it. It seems it would be more of a problem than a blessing. I guess it would be an indicator there is a source of gas near enough that may prove to be a blessing if drilled and captured. That would surely stop the problem of gas coming out the water well. Might even make a little money on the deal. Probably not enough though.
I know most of the area and there are a couple of water wells that still produce some gas after 20 some odd years. Like you say it could be more of a problem tham a blessing but as time goes on it could be interesting to be able to capture some of it even if it is for home use.
I guess, I know the area and there are quite a few more water wells and some over 30 years old the are still producing some gas. I don´t know of any body who is using it.
where is this??

This well is in the frontier between Guatemala and Honduras close to the Caribbean Ocean. There are good roads.

It is gas, I threw a match at the mouth of the hole and there was a small explosion.

light it on fire, or put some sort of cap on it and capture the gas and use it to run a gas stove
