Last post I swear. You also have to consider Massachusetts. If the GOP candidate could win Massachusetts, the most liberal state in the union and the 14th largest, it would be a huge advantage. Romney is THE only candidate who stands a shot at MA, and it's a pretty great shot. He is very popular there. If Obama drops the state, it makes things much easier on the GOP. Even if you don't like him, I bet you like him more than Obama.
Romney appeals to moderates and moderate-liberals alike and is the most favorable GOP candidate (Gallup). He can draw in the votes of those slightly dissatisfied with Obama, and though conservatives aren't that hot on him, you'd have to pick your poison. He's still much better than Obama any way you spin it. Just be realistic. Conservatives and Tea Party supporters are a minority that just doesn't have what it takes to beat Obama and his army of sheep.
Dislike Romney all you want, but at the end of the day, whoever wins the GOP nomination has to take on Obama, who, like it or not, is a pretty popular president. His approval is 51% today. Most Democrats are still in love with him, and unless we give them a realistic GOP candidate, moderates and slightly displeased liberals are still going to pick Obama over a Tea Party candidate. The Tea Party alienates moderates. They're too conservative and cannot defeat Obama.
@Phil9019 NO president in recent times has been re-elected when unemployment exceeds 8%. Regardless your point is valid, hard right candidates will never capture the mid/left vote crucial to a sound Obama defeat. Perry is about as right as the electorate will go, Romney is fairly center.
ROMNEY , I HAVE ? FOR U: "HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CREATE JOBS IN AMERICA IF POPULATION OF CHINA IS 1,4B ?

Who wants a candidate with actual achievement in the real world? Executive experience? Executive experience in elected office? A law degree AND MBA from Harvard? That took Mass budget from a $3B deficit to a $700m surplus? That saved the Olympics? Oh, he changed his position on abortion - right. Hey didn't Obama change HIS position on: public campaign financing, bringing the troops home, closing Gitmo, Bush tax cuts, NAFTA, FISA wiretaps, debt ceiling, terrorist trials, etc. etc.
@dospesentas Romney was also against guns, he changed on that. Romneycare is killing Mass. The man who sided with TARP and the bailouts before turning against it. A man who was for stem cell research before turning against it. The man who supported Obama's stimulus package before changing his mind against it. Says 'I'm going to take burdens off the back of the auto industry." then turns around and says "Detroit needs a turnaround, not a check". Romney doesn't stand a chance in hell.
@Dems4Lunch Romney espoused appropriate positions, running in liberal Mass. He NEVER sponsored, voted or signed ANY anti gun legislation. TARP was a great success, Romney NEVER supported the Stimuless as enacted. Detroit does/did need a turnaround, the 'burden' is the unions. We need someone with experience, achievement and credentials Romney has them all. You can nit pick irrelevant pet issues but we have a $14T debt and $1.6T deficit and that's job one and the current 'leader' hasn't a clue.
@dospesentas You DON'T flip flop on issues to become elected in a liberal state. You go with what is in your heart. Sacrifing the right to kill babies to get elected? The lowest of the lows. So you still want to vote in that used car salesman? The Godfather of Socilicazed medicine and Obama care? Hermin Cain is a more successful business man than Romney. He is leading in the polls.. He DESERVES TO BE PRESIDENT. Romney deserves a kick in the ass.
@Dems4Lunch Not confronting issues important to your electorate is smart politics. Job ONE is to WIN! Romney's health plan's far from Socialized medicine or Obamacare - the statement illustrates ignorance of the topic. "Used car salesman" - sophomoric name calling. Romney's net worth's FIVE times Cains. Visit RealClearPolitics and check the polls Cain leads NONE, Romney almost all.
Cease being an attack machine propagandist who uses petty name calling and false claims.
"The all-Democrat stimulus that was passed in early 2009 will accelerate the timing of the start of the recovery.."'The all-Democrat stimulus passed in early 2009 has been a failure." ... 'I believe the tax on capital gains should be zero." 'It's a tax cut for fat cats.''When I first heard of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, I thought it sounded awfully silly. ..Don't Ask, Don't Tell has worked well.. I have piles of these to make sure Romney falls..
@Dems4Lunch A stimulus in theory CAN work, unfortunately the 'incompetents' squandered the money on pork. I agree with the quotes. I don't share Romney's belief in Keynesian economics. Don't ask / don't tell is a non issue in the 2012 election.
I don't think your influence in the election, besides your own vote, is significant.
@dospesentas You know as Governor in 2002, Romney backed the federal assault weapons ban and the Brady Bill.. April 10th 2003, Romney refused to endorse Geroge Bush's tax cut proposal. Barney Frank was quoted as saying “Here you have a freshman governor refusing to endorse a tax cut presented by a Republican president at the height of his wartime popularity.” Romney also campaigned for increasing federal gasoline tax for transportation construction.. Romney is not fit to be a garbage man.
@Dems4Lunch Romney's 'pro Brady' position centered on a reasonable waiting period for gun purchases - a position most voters agree with. Tax cuts in a time of high deficit and debt were and are stupid. The fallacy of Keynesian economics has been aptly demonstrated. I agree with the gas tax hike, particularly back when he supported it. Transportation infrastructure deterioration has far exceeded funding, it's a smart, appropriate position. Where do YOU think road funding should come from?
@Dems4Lunch If he doesn't come to terms with the liberal public of MA and allow them policies which they support, then they'd just end up electing a Democrat who would impose even more-liberal policies. America is the people's land, not the governments- you'd agree? He allowed the liberal population of Massachusetts to maintain their identity without alienating the GOP and imposing policy and law that the people didn't approve of.
@Dems4Lunch If you hold an office in a state that holds standards different from your own, you do not impose your own and force the people to live by your rules. That's not the proper role of government. You are to abide by the population's desires, not force feed your own.
@Phil9019 I totally disagree. The citizens of MA voted Romney as a Republican with a majority. When they vote Republican, they get traditional republican values, not some washed up Moderate crap. You FORCE the other party to live by the rules. Like Scott Walker did in Wisconsin. If the population wanted a Democrat, they would vote Democrat. I might like Romney better than Obama.. We tried a wishy washy candidate like McCain, and that didn't work. Romney has no voting record to back himself up.
@Dems4Lunch He "flip-flopped" on stem cell research when he found out that, in a bill on his desk, he was asked to give the green light on a form of contraception that would terminate a fetus after conception. Upon learning more, he became turned off of stem cell research and abortion, but still maintains that abortion is understandable concerning "rape, incest, and risking the mothers life." He didn't flip-flop. He became more educated and made a reassessment.
Romney was governor in MA. If he doesn't proclaim some liberal stances (his own or not), he's got no chance of winning that election. If he does not win that election, he's got no realistic chance of ever pursuing presidential candidacy, since he's got no political experience. If Mitt Romney never has a shot of pursuing candidacy, then we're calling Obama president for four more years, because, face it, none of the other GOP frontrunners have a legitimate shot at Obama in 2012.
FYI...Go to bjwinslow dot/com (thats just ONE) click on "fetuses" on top to see all the rubber fetuses available, that are used on YT prolife videos & different websites. @GreatUmbrage I dont think sociopath is a fair characterization and I'm not a fan of the Republicans. I think political opportunist is the term you're looking for.
I have a friend who is a top scientist. Anyway, it turns out that at just 8 weeks of age, an unborn baby has a strong heart-beat and he or she sucks their thumb and burps etc. etc. The baby is a human being at this point, even though it is only a baby. Therefore, abortion is obviously murder of an innocent baby, but we have to ask ourselves is murder of babies justified?
Know anyone who tells a mother who had a miscarriage... I'm so sorry your 'pregnancy' ended prematurely??? I certainly hope not.
If you show pregnant women xrays and ultrasounds of their fingernails I'm 100% postive 80% of them would NOT choose to NOT trim their fingernails again.
As attached as some ladies are, I doubt they need counseling over fingernail loss. Fingernails don't have their own fingernails, nor could they ever. Fingernails don't have their own seperate DNA from the rest of you or any other thing or person.
so he said he would "preserve" the woman's right to choose. thats code for "I don't agree for abortion, but the only way to make a difference in this area in Mass. is to come to a middle ground on this issue". Now he is running for a national office. Two different kinds of races, two different approaches, same idea. Its called politics for a reason. Look at the guy's record while in office; he did everything he could to promote life and conservative values. Very smart, I like this guy.
You are absolutely right. Everyone who has a brain knows he said he would protect a woman's right to choose because he was in liberal Massachusetts. Mitt Romney is our guy. Him and Rick Santorum in 2012 would make an awesome team.
What else is he going to "change his mind" on to get the power he wants. He is a liar, his record shows this is true. Only one candidate has a 100% Constitutionally-correct voting record. I am a MORMON and I will vote for RON PAUL.

A "baby" is an infant which is physiologically independent of the mother's body.
Pssession of a heart beat does not grant one a right to life. If it did, we'd all be pacifist vegans.
A "being" is a physiologically independent organism.
No one denies that it's human. So are my fingernails.
Abortion comes nowhere near meeting the qualifications for murder. you should really do some legal research.
