  • I want Africa to go back to its glorious days of great kingdoms, empires, nations, tribes with extraordinary cultures so different from those of Europeans/liars! Look at the exotic beauty of Benin masks, scuptures so unique and African! European slave-trade, colonialism,neo-colonialism spoil the fun!

  • please did anyone know who sing this sogn, i do love it, pls just let me know

  • Its so funny how racist like to talk bad about Africans but when they see shit like this they try to deny it, claim it as their own or bitch out in excuse of how it got there. This is real ancient art. I've seen some of the pre colonial pictures of the cities of the Ashanti and Benin before it was destroyed by the British. They had some pretty complex buildings. Some of the houses looked like small castle. honetly Africa was better off without Europe

  • @TheBanditghettoninja Thank you for you true input.

  • @TheBanditghettoninja It's not simply racism. No human wants their view of reality to be challenged; and when such a challenge happens people often react badly.

  • @Metaphysicist Agreed.

  • please can somebody tell me woh play this song, i love this song

  • IFA IS THE WAY , ☼

  • so Benin Kingdom is just about clay craft.

  • @Killayut the only true amazons ruled in benin. africa is about everything from which the world took and claimed as it's own. type in African origins of, here on youtube. also see ron englash's video on african maths, here on YT.

  • @fool74 if u see art u go know am? fake art my foot. you keep taking those pills never mind its a dream i will tell you when to wake up.

  • @ukabia what is the song's name?

  • @fool74 : Just as ur name, you are indeed a fool...lol..

  • @fool74 your stupid! Thats no fake! Benin exist since the 6th century ad.

  • @fool74 they still make emm in some part if benin as gifts

  • @fool74 I am from that region...TRUST it is very Ancient! NOT modern at all...please do your history. check out the tale of the EDO mask!

  • @fool74 That's what European colonizers said too. They didn't believe that black people can create art.

  • @fool74 These artifacts were discovered over a hundred years ago by a white man who believed they were made by white ppl. So how is that modern? Is so it so hard for you to believe sub-saharan African can produce such beauty? hmmm I bet....typical!

  • @fool74 if you are still douting, see the documentary film from BBC LOST KINGDOM OF BENIN on YOUTUBE, maybe that might convince you. FOOL

  • @fool74 i can understand how intimidating these facts are to you cuz ever since you were a baby u have been taught to disrespect nubians no matter what, whether u were aware of it or not. but u r just making a fool out of yourself by posting such a comment on this vid. please deal with it as a civilized person and not as a sad pathetic racist.

  • @fool74 ROFLOL.... A quite TYPICAL response from an insecure Eurocentrist. You people are in a class all by yourselves.

  • I love the song!

  • what is the name of the song?

  • What a cultural herithage, not surprising Bini art work was chosen to represent FESTAC(2nd world black festival of art and culture)world black symbol.

  • Like it

  • bini song sounds so good

  • great benin, long live the oba of benin, (world Edo internatuional student organisation ,) pennsylvania , u s a chapter .

  • Where you from?

  • am prould to be a bini

  • beautiful

  • This is impressive

  • This is indeed a youtube classsic , a wonderful capture of the sights and sounds of Benin kingdom.(Edo culture). It is very unique and is a way of saying this culture lives, and that it is not in any way inferior to the other contemporary cultures of today. This video is both spiritual and magical, and am thanking ukabia for posting this excellent video.should you have some more videos please do not hesitate to post.

  • Thank you.

  • Greetings! I endorse these positive sentiments. Culture on the African Continent is definitely not inferior to culture from any area of the world. Thanks for posting

  • @ohdeeddone Not just EDO culture o! There were other ethnic groups apart of the Benin kingdom. :-)

  • black people. although im very pleased with this video and previous african tribes, im not pleased by the comments left by my fellow black people. you cant fight racism and/or ignorants with more racism. please stop disrespecting white people, they are human also, how could a good hearted white person watch this vid and then read the comments. its not right and if you disagree, then you are not a true brotha.

  • Comment removed

  • I care beause Im supposed to. Did you read what I said? A good hearted white person who agrees that these things done to blacks would not like these comments that are racist. Its one thing to express anger in comments (and I do it a lot) but its another thing to spew hate towards another people.

  • I'm a "good hearted" black person but have to ignore the deluge of ignorant comments from non-blacks quite often. For the "good hearted white" person, welcome to the world of "good hearted people" and let them deal with it. They don't need any nannies looking out for their best interest.

  • Why do you care? If certain white people don't like the comments, then let them speak for themselves.

Many of these same artifacts in this video were looted by the British and sit in the British museum to this day. They have no plans whatsoever on returning them as they have been asked. It doesn't matter if Benin doesn't have the capacity to care for these items or if they end up sold, it's NOT THEIRS to decide.

Therefore, who gives a damn about comments?

  • Well Im accountable to my community and I am my Brothers keeper, therefore if I see a brotha carrying on like those other racist biggots, Im going to say something them. You dont have yo, but I will.

  • @lmarr07 I used to think like that... until are started seeing the word nigger countlessly every damn day, even on videos that had nothing to do about race. After about 5 months I quit that type of thinking. Nowadays I'm more like fuck it. Racism is an unstoppable machine.

  • I want that artifact at 1:05

  • My sincere appreciation for this great video and may God bless the Oba of Benin and the Edo people.

    The great Son of Utigbeni.

  • GOOD VID

  • lol not

  • when I was young kids used to "ask me why are you black"?

To whihc is replied because im actually NORMAL and not an pale, dead, depigmented, and utterly unnatural cave creature with pig and ape genes.

  • LOL..you seem really stupid...celebrate our differences....

  • Yes, I know, white people had to adapt in order to absorb more vitamin C. The reason I would say that as a child, is because they would ask about my skin tone as if it were some "condition" or "disease" so I had to make them feel the same way as well.

  • Peace to the ancestors!

  • lol

  • american slavery is not the entire history of the black people on this planet!! what rubbish... and what has the bible got to do with the slave trade in the americas?. white america is totally brainwashed and black america just follows their leader... still.

  • Flossanova, we as a black race were the very 1st humans on this planet. A BBC 5 series documentary covering all the 5 Continents of the world confirmed that all races originate from blacks. The programme is called "The Incredible Human Journey".

Even the American Indians were not the 1st to inhabit the lands of North & South America. It was the Washutaw Muurs a black race, just as the 1st emperors of China were also black!!

  • it wasn't the moors.but they were AFRIKAN!!in fact, the oldest bones found in the americas were 18000 yrs old and they are AFRIKAN.but, there is the ben ismail tribe down south.they were started by muslim ex slaves who intermingled with the native ppl there.peace.

  • Bxlunar, I said Washutaw Muurs not Hannibal Hector's Moor Empire that invaded the Romans twice!

The oldest bones which you are referring to of Afrikans in America would possibly be that of the Washutaw Muurs. Remember, the Native Americans met these Afrikan tribes living in America, long before they had arrived from India!

Source; "Ancient Voices" on DVD, "Incredible Human Journey" on paper back by Alice Roberts!

  • R: MUN 7001.The issue at stake here is not only on race, but merely touching on some of those facts created by mankind to enable easy exploitations, segregations, discriminations, oppressions, dehumizations etc etc

We talk about diffrent civilization owing to to records, documents, archives and in some cases the relics/archelogical findings help for her adequate clasification/representatioins

Blacks help to build western civilazation under duress and obligations not as patners on equal rights.

  • thanks for sharing this video with us.

  • though historians might twist or disturt facts and figures for selfish/complex intrest, but on Edo(Bini) civilization,i think the relics and the living symbols there in Benin City in particular, equally , the well documented archives scattered all over the world speaks for itself.Race is just one those human inventions to enhance segrigations and divisions among all mankind.

  • you couldn't have said it better! excellent statement!

  • why does this become an issue of race, if blacks were so dumb about civlization why did they help build western civilization as we know it today, people can talk about egypt all they want, you can't have just one civilization on one continent, it makes no sense

  • When we speak of Race, we must remember that their is actually 1 race in which mankind originates from. This is the Negroid race, however it is not to say that one is superior or inferior over any modern day race, this is just a fact!

Take the Negritos as mentioned b4 in my previous discussions. This is a black tribe that has inhabited the Phillipines & Thailand for over 6000 years (The 1st settlers in Asia). The 1st settlers in India came from Ethiopia, known today as the Dalits/Untouchables!

  • Pt 4 The first Melanesians, Hebrews and Moors were black. Regarding the latter, Professor McCabe (The New Science and the Story Of Evolution) pointed out that "none of our modern sophistry can redeem Europe from the fifth to the 11th century . . . ". By then Europe was reduced to barbarism, "yet the Black Moors and Arabs had a splendid civilisation in Spain, Sicily, and Syria".

  • moors are mostly berber but have african and arab mixtures, there not black africans! the tuareg tribe have more african blood than the rifains tribes who have next to none african blood but neither are concidered black africans! you have to understand that in africa some one with a drop of african blood is not considered black like in america where mariah carey is seen as black! you have black-moors who are freed slaves in mauritania, they are berberized africans and disliked by many african!

  • Remember this, as you mention Arabs, I will take you back to Persia. The first Persians, the original Persians were dominated by a Negroid race known as the Elamites.

The Elamites were related to the more Negroid stock as seen in most artifacts, where their hair is thick, short & like lambs wool! The Elamites also belonged to the Negritic race, this race covered most parts of Asia in Pre Ancient times.

Therefore, when I tell you they were black, I'm not referring to "Arab Mixtures"!!!!

  • Indo-European(Aryan or whatever you like to call it) is not a race. Originally Aryan meant in Ancient India noble ot Brahman. The langauge and religion of ancient Aryan are Sanskrit and Sanātana Dharma. " hitler even mentions them as so" I cant believe you are justifing your statemean by saying because hitler said so...Lol,Hitler is a phyco and would have kill Persians as well...

  • mariah carey is not seen as black. She even says she was influenced by black culture for her singing.

    YOu are a clear racist.

  • genetically she is black she has a black biological father! So her african bloodline is thicker... If she has a child by Nick Cannon those pale features will be diminish for her bloodline

  • THE FIRST PEOPLE to walk this earth were black Africans an archaeological fact firmly and finally established. Not so well known though it follows logically is that the early ancestors of the other racial groupings were black.

  • I'm a U.S student and it amazes me how the ancient, technologically superior, and powerful kindoms of Africa the Mid East Asia and South America are all left out of text books. I've realized much of my history is pure propaganda

Could some one could give me the names of books on these subjects

There are so many racis that swear western civilization is absolute, I want ammunition to debate them.

  • Pt 1.

As a US student, you may or may not be aware, that the technolgy used which has made Youtube to dominate in its field was invented by John Thompson an African American. When we talk of race, scientists from all over the world have confirmed that their is only one race that exists. This being the Negriod race, the mother over all races.

  • @RODRODFAM You should read books written by Che Anta Diop titled Pre-colonial Black Africa, Wonderful Ethiopians of Ancient Kush, African Origin of Civilization, Myth or Reality by Che Anta Diop. These book are good for starters.

  • All over the Continent, we see the same sad story. Our once great Kingdoms & Civilizations, that existed for thousands of years, were invaded, looted and mostly destroyed by the same animals...

  • BENIN wasn't a Kingdom in acient times, it was an empire extending from OKAH and ONITSHA in recent Anambra state, all through the DELTA and EDO regions to the recent day BENIN Republic via many of the recent day ONDO, southern part of OGUN and the whole of LAGOS states. Nevertheless, these places have been lost to the Igbos (in the east) and the Yorubas (in the west) due to inter marriages and occupations. Many thanks (rather blames) to the British colony. The king of Benin is often paid homages

  • now if only they can admit benin and oyo empires are older than 1400 ad

  • It's a known fact that Benin was established three hundreds of years before common era(BCE).With two dynasty and two republican kings. Ogiso and the Oba dynasty. The Ogiso dynasty produced over 15 kings whom were called the rulers of the skies.

  • lol you will have a big uphill battle there, some will argue benin kingdom came from oyo empire because of oranyan

  • People will always try an alter the course of history for 1 reason or the other, but the truth will always surface! The white man will try and tell you that Hanibal Hector who conquered the Romans twice on elephants was a white general, but the facts confirm this as false, B4 Lagos was called Lagos, it was known as Ecko, a cassava farm occupied by the Benin Kingdom and controlled by the Oba of Benin. You see whilst we are having these disputes, I have evidence to back up my facts!

  • Yes but when the first white man came to benin city and met ekawa the great he was in the middle of his fight to break away from the "emperor of hio" they even fought with benin against their forces when benin broke away. and they have shango pendants from that period but none after, only found in oyo empire.

  • Your debates are interesting, the 1st Europeans 2 come 2 the Kingdom of Benin were the Portuguese, then the Spanish. Along the lines, the Dutch also explored the Benin Kingdom, but their length of stay was short lived & the British est. their presents in the south of Nigeria soon after. Regarding the break away/pendants I can only assume that during the "Punitive Expedition" when the Britsh fought off/looted/burned down are mighty Kingdom, they did have other Naija tribes as their allies.

  • by the time of that though the sokoto and self hating mohamedan yoruba had destroyed metropolitan oyo and everything around it so the chance of them planting 600 year old artifacts is unlikely, plus it was as irony would have it hausa soldiers who destroyed benin, had they not come to the obas gate with thousands of them and others, they would have lost.

  • But there is no doubt about eko was controlled by the oba of benin well until the 1860s. I have book where the white man admits the oba tells him he cannont open trade to england unless the oba of benin is consulted. they go to war without their queens permission and lost to benin's canons.

  • But oranyan was the one to ring in the oba dynasty too ancient benin and he was the alaafin of oyo at the time and im sure not the first, probably just the most memorable like oromtopo and tela olofiran (shango). I wonder though if they used a similar script in benin to the nsibidi though, those empires were big and had to have some written records to maintain the large amount of trade and knowledge for architecture and metallurgy

  • In short, their were many great Kingdoms across W. Africa and Cen Africa. When the British arrived, they came to divide and conquer. Their main objective was to extract all natural resources, from the Gold coast, Ivory Coast, and other parts that produced coco etc. Once that mission was accomplished, and all the African Kingdoms were conquered, their would only be one Kingdom left. This would be the Kingdom of all Kingdoms, hence the Unired Kingdom!! Long live the Benin legacy.

  • Correction, The UNITED KINGDOM!!

  • Haha and u allowed them? our forefathers were the greedy and selfish ones, they were so foolish to have being tricked to fight wars... but do u know this is still happening??

A biafran says he wants to fight war and divide for past Nigerians mistakes, this idead always allows the outside world to attack us easilly, or how do u think they divide Africans?? because of disunity and lack of coopertaion.

  • yeah man good u understand me, we always cause our problems ourselves most of the times.

anyway, I pray as time goes we get to understand and respect each other the more.

"we are not enemies but friends though passion might of starined, it musn't break our bones of affection." lincohn and obama.

I wish our government can help each other ans stop being corrupt, I wish so, all this problems will be gone for good.

  • note am nigerian, I always see we caused our mistakes ourself or how could the white people have just taken slaves or divided us? common our stupid selfish leaders gave them chance. we still make that mistake today.

  • I hear you, whenever Africa has civil wars, you can guarantee it is either diamonds, oil or other precious natural resources which has financial benefits to a group of individuals operating from outside of Africa. We should count ourselfs lucky, that we didn't become extinct like the Native Indians, they were not greedy, but victims of genocide, deceit, and greed!

  • Not only was Eko controlled by the Oba of Benin, but during the time of Dahomey, Benin City was the Capital of Dahomey. Togo, Republic of Benin, the South of Nigeria and a small part of Ghana was formely known as Dahomey. Its true what your saying about the white man having to consult the Oba b4 opening trade. The Europeans were mesmerised by the administration of the Benin Kingdom which is why Europe was trying to establish a link.

  • 2day is black history month in da UK. Philip Reid a black slave from South Carolina, who helped 2 construct and design da dome roof in da White Hse, has been well celebrated in black history around da world.
