One of the better cartoons from Lantz's last year, thanks to story man Sid Marcus who delivers a contemporary protect-the-environment tale. Still rather derivative, as a few of the gags (like the plugged cannon and the drawbridge) were done earlier and better at Warner's.
In 1974 this cartoon was shown with Steven Spielberg's THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS.
I think this is a pro-enviroment episode of Chilly Willy.

Chilly Willy's not as good as Woody Woodpecker but it's still a great cartoon.

Gooney the Albatross makes a cameo at 1:59 when Chilly Willy and Maxie recap the last time an oil well was built near their home.

And what's even weirder is that it has the old pre-1967 MPAA logo too.

Depatie-Freleng and its distributor United Artists also uses the pre-67 MPAA logo for their cartoons until 1980.

Some DFE cartoons such as "Ant & Aardvark" and "Dogfather" used the newer MPAA logo. Not on their other cartoons, however, for some reason.
