No meter what everyone says... these two exercises have a point and I personally think everyone should try them, it makes you feel your hip and kick better... Just remember, when you are fighting, do not push like that, than you must turn your hip and hit!! :)
@veearnisjitsu This "attribute drill",actually made my kick much more difficult to catch as the benifit of so much more pressure and follow thru from the hip added snap to my retraction and single leg defense. Its not a "literal" drill where we would lay our kick on each other.I do weighted lunges to cultivate attributes to improve my wrestling shot, yet my shot looks different than my slow and deep weighted lunge.I hope this better explains the attribute drill i am demonstrating.
@DenCinco not at all.I am extending from the hip and the rear leg.The power and pressure is not coming from my knee to foot, otherwise you would be 100% correct.I detest the slapping and 4 point chambering compared to the total body committment of Muay Thai.I will respond with a video,to better illustrate this.I look forward to your input.;)@javadjon i will include pointers for short arc also
@warriorofhonor i agree with you 100% I'm just saying that as a Karate practitioner myself- Shotokan karate 1st kyu brown belt. That it is the exact same kick. the only difference is the retraction of the kick in order to control it. Karate and TKD are point base styles so no need to go full blast into one opponent. but we are taught in order to fully utilize the kick we do exactly the same thing you're showing here in the video. I'm also taught to strike with the Shin and instep
@DenCinco I just don't like how Karate and TKD styles are ALWAYS hated on because of the snappy kicks that are used in point fighting. We ARE taught the exact same techniques as Muay Thai round kick for real situations. Kyokushin karate has that same thought that traditional karate is not practical for practicing real situations but still borrowed the exact same techniques of Shotokan and TKD.
@thecheeze9001 we rep 10 jumps per leg back and forth for a 3 minute round x 3 rounds.3 rounds of pressing our shins back and forth same leg entire round 3 rounds 2 minutes.
@warriorofhonor thats the whole secret to kicking hard the hips very nice video man ufc figthers should watch these kind of videos so they learn how to kick rigth greetings from aldamas pitbull muay thai tijuana!

Don't do that!!!! Do NOT practice pushing! You develop a bad habit which makes it easy to catch your kick. Poor technique.

Funny how this "thai kick" is taught with a chambered knee to push just like karate and TKD.

@DenCinco Yes i agree.I trained under Kyokushin Mark Drowdsowski Sensei- and he always emphasized hip and shin as opposed to traditional point karate
