I worked for delta- you all have travel credit cards that most soldiers will often flaunt and say things like "i dont have to pay so charge away"- and yeah- you'll get your money back.........
Yes military gets paid combat pay and other stuff while deployment but if u ask anyone they would give all that money back in a heart beat to be home. As for the lady that her husband got back from deployment and she had no issue with him paying 200 dlls. He must be a higher ranking service member or rich cause my husband is and E-7 and supporting 2 families and trust me 200dlls is alot of money.
@Satafly Is it a bad thing that i appreciate the military that my grandfathers, sister, brother in law, and 2 cousins, (one of which has served 2 terms in Iraq) has served in?
Everyone has to pay the extra carry on fee so why should these military jerks get every thing free? Oh this shit pissed me off when I heard of this and Delta folded like a cheap camera on this issue. And by the look of these whiney pricks you would think this incident was the worst thing that happened to them of their deployment.
@duncan7599 If you read more on this, you'd find that the four bags weren't even personal belongings. They were mandatory things a soldier must bring back physically. The fuck do you think they were carrying? Hair brushes? 200 dollars is a lot of money.
@duncan7599 why dont you go to the middle east and fight then... maybe then you'll have some damn respect for our military... people like you are the ones who should be put on the front lines
@duncan7599 Because they have a contract with the government. Are you that stupid that you can't understand a word they're saying? They're given written orders that when they deploy that they're allowed 4 bags. Those 4 bags are all equipment needed for war. They're not just going on vacation and trying to get out of extra fees like you seem to think. Fucking inbred retard.
@ExploitedYouth87 I swear some people think that just cause they are in military they get paid millions of dollars and that they shouldnt get all the attention they do but fuck have u ignorant pieces of shit ever seen the conditions they live in out in there.
This is disgusting and Delta is crappy and I hope they took care of U all and I don't mean a flying voucher to fly again w/ Delta! Well, unless they give you all flying vouchers along w/ a paid in full vacation to where ever to spend time with your loved ones. I liked the video I think you handled it w/ class & especially the bag @ the end surely drives the point home of how disgusting this truly was.
This is bullshit and an outrage. How dare Delta do this to our troops. Respect them. They did after all put their lives on the line so the CEO of Delta can sleep in peace at night. What the hell does that person do other then sit at an office all freakin day long?
@kellyrose87 you actually think the CEO of Delta sits in an office all day long? I bet he spends one day a month actually in his office, and the rest is paid *cough bailout* vacation
Also, when my son was going to come home permanently in January, he contacted the airlines to see what he could do with his personal belongings, and he was told to buy duffel bags and fill them with items and that he would be able to take all of his stuff home. He went out and bought the duffel bags and they told him that he would not be able to use all of these bags. $600 later he still was unable to bring his personal belongings home
They go overseas to protect our country and they come back and is expected to owe us something? No, Hell no! They already paid by protecting our freedom. We wouldn't be able to fly without them. We owe them ALOT! They don't owe us shit. You should have put the M-4 up the flight attendants @55!
@ThisIsNotPictureTube The soldiers were reimbursed by the feds. After any period of travel, a service man/women does a travel claim and is then paid the amount of their expenses.
But to all the posters talking about how these soldiers are fighting for our freedoms - you are WRONG! They are fighting for corporate, banking and foreign interests. Our freedoms are being eroded by our government. Wake up.
@AynRandFanJG True but that has nothing to do with these soldiers having to pay 200 dollars for a package to bring home out of their pockets. The fact is the money from corporate, banking and foreign interests end up in the pockets of the white collars not these foot soldiers. Once again its the little man getting fucked because that is how the world works. Soldiers risk lives so billions can flow in to the pockets of the bankers.
@rittgirl23 do you know how long it takes for them to get reimbursed??? do you know how much red tape there is to go through on travel vouchers? obviously not. my husband went through the same thing and the point here is not that they can get reimbursed. the point is that they're coming home from a war zone and shouldn't have to go through something like this. have some damn respect.
@flamenkita76 not at all. considering how much soldiers get paid to go down there, and dont act like you dont know. all active duty know if you deploy downrange your gonna see some benefits in your pocket. Im mean sure it's sucks being away from home, and you dont enjoy everyday your out there "fighting for our country" , but my husband did a year tour and he made it home safely and wouldnt complain about a damn 200 bag fee when he's alive and going to be reimbursed...just saying.
@hironeden it's not about the travel claim. it's the PRINCIPLE that servicemen shouldn't have to go through that hassle. in fact, they should have the damn red carpet rolled out for them. it's not about the money. it's about the respect.
@flamenkita76 We're not saints man. We're just regular people. We don't deserve any special treatment for what we do. A thank you now and then is plenty.
@hironeden you're exactly like my husband - all guts, no glory. i understand and respect that but civilians do see you as saints. if it were easy anybody could do it. i'm a proud navy wife even though my husband (like you) says it's not that big of a deal and you're just doing your jobs. your previous comment is precisely what makes you a saint.
@flamenkita76 I don't know what else to say. Please don't put us on a pedestal. We're not your saviors, we're just the federal strong arm enforcing the will of the government. It's just a job.
it kinda does actually, a civilian job doesn't dictate every aspect of your life. i'm gonna go with the fact that you're actually in and not some kid who is trying to sound like hot shit... since this is the internet you and i could be anybody... but since you're in you know just as well as i do that when somebody fucks up everybody pays for it by getting leave revoked, civilian clothing privileges removed, and all kinds of other crap. the military IS your life till you get out.
@jkang119 I'm not in anymore. I went on terminal last June. You are right about mass punishment though. I can't tell you how many pull up pyramids I had to do on somebody else's account or how many hangar floor crates I polished. But I still say that a job is a job. I signed the paper and made a commitment so I had no real justification to complain. It sucked majorly, but that's what I signed up for. I'm a better man for it now.
now that we can go both agree on 100%! muster 6 times a fuckin day because somebody went UA and doesn't know how to act like a fuckin adult. but thats your typical junior enlisted. there were a ton of other things that sucked but almost all of it came from bad leadership, you learn more from a bad leader than you do a good one. poor topside leadership is why im glad i work out on my own terms, and sleep in however long i want these days.
@jkang119 And all six times, he who takes accountability is always, without fail, late. Why? Because he can be and nobody higher than his worthless ass gives a damn. Been there, done that. But oh well. That's the life we chose. I'm glad to be out. It's a better life out here.
as a former marine i can only say that its not as easy as just getting reimbursed by the DOD for out of pocket expenses, theres a lot of red tape to cut through...hell the DOD still owes me money and i left service 2 years ago. i know i'll never see it. long story short enlisted men, especially ones with families dont have the financial leeway to be paying an unorthodox and unexpected $200 bag fee.
Delta should be ashamed of themselves for their demeaning act. They are our soldiers who were deployed in Afghanistan on a dangerous mission. They are not coming back after a vacation. Least Delta could do is treat the soldiers who protect our country with ut-most respect rather than preying on them too with your stupid baggage fees.Shame on you Delta.
@Satafly Are you really saying that soldiers arent fighting for our freedom? Do you really think we would be in Afgan if they weren't a threat to us somehow? No matter what war we go into it all somehow comes back to making the citizen of America safe.
my husband is currently deployed to afganistan , this is a outrage . cheap no good lousy airline will stoop so low to make a buck Delta u should hang your head in shame !
My dad was in the Army back in 68. When he came back from Vietnam, his first stop was in Alaska. He didn't have a ticket back to Missouri. Even though he was required to be back in Missouri, he had to pay out of pocket for his ticket. I'm sorry these men had to go through this. Not cool. Too much greed in America. I'll never fly Delta ever again. Peace.
You should be charging Delta for the freedom you are providing for them to even exist as a company AND for the safety you are adding to their flights. Absolutely ridiculous. Whatever invalid made this call deserves to be reprimanded immediately. I travel all around the world and I will NEVER fly Delta Airlines again.
All i heard was "whine whine whine, i should get special treatment".
You're going to get reimbursed. This is the sort of thing you should expect while travelling for business/work, just put it on your card and get reimbursed later.
See that combat boot right at the end there? He should insert it so far up the CEO's ass that he tastes remorse every time he takes a bite of his own shitty airline food.
Never liked delta now I will never fly with them. SHAME on them, my husband is in the Army. He's in afghanistan on his way home soon. I hope he isn't flying home with delta airline. And thank you soldiers on this video for your service and Welcome Home. I can't wait to welcome home my hubby
Delta Airlines started in my hometown of Monroe, Louisiana. That was a source of pride for our town until now. Now, I'm embarrassed they even exist. These soldiers have been overseas for who knows how long and this is how they're welcomed back? I'll never fly Delta again.
the soldiers were in route back to their duty station. they have to keep them in their custody until they are returned to the arms room at their unit.
@frantahouska the fuss is they had to pay the money out of their pocket (not the government's) and put in a travel voucher when they returned home... you may have never been in the military but the last thing i would want to do when i return from afghanistan is pay some airline the money that i just made being shot at dick...
I think thats its awesome that delta increased the amount of checked baggage because of these soldiers. Maybe Ill have to make one of these videos when i return from afghanistan... Im a military working dog handler. I get charged $350 to check my working dog mocha ALSO the standard four bags, then i also get charged for mocha's bag which has his food toys and equipment so we can do our job. Maybe delta should think about soldiers like mocha and myself before jumping to four bags as the max...
Welcome Home soldiers of 95th Infantry division. I'm glad all of you are back home safe. Shame on you Delta. What kind of welcoming is that? After 911 your airline is safer thanks to who? What a disgrace...
That's not right at all! Delta just lost our service, that's for sure. My husband is in the Army and he will for sure never use Delta ever again, not after the way they treated his fellow Soldiers. Luckily the Army has flown him American Airlines when coming home from overseas.
The fuss is they never should have been charged in the first place. Also, many soldiers did not have the means to pay at the time, had it not been not for another soldier stepping in to pay. And how long will this reimbursement take? Some soldiers with families are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Shitty welcome home for our soldiers.
yeah but its a sad way to welcome our fine men and women back from war. after all, they do defend the fact that we are free. delta airlines, you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Commercial airlines charge for their business. If the government pays fine, but why should a business offer special benefits to anyone? I really don't see what the problem is because they will be reimbursed.
i wouldnt b happy either...they charged u for ur work supplies which ur work had a contract with delta airlines to transport these supplies without charge...that sucks...they finally gets good news to come home and they have to deal with this shit...shady business thats all i have to say
Delta Airlines is a pile of crap. Their frequent flyer program is a fraud, too. After I had booked enough flights for my free trip, every seat to 5 destinations was full for a year! Unless, of course, I was PAYING.
Ok. So delta changed the police. 4 free bags are allowed. Yes anyone serving overseas shouldn't need to pay a damn thing for luggage for any airlines..shouldn't matter what class they are in. The soldiers in this video had a bad day what where they trying to get out of it? Because either way since they had a "contract" with delta it would have been taken care of anyways in the end.
People on here are so stupid and make a BIG deal out of something that doesn't even affect them. Relax a little.
My son also was discharged from the Navy in January. He had to come out of pocket over $600.00 to pay for additional luggage to bring back home. He also had to leave many of his personal belongings at the airport because he ran out of money and that they refused to let him bring additional items home. What a shame and insult to these guys.
Delta is a Douche-bag, dirt-bag airlines. Now, they will spend many more dollars to repair their market reputation and brand name. They will put up ads to show something like "Delta cares and concerns for its passengers and their families and their souls..." yada yada yada . In one way, their greed for $2800.00 will be costing them many hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, for lost reputation.
WTF?!? At least we can all take comfort in knowing the Govt will reimburse every soldier in full. So in turn, the Govt just paid Delta for this and Delta knows it.
My dad is a USMC veteran and my bf is a corpsman. I worked on many military bases, so I've heard a lot of what our soldiers have to do and sacrifice for our country. This is absolutely infuriating to me, and money is deffinitly NOT the issue! It is the principle! I don't care if business is going down and they're in the red!! That was so grimey of Delta!!
That was took my breath away. If they have specific orders as to what to carry with them and they are following their orders, they should not have to pay. Plus if there is a contract that says Delta needs to allow whatever's on the soldier's orders, then Delta was out of line.
I salute men and women who choose to put their life on the line for whatever their country sends them out to do!
I am thankful you are home safely and hope you get to see your families very soon! God bless!
Whether appropriate or not delta was just plain wrong. My son proudly serves in the Army and if this is how businesses want to treat the men and woman that provide the very freedom you enjoy maybe they need to spend a day in there boots
The extra $200 expense should be seen as a business expense that needs reimbursement from the organization that required the trip. If a businessman was to travel and had to pay $200 for his 4th bag of luggage, the businessman would submit his receipts for reimbursement from the company that required the trip. The money should not come from Delta refunding anything. Instead, the expense should be submitted to the US Army and reimbursed to the soldiers through reimbursement channels in accounting
That's messed up! Ssgt. I hope you guys get your money back. As a fellow military brother serving in the Navy, I don't understand how stupid these people are and can be.
It makes me SICK that they did this! Personally I think bags should always fly free for ya'll on EVERY AIRLINE REGARDLESS! Bags fly free on my airline ;-) (though I will just let you have to guess who I work for) but I don't know about our military luggage amount. If there is a charge I wish they would just take it out of our (the Employees) paychecks so you don't have to worry about it on your long weary way home. Welcome Home soldiers! Thanks for everything that you do! We LUV ya!
Yo, im sorry that they charge you and others soldiers for your luggages, not only me but i know there are others who appreciate and want to say Thank You for serving and Protecting our Country.
I pray Airlines will not do this anymore, so sorry ... God Bless
@wtravers326 Hey now, I may be a little of a Liberal myself...PLEASE don't label us with her. We Liberals LOVE AND RESPECT our military 120% I in fact (since everybody says we love taxes so much) suggested to my coworkers that we all pay a little bit in our paychecks so they can check all their bags for free if the Company is so smitten on charging them on or after 4 bags...I never charge a Soldier for anything once on board the aircraft...so just please don't confuse Liberals with that idiot
@koochy79 Please accept my sincere apology. The comment was solely directed to mrcharms72, and of course anyone else who agrees with him. My daughter just came back with a purple heart, I doubt mrcharms72 has any clue what our military people go through. He/she obviously lives in a plastic bubble. Thank you koochy79 for what you do for our soldiers once on board the aircraft! GOD BLESS YOU!
Suck it up!! You'll get reimbursed when you file a travel claim. Nice way to represent your unit. And so much for OPSEC. What other kinds of weapons you put in your bags. Idiots!
@mrcharms72 military orders stated that each soldier was allowed to check up to four bags free of charge. Delta airlines are contracted for US military.... so yea the soldiers are not doing anything wrong. U must be one of those military haters.
I am a vet. and understand your frustration during your logistical nightmare, but...... SHIT HAPPENS. You should have taken this up with Delta after you got home instead making your unit look like a bunch whining, cry baby ground pounders. Your CO should make you post an apology on youtube for this stunt. Show a little dignity. Your in the US Military...your better than this.
That's crazy. My niece in the military. All US Arm Forces should boycott American Airlines and use Southwest Airlines. Their using that fact these soldiers want to get home as a payday and that's SAD.....
I'M OUTRAGED!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT IN MY SONG TO YOU WONDERFUL MEN! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO ON THE USO TOUR & MAKE Y'ALL SMILE! LISTEN TO MY SONG. IT WAS WRITTEN FOR YOU ;) They won't let me post the link, but it's on itunes under "WHAT ABOUT NOW" by Ashlee Ricci
As of today that policy has been changed. Delta airlines fly's Military charter flt's constantly with nothing but people in our military on board and they can bring on anything they want and as much as they want. This was not a military charter, it was scheduled flt and same rules applied to everyone until today. Today the rules have changed for people in uniform.
CEO of Delta Airlines: Richard H. Anderson is also chairman of the Air Transport Association Board of Directors, serves as director on Boards of Cargill, Inc., Medtronic, Inc., & Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. A native of Galveston, TX Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. Founder of Delta Airlines: Collett Everman Woolman. Are these the modern day "Merchants of Venice"; Jews who demand a pound of flesh! 88!
Are you freakin kidding me??? Not only did these soliders protect our freedoms, but they made it home...ALIVE. I'm sure all they want to do is get home to their family as quickly as possible. In my opinion....not only should they have not been charged for extra baggage (which contains items to keep them alive), but a free ride home. Shame on you Delta. To ALL the soliders THANK YOU for risking your lives for us and our freedom, even the a** holes like Delta.
At no point should a soldier have to pay for his bags. Thats ridiculous. They fight for your freedom and try to come home and end up having to pay to come home. Way to welcome the soldiers home Delta.
It doesn't matter how much they paid for the bag, it should have never been a question. Our soldiers should not have to worry about paying for any bags. They have been fighting for our freedom and have seen things we cannot even comprehend and they have to worry about a 4th bag. Shame Shame Delta!
I worked for delta- you all have travel credit cards that most soldiers will often flaunt and say things like "i dont have to pay so charge away"- and yeah- you'll get your money back.........

Peace.
jacob7207 8 months ago
You should be charging Delta for the freedom you are providing for them to even exist as a company AND for the safety you are adding to their flights. Absolutely ridiculous. Whatever invalid made this call deserves to be reprimanded immediately. I travel all around the world and I will NEVER fly Delta Airlines again.
jazitt 8 months ago 2
All i heard was "whine whine whine, i should get special treatment".
You're going to get reimbursed. This is the sort of thing you should expect while travelling for business/work, just put it on your card and get reimbursed later.

See that combat boot right at the end there? He should insert it so far up the CEO's ass that he tastes remorse every time he takes a bite of his own shitty airline food.

Delta Airlines started in my hometown of Monroe, Louisiana. That was a source of pride for our town until now. Now, I'm embarrassed they even exist. These soldiers have been overseas for who knows how long and this is how they're welcomed back? I'll never fly Delta again.

aleah2484 8 months ago
@frantahouska the fuss is they had to pay the money out of their pocket (not the government's) and put in a travel voucher when they returned home... you may have never been in the military but the last thing i would want to do when i return from afghanistan is pay some airline the money that i just made being shot at dick...
MrPastortonsils 8 months ago
I think thats its awesome that delta increased the amount of checked baggage because of these soldiers. Maybe Ill have to make one of these videos when i return from afghanistan... Im a military working dog handler. I get charged $350 to check my working dog mocha ALSO the standard four bags, then i also get charged for mocha's bag which has his food toys and equipment so we can do our job. Maybe delta should think about soldiers like mocha and myself before jumping to four bags as the max...

Commercial airlines charge for their business. If the government pays fine, but why should a business offer special benefits to anyone? I really don't see what the problem is because they will be reimbursed.

Delta Airlines is a pile of crap. Their frequent flyer program is a fraud, too. After I had booked enough flights for my free trip, every seat to 5 destinations was full for a year! Unless, of course, I was PAYING.
ZarahLean 8 months ago

That was so grimey of Delta!!

oops! *That took my breath away... watch out, pregnant lady typing! hehe
yariboricua 8 months ago
That was took my breath away. If they have specific orders as to what to carry with them and they are following their orders, they should not have to pay. Plus if there is a contract that says Delta needs to allow whatever's on the soldier's orders, then Delta was out of line.
I salute men and women who choose to put their life on the line for whatever their country sends them out to do!
I am thankful you are home safely and hope you get to see your families very soon! God bless!
yariboricua 8 months ago

We LUV ya!

It doesn't matter how much they paid for the bag, it should have never been a question. Our soldiers should not have to worry about paying for any bags. They have been fighting for our freedom and have seen things we cannot even comprehend and they have to worry about a 4th bag. Shame Shame Delta!
