  • Great tutorial. Thanks a million for posting these. I enjoy this "spontaneous runthrough style"! I fell like it might give you the opportunity to mention something in your video you might not have mentioned otherwise. I just discovered your videos thanks to a shoutout from Lot2Learn. Cool seeing you two jam together!

  • Tritone of A flat is E natural ?

    Enjoying your videos though !

  • @FredKpiano Tritone of A flat is D natural or Mibb.

    Greetings.

  • nice tutorial thank you!

  • very nice. I believe the chord at 1:20 was a D add flat 9 (D F# A E flat)

  • Excellent video! ... What's the name of the software that's displaying the notes on the top of the screen? ... It 'interprets' the note values just perfectly...

  • Mail4ij,

It midikeyz. A link is in the description of this video. Great piece of software.

  • This is awesome!

I really like that you explain the way you think of those chords in order to build them quicker and remember them. For example the diminished chord with the minor chord with the root on the tritone of the dim chord on top: 3:40

I think every bit of the lesson is precious, and there's absolutely no time wasted! Thanks a lot!

  • Thanks nukepcr. I'm glad you brought that example up. I misspoke and need to correct it -- the minor chord is built on the +5 (E) not the -5(D, or tritone of Ab). I hope that's not too confusing. I also think "OK minor chord built on the note a major third down from the root of the diminished chord. It's a short hand way of thinking about it. Thanks!

  • Hehe I was thinking about the 5+ too when I said tritone. Also at 1:34 when you say the second and the third I think you meant the third and the seventh (of the F7 chord) or maybe you were talking about fingers. :)) Why are there so many numbers involved when talking about music? It's VERY confusing. You not playing the roots most of the time is also confusing. I guess it sounds better? And is it a must if you have a bass player?

    Those are some sick chords!

  • Thanks nukepcr. Sometimes I prefer to leave out the root to imply the chord instead of stating it. It's just a different sound color.

  • you are a great musician

  • Thanks!

  • it's kind a catchy music, i'm finding it very hard to follow ^^T

  • machster100, These are fairly advanced concepts. I would suggest you just take the bits and pieces of the video that make sense to you and find a way to incorporate them into your own playing.

Thanks for watching. I hope there is something in there you find helpful.

  • It's a bit hard for me to follow but I was fascinated all the same. Just wish I could play better.

    Mike

  • Thank you!

  • When I played this, I went Yay! These are the best tutorials in town! It's just like having a live lesson that I can rewind at will. Thanks a bunch!

  • Thanks knotty75. It's hard to know where to pitch it. I'm glad you found it helpful.

  • thank you very much ^^
