  • Amazing voice!

  • I hope some day PALESTINIANS will sing that song and israelis will clap! And Israel will be a secular state not jewish state, and Palestin also secular not muslim state.

  • It's so funny that I take it for granted that I know exactly what she is singing, while probably most of the viewers.....don't.. lol

Anyway..She was a great singer! too bad she had gone to fast..:(

  • Der groster teil der Deutschen sind wieder geworden Nazis. Die halten mit die Araber.

    Wir brauchen sie toten.

    Mehr Feind Mehr Ehr!

  • @DM5ive9: But even so, the Germans of 1983 weren't the same people as the Germans of 1938. Germany had already at this point spent thirtyeight years feeling guilty for what happened during the Nazi era, and anyone younger than that wasn't even born before it ended. So I really hope Israel didn't intend this entry to be a "smiling 'fuck you'" to the host country, where most people in 1983 would have been totally innocent of any crime against Jews.

  • Comment removed

  • The best part of this song is that it's really just a smiling "fuck you" to Germany! :) I would have loved to have seen the faces of the Germans in the audience.

  • @fucku2685 If you think the all germans were/are nazi's, than remenber that thousands of germans also did died in kz, and thousands of them did help and protected some other people (we are all homo sapiens sapiens).Greetings

  • @fucku2685 Of course the Germans in the audience understood and spoke

Hebrew fluently,so they really knew it was a "smiling fuck you" to them ....

and they then liked it so much that they applauded enthusiastically.

You really have a deep knowledge of the world, history and mentalities that you understood all of this !

  • she sounds like she's on playback. thats how good her voice is. wowww. great song!

  • Gilad Shalit is Free!!!

    Am israel Chay!! :)

  • backup singers are moussad.

  • @DM5ive9

i think what i was trying to say is not clear here. anyways. lets close this topic. because i dont wanna be seem like a enemy . i really like israel. and more i love ofra haza and her songs.

  • georgous ofra love you forever

  • what a load of SHITE . IS RA EL and turkey are not part of EUROPE . PERIOD !

  • @7geordie: Maybe not, but as their television companies are members of the EBU, they're allowed to participate in the ESC, and they've done so since the 70s. Morocco even participated once (in 1980), and Tunisia and Lebanon have also both been close to participate, until they pulled out because they wouldn't show Israel's entry in their broadcasts.

  • Amazing, happy and cathcy song, I love this one and Ofra Haza was a great singer ande beautiful, I think Israel definitely deserved the victory in 1983 =)

  • @Valtteri2: They sure did. Of course, Israel had already won twice since Luxembourg's latest victory at that point. But still, Ofra Haza was the real winner of that year, and Luxembourg was awfully overrated three years in a row (1982, 1983 and 1984).

  • @Furienna thank you, This is the song from 1983 that's always been my number one(since i became a eurovision fan eight years ago) and I can see that so many others feel that way too. And I think Ofra's voice is really beautiful, whereas Corinne's voice is a bit "harsh", sounds like she's shouting =)it's a nice song too, but Israel's song is magical :)

  • @Valtteri2: Indeed, while "Si la vie est cadeau" might have been a good song, if it had been sung by another singer, Corrinne Hermés wasn't the right one to carry it. She both sounded and looked strained. Ofra Haza was both more talented and (sorry for sounding shallow here, but it's true) more beautiful. I don't understand how Luxembourg beat Israel that year, even though it only was by six points.

  • peace between israel and turkey

  • best of 1983 eurovision. should have won instead of luxembourg's boring song

  • thumbs up for the componer who is practically dancing along at 2:27!!! :D:D:D:D

  • germans killed jews, jews killing palestanians, turkish people dont support that. however we killed armenians, armenians killed azerbeijanis.france support armenians but they killed algerians...

UNFORTUNATLY THIS IS THE FUCKING RULE OF THE WORLD.

  • @okannnl go spread your lies someone else .... Jews never killed any arabs unless they were coming to commit a terror act and also Armenia didn't kill any Azeris - you are so full of lies or perhaps you live in your bubble

  • @SimsMoyal

although i support Israel , i still think that they kill arabs. but why i support israel, because they are killing the terrorists. what i meant in my previous comment is, jews suppose to be the kindest and peacefull country in the world. because they know the feeling how to be killed. In my bubble, even armenia accepts they killied azeris in 90's. i mentioned armenians because its same as jews. they had genocide. they lost 1 million people. they shouldnt have made anther genocide .

  • @okannnl those are stupid lies - Jews are not killing any Arabs unless they are coming to bomb a bus of a restaurant or what so ever - the case is the opposite - so far only Arabs has declared their homicidal purposes against Jews - so stop twisting the truth please - it looks really pathetic.

  • BRAVO ISRAEL ,,,,,,

  • ISRAEL U SHINE SO BRIGHT !!!!

    WE LOVE YOU !!!

  • this song for listening for 2-4 times. no more. french song from Luxemburg is more beautiful and wonderful Sweden as well.

  • SHALOM VERY NICE SONG TODA RABA !!!!!

  • Singing this song (alive) on a German stage, was a win by itself regardless of politicly influenced votes.

  • They chose the wrong song this year, I cant remember the winner it was that forgetfull.

L´chaim!

  • shalom very nice SONG i love ofra !!!!

  • unfortionately, she is not with us today.

    we all miss her

and this song is very relevant to our current reality as well

    god bless her and israel

  • israel is the only democratic country in the middle east.

we can't challange counrties like iran syria and those who kill woman just because they are showing their faces in the streets

  • @WineBeerLover Actually, have many countries beside Europe accept to participate in Eurovision Song Contest. Israel, Cyprus, Azerbaidjan, Georgia and Armenia (Turkey and Russia is partly in Europe). And many other countries in middle east and north africa may participate as well. Did you know, that Morocco did participate in the Song Contest 1980? The other countries, who may participate, but not do it is Algeria, Tunesia, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan & Lebanon.

  • am yisrael od chai!!! l'netzach

  • @WineBeerLover

israel is not in europe like cyprus, like turkey ( my country) like azerbaijan. georgia azerbaijan and russia ( biggest part of the country ) so are you going to their song and comment same thing for them??

  • @okannnl cause Israel in in the union . and Russia is in Asia b.t.w

  • @liorbm

    i said the same

  • @okannnl sorry i meant WineBeerLover comment :)

  • Probablemente la voz más impresionante que ha pasado por eurovisión. ¿Cómo pueden Ofra Haza o Celine Dion compartir escenario con lo que se lleva ahora al festival?

  • She was magnificent -- and should have won.

  • I first listened ofra haza in 1984 and I fall in love with her,my love keeps going, she is so natural so pure not found in these days.

  • Israel rocks!

  • Great. Just white and yellow : |

  • I don't know if it's coincidence but this song is about not losing hope and the nation of Israel still being alive. This is sung is Germany in 1983. Shall I expand?

  • @GoCardinal2012 no coincidence, I think.

well, they are sending a transexual to Germany this year:D

  • wooooowwwwwwwwwwwww what a voice really sorry shes not with us any more god i hate politics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she's SO AMAZING!!!

    peace to Israel from Turkey!

    we are never enemies!

Remove this idiot and IHH supporters and we will go back to Turkey.

  • @TheTurkishboy90 can u tell the families of the victims Turks who were killed by Israeli army

  • @kuwaitstory

OMG SHUT THE FUCK UP..EVERYBODY KILLS EVERYBODY..YOU CANNOT CATEGORIZE PEOPLE!WE ALL KILL EACH OTHER...BROTHERS KILLING BROTHERS...

  • @TheTurkishboy90 how can you force him to step down?

  • @TheTurkishboy90

you have no idea, this singer ofra haza is yemeni jewish, and she song in arabic many times, you just have arabphobia

  • @EsamAlabasi i don't have problems with most of arabs and their culture.

i just hate our government, getting enemies with israel

  • Just fabulous. Wonderful singer.

  • the best song in the esc of 1983 !

  • Israel is Turks best friend and will be forever . We want peace between Jews and Arabs in the region . Lovely country and lovely people .Actually We never had problems with Jews . Peace will survive .

  • Ofra,maite zaitut. Goian bego

  • @TheArabiandesert the Arabian Merda

  • Her voice makes me get goosebumps, no joke

  • Really Great Song...including the words!....hard to believe it didn't win back in 1983.

  • AM ISRAEL CHAI :) !

    love u ofra

  • I like Ofra Haza but this isn't exactly the stuff of hers I'm used to.

  • Ofra Haza R.I.P

  • Nothing against Luxembourg that year (3th place after Israel and Sweden would be very well deserved) but time showed pretty clearly that Ofra Khaza should have won. Perhaps 12 points from Israel to Luxembourg prevented her from gold.

  • beautifull !!!!

  • עופרה חזה הייתה זמרת גדולה !!! אם לא הייתה את מלחמת לבנון ה-1 באותו הזמן אז היא הייתה לוקחת מקום 1!!!

  • R.I.P. Ofra. one of the most talented singers ever.

  • AMAZING!

עפרה היית נפלאה. זוכרים אותך באהבה!!!!!

    everlasting song :)

  • Sweden or Israel should have won that year

  • Anyway, it's one of the best songs ever in Eurovision Song Contest and it was quite better than the winner

  • @gstq2001 מדהים! הייתי מוסיפה גם בחצי השני של השיר צבע כחול לבן

  • CHAI! ;-)

  • que triste que este muerta ,era una gran cantante

  • @TheArabiandesert she got it from her husband (the AIDS)

  • Am Israel Chai!!!!!! <3

  • sung on german soil, before she sang this song she visited the concentration camp-dachau. she was told by a holocaust survivor that while she sing chai to the europeans she should remember what she saw in dachau. am yisrael chai!

  • hülye fasz. :D

  • Shame on you!!

  • @danilomihaljcic

    Go 2 Hell

  • @shhjhj sei un grande coglione

  • Comment removed

  • Have you ever thought why the dancers are all dress in yellow , and what is the meaning of jews wearing yellow on their clothes in Germany ?

  • i love ofra haza!!!!!! i wish she was still alive.... that way she could show us her AMAZING voice!!!

  • @ChangaManga1000 ....Its called the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST....not European. Hence all countries that receive and participate in the Eurovision satelite feed(EBU) are eligible to participate..this includes Israel Malta Turkey Cyprus Armenia Morocco Tunisia Russia Lebanon and Qatar.NOW YOU KNOW WHY!

  • @mylandiskenya Could Qatar actually participate????? That wouldn't be the Eurovision Song Contest any longer! Morocco has a border with Spain, if Israel can, why not Lebanon, Tunisia is close to Europe and Armenia too. But Qatar?!!!

  • @nmgscpThe "European Broadcasting Areas include the western part of the former USSR and Saudi Arabia. In addition, Iraq, Jordan and Turkey lying outside the above limits are included in the European Broadcasting Area.

Several countries geographically outside the boundaries of Europe have competed in"Le concours Eurovision de la Chanson Européenne" these nations include your nemesis "Israel" and the following ,Cyprus, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lebanon and Morocco.I HOPE NOW YOU REALLY KNOW.

  • @nmgscp Qatar cannot compete because they're not EBU member. Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Algeria and Morocco are EBU members, so they can. Morocco has done that in 1980: watch?v=x3e26zZSEws Lebanon attempted to compete in 2005. Then it transpired that Lebanese TV were planning to interrupt the broadcast during the Israeli song. It's against the rules so they were suspended. Any Arab country who do NOT plan to interrupt the broadcast are invited to take part.

  • PS The rule is that any participating country must broadcast the entire show.

  • @anorak2 I'm mighty surprised the Europeans didn't go along with the Lebanese wish to disrupt the broadcast during the Israeli song. when it comes to treatment of Israel the Europeans have proven they're willing to bend just about any rule.

  • @mylandiskenya Turkey and Russia are considered bi-continental (so, european too) and Malta is an island in the Mediterranean between Africa and Europe... If it's not african, then it's european, or bi-continental too.

  • @ChangaManga1000 W ISRAEL siviliziet people middle east no

  • This song SO should have won! Ofra was robbed! One of the strongest Israeli ESC entries ever, and it got beaten by that BORING ballad from Luxembourg!

  • is true

  • I so agree with you, but oh well, at least she came 2nd.

  • @Furienna Yeah. It is annoying when great songs come so near and yet so far though. I can think of several other examples from ESC history;

    Germany 1980

    UK 1993

    Germany 1987

and most annoyingly in my opinion

    Ukraine 2007

  • Well, I can only agree with you about 1983. I think Spain should have won instead of Norway in 1995 though.

  • @verkaforever

I heard this song was robbed because the eurovision 1983 took place in Germany and Germany didnt want this song to win the first place since this song was about the victims from Munich Olympics in 1972.

  • @singingindark12 That sounds likely. ESC is still rigged to this day. It has been proven that it was rigged in 2008, and I think there was something dodgy in 2006 and 2007. The 2006 winner was not an ESC song- even people who liked it admitted it was not right for ESC. And in 2007 something obviously wasn't right. No-one remembers the winer now, but the runner-up got all the hype before the contest and recently appeared in a countdown of the 20 best ESC songs.

  • @verkaforever: It doesn't sound likely at all. This song isn't about the Munich Olympics incident. And I'm sorry, but Ukraine 2007 was the least deserved runner-up ever. But then, 2007 wasn't a strong year anyway.

  • I LIKE SO MUCH GREETINS FROM SPAIN :)

  • Respect this wonderfull singer and respect Israel for its patience with palestinians to not nuclear bombed palestine to kingdom come! I might have done so long ago becouse it seems there are living only apes in palestina who dont know anything about history. Still great song and learns to us love each other no matter what the culture or language! AM ISRAEL CHAI!

  • I love this song and singer. She's great. A pity that she isn't anymore.

  • BRAVO

  • wonderful song and singer

  • israel is the baste from u.s.a.

  • Great song, and great singer!!! Stop talking about politics, and respect this great woman!!!

  • @paredper

she will be the greatest singer ever.

    andreas,greece

  • you are right about that;)

  • Let's go to 20Aug 1993.

The Israel government and Yaaser Arafat have signed the Oslo agreement.

I admit, at the beginning, many of us in Israel were afraid and unhappy from this agreement.

But after sometime, we start to enjoy this temporarily peace.

The economic of both sides has arised.

Everything went well until 19 Oct 1994.

In a suicide terror attack, 22 people killed and 47 people injured. This terror attack was only a start of a series of terror attacks.

If we will forget the past, we will

  • Ofra R.I.P. you were wonderful

  • Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and other Arab states are members of the EBU, and can participate too, if they wanted. Lebanon was scheduled to preform in 2005, but they wanted to cut the broadcast and go to commercial during the Israeli entry, and therefor had to withdraw. Israel had no problem with the broadcast of the Lebanese song, or with their withdrawal, and the amazing Shiri Maimon finished 4th. I bet an Egyptian or Jordanian entries might actually get some Televotes from the Israeli public!

  • I only have one question, it's a euro competition, what does Israel have to do with it? Just curious...:)

  • The Arabs keep Isreal out of anything Asian so thi is the next best option.

  • the israel people keeps the arab out of anything from the west

the only colonial state on earth left is israel

  • As a Dutchman you should know about colonies, to bad you lost them to the English!! Please with your great knowlege, enlighten us as to where the Israeli colonies are.

  • Are you sure?

Ever heard about Russia and China?

Forgot that the land which U.S govern was belong to the Indians 200 years ago?

I don't mind have discussion whether we have the right to control the holly land or not, but claiming that Israel is the only colonial state left is a bad joke.

  • i am talking about now, not about 200 years ago you moron. What can i do for the indians! I maybe can rescue my fellowpalestianian nowadays. Excuse me for my bad english.

  • If you want a real discussion, lets keep our lagnuage "clean". That's will be a good start.

The world is always trying to take a position. Who is the good side and who is the bad side.

But the reality is more complex.

If you want to discuss, use the personal message in YouTube.

  • By the way, regardless of politics, this song is beautiful.

  • since the paticipating countries are the ones the belong to the europian broadcasting union thats why countries such as Armenia,Georgia and more are also participating

  • Its a Competition of the EBU,the"European Broadcasting Union"which has not only European Members. For Example Libya,Tunesia or Jordan are Members, too & could take Part if they want, but they wont because of Israel.Morokko took Part in 1980 when Israel retract for 1 Year & Lebanon tried to take Part in 2005,but the Channel wasnt allowed by the Government to broadcast the Israeli Entry,& so they retract, too.North African Countries are Members, because they belonged to France when EBU was founded...

  • Israel is allowed to be a Member, because they are inside the European Broadcasting Area, where even Saudi-Arabia & Iraq are, but they dont really want to be Members. Quatar wants to be a Member but isn´t allowed, because it´s outside of the EBA...

I hope, I didn´t write it too complicated & could help you:-)

    Greetings from Germany!!!

PS: I love this Song!!! Ofra is so wonderfull & Hebrew is such a great Language. Even if you only understand "Israel" & "Chay":-)

  • Oh I see, you are from Egypt. Great, that you are interested in such Things without making bad Propaganda about Israel (I think me, as a German, I am allowed to say that:-). Egypt is a Member of the EBU, too, so it also could compete, if the Broadcaster wants to. Please correct me if I´m wrong, but I think Egypt has better Relationship to Israel than every other Arabic Country, so maybe 1 Time, it will compete:-)

  • Well, if Egypt will invite Israel to join a competition with all the countries in the middle east, Israel may move from the Euro area to Arabs area. :)

  • Great song, great singer, great performance. Ofra Haza was (is) a gift of God to many.

  • This is the true Israel spirit. I love everything about this video. Especially Ofra's amazing performance. SO beautiful!

  • this is so cool! go israel!

  • This was such a great year! So many amazing songs!

  • This page SHOULD be about art MUSIC..those of as who feel a very strong need to express our political views shoulsd look in the internet for other forums..not to mentions lessons in english in particular alternatives to the word"fuck"--You wil be surprised to all the possibilities you may apply ;-)

Music is a universal language, lets keep it like that?
