Brilliant. They sound awesome. I would play a set like this all the time. Really cool beat, complex coolness to it. Not to check out St. Vincent. Thanks for the cover!
ahhh i know nothing about drumming and i never everr notice them in music but i have to say, they always stand out in her music... she always comes up with the slightly-off, grooviest beats...&$^%& this sounds identical to the track!
@entertainer106 - Thanks for the kind words and support fellow St. Vincent lover. Excited for her new album this Sept? =D Btw, you covered Neighbors beautifully! Ms. Clarke's voice is unique to say the least, and to even do it justice seems incredibly difficult. But you succeeded. All my best to you and thanks again for the kind words. =)
@octoberdays You're very welcome, and thank you--it's actually of "The Strangers" but yes, I have a few singing styles and I can relate to hers so I really enjoy singing her songs, though sadly I lack any equipment for proper YouTube performances. I am a big fan, indeed. I am excited and she has a new music video premiering this Thursday (and a little bird told me it's not for "Surgeon"). Enjoy and good luck to you, too.
@entertainer106 - hmmm... =/ embarrassing song name mistake from a supposed big fan. =) I would highly recommend you invest a little money into recording equipment to get your passion out there. There are very reasonable, small and convenient tools you can get these days. They aren't free of course, but they are cheap compared to professional equipment and can make you look/sound just as good! Look into the Kodak Zi8 mini camcorders and Zoom H4n Portable Recorders. All the best!
@octoberdays I definitely would love to invest in some affordable equipment! My dream is to one day have a studio or just be able to at least record in one, but this would be great, too. I really appreciate the tips and will research them! Hopefully they're within my budget and accessible! Thanks again! Also, I just did my own little a cappella (of course) cover of "All My Stars Aligned" if you want to check it out :P Keep drumming!
@drex48239 - I'm seriously glad you told me that. Any drummer who likes this music would do themselves a lot of good service and have a lot of fun drumming to her stuff. It is all amazing.
@Salvatoredrummer - Hey Salvatore. The updated video description holds all the answers. Come back and check it out. But it's a GenX Benny Greb signature trash hat - inverted and stacked.
@timmy585 - Thanks Timmy. I will hopefully be posting up a couple vlogs within the next 2 weeks which will explain a lot of what's taking me so long to do a lot of stuff. hahaha. You'll understand more later. Just so you know, don't expect Apartment Story anytime too soon. Though I'd like to do it, it is taking me a long time to figure out the little weird tom-type stuff going on during the choruses. And plus I can't play the 16th notes fast enough yet. But I'll be working on it. =)
I love this - I'd never heard of St. Vincent, but I just visited their website. I watched "Laughing with a Mouth of Blood", very "Waiting for Guffman". I can't wait to hear some more. Just listened to Jonas Bjerre's soundtrack for the movie Skyscraper, and you'll probably dig it. The drums aren't anything special (it's more vocal, keyboard and guitar heavy) but musically, there are some similarities.
@LmnMrnG - Thanks Laraine! =) Yes, "Laughing.." is one of my all time fav St. Vincent songs. I also wanted to cover that one, but there really isn't enough to it. I think people would fall asleep watching me play it. =) And yes, that video is awesome, amazing and hilarious. Check out my updated description on this vid as to why I HAD to cover this! =) ... and thanks for the info, but I'm still a bit bitter about being denied a new Mew album... =/ =)
@octoberdays Your wife's birthday is the day before mine! haha There are so many concerts in St. Louis - I had no idea it was such a happening place! (Says the girl who grew up in the urban center of nowhere.)
@LmnMrnG - Hahaha. St. Louis is actually a pretty big city. It's about 5 hours away from Chicago (which dwarfs us in size though). It is a regular stop for all big bands seeing as how we have sports teams and such. So I'm fortunate for that. But I will say that even though St. Louis is a "city," it feels more like a small town in how the people treat each other. Very kind for the most part. And it seems everyone knows everyone through someone or another... wait, did that make sense? =/
@octoberdays Well, that's pretty darn lucky for you. I'm spending the next 6 weeks in Juneau, AK, and the last time I went to a concert, the artist made it a point to say, "We all know this is probably the first and last time I'm coming here, so let's make this count." haha
@nightshot999 - Thanks Daniel! =) Just so you know, what you're seeing is actually an old snare head upside down on top of the main snare. The snare head is double ply and the ply closest to me is actually wrinkled. But it sounds really cool! =) I've updated the video description in case you want more details. Thanks again man.
RIP Tony, you were an excellent drummer. I don't know what else to say.

So, so, very good! I love this. I don't play drums but to me, this seems very complex even for a skilled drummer.

SexyJowdan 6 months ago
@SexyJowdan yes, and the cymbal he uses as a high-hat is on a high-hat stand. It's creative but gets the job done.

Nice work. The ozone effexxx cymbal seems to do the job over the china. trash hats translate well. Boner time.

@drumsnotdead1 - Easy on the creepy talk dood. People are going to wonder what the hell is wrong with you.
And it's actually a Zildjian K EFX, not a Sabian O-zone - you dumbass. Yea, they're actually 2 totally different companies. Believe it or not.
To anyone else reading this, I've known this fool since 3rd grade. Do not be alarmed.
