@Braniel1000 don't get caught up with all that tweaking bull$shit, it's not going to make you sound any better. There's nothing wrong with Generation whistles "off the shelf".
@FailteSlainte If you don't know the name of the tune, why do you post what some app tells you it might be? The second one is the one I play after Banks of Lough Gowna and can't remember the name of (one of Tom Billys' maybe?), the first one is one I've played but never got the name of - and I didn't need a machine to tell me that!
@SdeCiduus Fair enough. Tommy Peoples calls it Tom Billy's - I think it's also called "the Bank of Turf when it's played more like a slide. I doubt there'll be a correct answer to find. The funny thing, to my mind, is the idea of consulting a computer to resolve this question. If you know the tune, it doesn't matter if you don't know the name, and if you don't know the tune, it doesn't matter if you do know the name, now does it?
@andrewjacksonist It isn't the same Maid on the Green that she plays on Feadoga Stain 2! They are completely different tunes and I am more inclined to believe that the album track is correctly named. Unless there were two maids on the green, having a meeting!
wonderful!

The first is "The Maid on the Green". The second tune is a version of "The Gallant Tipperary Boys" and associated with Padraig O'Keefe.

That's Maid on the Green. Geese in the Bog sounds quite differently.

@jkiparsk The first tune is 'The Maid On The Green', and the second Mary Bergin just calls 'Padraig O'Keefe's'

Anyone know the name of the first tune?
principalbass 1 year ago
Yes it's an Eb Generation, probably an old one, well selected..
She was my teacher in 1981 at the Scoil Eigse in Buncrana. Mary is a nice person, a fine tutor and an excellent musician.
edelahaye 1 year ago
@edelahaye I reckon that's a Bb Whistle!
Music sounds so much nicer in Bb & C, it's such a shame it ever shifted up! :-(
