  • whats the difference between square and circle?

  • Gaffer looks like Peter Griffin on ketamine.

  • best advert ever! :D

  • If it was made today the PC loonies would insist on one third of the Tetley tea folk being black.

  • @duckgeezer i know, how horrible seeing black people in adverts.

  • @kdreamland I have nothing against black people. What I object to is them being RAMMED down my throat every time I turn my TV on.

  • @duckgeezer i know. having a black family in eastenders, and every single advert has black people in it. how wrong. really the adverts are made in ENGLAND, so they should only show ENGLISH PEOPLE, ie whites only. No black in the union jack.

  • @kdreamland plenty of black people ARE English. How does skin colour define "Englishness"? Surely it should be to do with where you're born, otherwise every white person would be English.

  • @TheRushingWind i forgot to put /sarcasm at the end of my post. look at the post I am replying to.

  • @TheRushingWind No, the English race, are white. You cannot change that, sorry.

That is basic history and genetics. English people are white, Black people can be British if they wish to call themselves so, but English?

    No.

Where were the Black English you speak of in this country 100 years ago? They didnt exist, because they are not part of English culture and its history, they are descendants of recent immigrants.

  • @duckgeezer I have nothing against white people. What I object to is them being RAMMED down my throat every time I turn my TV on - expecially as there are loads more whites than blacks on TV.

  • @TheRushingWind Erm...yes, that also probably has something to do with the fact that the country is historically white and British, has been for thousands of years, and is still (for the moment at least) 85-90% white and British.

So obviously you see mostly whites on TV in this country. Doesnt take a genius to work that out.

  • @Kozzy06 where did you learn history from, grafitti in the school toilets? The country has not been historically British - it has been taken over again and again by various races (Aglo, Norman, Saxon, etc etc etc). Doesn't take someone with more than a few brain cells to know that.

  • @TheRushingWind I know my history, this country has been white british, for tens of thousands of years now, that is what our entire culture, history, heritage, and country is founded and built upon.

You may want to, but you cannot change that fact, English people as a race, are not black, they are white. Not opinion, fact.

Every single country on this planet has the right to protect its indigenous population (White British) and keep them the overwhelming majority and dominant parent culture.

  • @Kozzy06 stop reading the Daily Mail and read a history book

  • thats better thats tetley

  • what is the purpose of it?

  • lol

  • Its Brian Glover

  • @antifugazi the one who played the pig in Now 3 - 5 ads

  • lol he said T-bag

  • Shit, who remembers the special teaspoons they had? they need to bring back these characters

  • @laurencefrazer they have brought them back

  • Musical parodys for adverts, when will it die.

  • lol. teatime isnt boring anymore

  • roses are red, nuts are brown, skirts go up, pants go down, body to body, skin to skin, when its stiff stick it in, it goes in dry, comes out wet, the longer its in, the stronger it gets, it comes out dripping, it starts to sag, its not what you think, its a tetlys tea bag :D.

  • Anybody have any idea what the funny hats were all about? Or are they some sort of wig? It all seemed to make sense when I was just a child...

  • @lozcroft Funny hats?? They're flat caps as traditionally worn by, (stereotypically), northern manual workers of old. Although, I will admit they are a bit bigger than usua! Tetley used the, 'tea folk', for a number of years in their ads and always had the late, great Brian Glover as the voice of Gaffer, (the one with the round specks),

  • this used to amaze me haahah

  • haha great advert, was the idea behind round bags that there were no corners for the tea to get stuck in or something? and then pg comer along with even more corners, but in a pyramid!

im not sure it all makes a difference but im definately a PG man

  • whitch is better? this or pg tips pyramid

    1's?

  • Peter Grriffan looks like him.

  • lol old ass adverts own

  • My gran still has the little men that came free with the tea bags.

  • So do I.

  • Too bad Tetley is crap!

  • I always hated those damn little men with the saggy hats.

But I loved the advert where it goes

'When I wake up in the morning love..... and the sunlight hurts my eyes..... e.t.c'

  • Bring Back the Tetley People!!! lol

  • remember the toys of the little men they gave away?

  • Kids today have no idea how exciting it was when round tea bags came out. I remember my head teacher making the announcement in assembly, nobody could do any work all day because of the excitement and in the end they sent us home. My brother stopped smoking pot because he said he didn't need it anymore - round tea bags were enough. God bless the scientists at Tetleys for changing our lives forever.

  • You sound like Hugh from the "hello hugh" sketch off the armando iannucci show

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the week the round tea bags came out wasn't it mentioned in Prime Minister's Questions? I believe their was only one question that week, and that was about the new round bags. John Major cut the meeting short that week and the house all enjoyed a nice round cuppa brew!

  • Yes and also relatively unknown is the fact that almost all of the money raised by Live Aid in 1985 was used in the research and development of orbicular tea technology. In truth we have Bob Geldof to thank as much as Tetleys.

  • @NameNotaNumber - I remember it a little differently - arson, looting and riots on high streets up and down Britain when people realised they could no longer find the corners of their tea bags. "We Want Our Corners!" I remember them shouting as they marauded through the Co-Ops and carried screaming shop assistants away to be burned on large bonfires.

    Still, the tea tasted nice.

  • I SHUD HAVE A SHARE IN TETLEYS THE AMOUNT OF IT I DRINK :D :D love it

  • lol. My mum has the wee fugures of these guys :) Wee ginger dude was my favourite.

  • we called our new puppy Tetley.

hes the right colour for tea too! hes a poodle, but not a teacup poodle, which would of topped it off.

  • lol my gran has a tin that has tetley tea on it

  • tehe!

  • i remember this

  • Have a look on ebay, I think you might find them there!

  • "We've already got a top sellin' disc!, hoo hoo"

  • The guy doing the singing reminds me of Richard Whitely!

  • that guy kinda looks like peter griffin

  • Hi,

I am a big fan of tea relating advertising, i also collect coffee papers.

I really like this video, if you have any more please get in touch.

I am in the midst of editing my tea collection and will eventually be uploading them all onto youtube.

Check out my video, you may like them.

  • me too

  • I remember this omfg!! D:

  • Aahaha I remember these guys too well, my mum had figurines from some promotional thing ages and ages ago. Bring back these guys >3

  • They should bring back the Tetley Tea Folk. The Teteley Teafolk actually got somewhere it reached the 100 greatest TV adverts and it makes them even more money with the teteley merchiandise, it appeals to small children with the animation (The best target audience, thats actually the most logical to aim at not "young people" you start them off young). In over words I miss them.

  • have you tried the new starshaped ones!

  • im luvin it

  • Hi

Does anyone know where i can find the original advert where they sing "Tetley, tetley makes tea bags makes tea..."

    ??

  • sounds like you have never had a date u sad loser

  • BARRYS TEA TILL I DIE

  • What I want to know is what kind of hat are the Tetley guys wearing. Its starts of familiar then seems to transition into a womans hairdo at the back

  • ..a mullet hat....

  • ah thats whats its called. Anyways maximum respect to any character who can carry off a mullet hat, a suit, a lab coat and a pair of slippers as appropriate work attire. Nuff respect.

  • I love Tetley commercials.

  • Come to think of it, why were there square teabags in the first place? Is the round teabag the most OBVIOUS thing ever invented?

  • I think they should have round or triangular boarding passes at airports too - this fascist 90 degree angle idea has gone on for long enough...

  • hehe, i remember this really well, what year was it..........199...?

  • I guess it's from around late 1989 or early 1990. I can remember visiting my aunt and uncle in Scotland, and my cousin was a baby around the time Tetley tea bags became round.

  • I remember this ad from my childhood and as an Elvis fan I thought it was cool. lol!

  • hahahahahahahaha! luv it:D u aint nuffin but a round bag =P

  • yeah nuffin like tetly round bags

  • oh shit its hipnotic

  • what about tetley square bags?
