Not reading into stories but looking at size comparisons in rocky three sly is dwarfed by hulk hogan and from what i gather is sly is pretty short around 5'7 5'8 so hulk hogan has to be in the neighborhood of 6'6 6'7, looking at a match between hulk and Andre, Andre is taller than hulk hogan but by a couple inches. There is a video on YT of Andre being interviewed, where the interviewer mistakenly says 'you weigh 380lbs', but Andre corrects him by saying '480lbs'. That was in 1980 when Andre was still in good shape, so there is no doubt that he was well above 500lbs.

Andre the Giant was a large man. But, was he muscled? Let's take a look at his arms. Hogan's were far larger and more muscled, and Hogan's were, at the most, 22 inches. That puts Andre's arms at 19-20 inches---and it's not like they were muscled, look at him at WM3, they're actually flabby.

Andre was probably 6'10". That's about as close as I can guess from pics I've seen of him standing beside different people who's heights are pretty much fact. There's a pic of Andre beside Wilt Chamberlin somewhere on YT, in the clip you can see he was about 3 inches shorter than "The Stilt", who was every bit his NBA roster listing of 7'1".
He didn't stand on a box in all the interviews. That was done mostly in the early years with McMahon. He wasn't 7'5"(billed height), he was at his peak around 7'1".
Andre was actually about 6'11 or so (maybe an inch or 2 less) but on interviews, he was always standing on boxes or something to make him look taller and appear more larger then life.

They say we build giants just to tear them down, that while we want our heroes we don't want to know that there are men who are greater than us. Andre was a Giant, yet here now we have so-called "smarks", idiots reading cheap internet gossip sites and thinking they know everything about everyting and saying Andre wasn't all that big. Soon I'm sure there will be some schmuck saying he was actually 6'1" and it was all done with trick photography.

All the "old school" managers were good on the mic, but some (Heenan, Albano, Blassie, Heyman/Dangerously, Gary Hart, Wild Red Berry, The Wizard/Abdullah Farouk) were great. Wrestling is definitely missing something without guys like that around anymore. I met a blues musician once named Reverend Billy C. Wirtz who used to work as a wrestling manager, and he said he was most influenced by Heenan and the Wizard.

@FerretJohn : Yes. The pituitary gland malfunction caused him to keep growing up until his death. He got heavier and his head kept getting bigger which added several inches. We'll never know the exact height he was, but rest assured he was over 7 feet tall.

@xismxist No he wasn't 7'5", but at his peak he was about 7'. He did, infact,weigh 550lbs at his peak. In the documentary "Larger than Life", it is mentioned that his weight reached 550lbs. There is a video on YT of Andre being interviewed, where the interviewer mistakenly says 'you weigh 380lbs', but Andre corrects him by saying '480lbs'. That was in 1980 when Andre was still in good shape, so there is no doubt that he was well above 500lbs.

Great story about a great guy, told by one of the great talkers in that business.
All you need to know about Andre's height is that he WAS a giant, but over time his spine curved due to the very condition that made him grow so large.
He was a fan fave everywhere he went for a reason, and nobody will take his place.

I actually went to WMIII when I was 10 years old....of course I was a hogan fan at the time (what 10 year old wasn't). In the hotel, my dad and I waited on the elevator....when it opened there stood Andre the giant inside....I got to ride all the way down to the lobby with him...autograph picture, the whole deal...now I don't know about his true height or anything but he sure looked 7 foot 5

André tried to avoid them, but eventually he chased the hecklers until they locked themselves in their car. André then grabbed the car and turned the car over with them trapped inside. So if Show could do that, I'm sure Andre could do what the claims are. Heck, I've seen Ken Patera lift up a car with weights in the trunk back in the AWA before. It's not like Andre gorilla-pressed the thing. All it takes is for him to rock the car, build up momentum, and then tip it over. It's a lot easier that way. That's how Show tipped over the jeep.

The larger than normal tires give it an additional 100-150lbs, so either way, that vehicle isn't anywhere near 4400lbs. Also, yeah, they couldn't have lightened it or anything, right? If you believe that, then you probably believe that Dino Bravo actually had 700+lbs on the bar when he "benched" it with the help of Ventura back at RR88'....

That's simple 4th grade science dude. There are only certain ways you can move certain objects. I could be capable of bench pressing 800 pounds, that doesn't mean I can move an 800-pound bar-bell with my pinky toe. If Andre got the vehicle rocking he could easily tip it over. Especially if it was top heavy.

But let's say for the sake of argument it was 3,330 pounds like YOU say. That's still 1,000 pounds heavier than the average weight of a normal car which Andre tipped over.

@FerretJohn Actually, there aren't. One has to be trained professionally AND have supreme genetics, mixed with years of hard/smart work AND $50k/year in drugs to lift the weights that they do.
Andre the Giant was a large man. But, was he muscled? Let's take a look at his arms. Hogan's were far larger and more muscled, and Hogan's were, at the most, 22 inches. That puts Andre's arms at 19-20 inches---and it's not like they were muscled, look at him at WM3, they're actually flabby.

He was large, yes, but there's not any muscle there, take a look at his chest, delts, his back, they're not heavily muscled, it's all part of a massive bone structure resulting from Acromegaly. Was he a strong guy? Duh, I'm not saying he'd have a hard time benchpressing 225lbs or anything like that.

@FerretJohn What I am saying, is that he wasn't specifically trained in the lifting like the aforementioned gentlemen are. He didn't take the drugs that they did. And, especially for deadlifting, he's at a severe disadvantage, those guys are all between 5'11 and 6'2, and Bolton and Kennally are STILL pushing 400lbs. In his prime, he was about 375-380lbs---at 6'10, his leverage would've sucked by comparison. Finally, the power needed to lift that car w/4ppl is akin to DLing 1400lbs..no.way.

You are very wrong. I met and shook Andre's hand in 86 and again in 90. He was easily 7 foot in 86 for sure by 90 he might have been 6'10 at the least but was obviously shorter after his back surgery.

Andre was probably 6'10". That's about as close as I can guess from pics I've seen of him standing beside different people who's heights are pretty much fact. There's a pic of Andre beside Wilt Chamberlin somewhere on YT, in the clip you can see he was about 3 inches shorter than "The Stilt", who was every bit his NBA roster listing of 7'1".

He didn't stand on a box in all the interviews. That was done mostly in the early years with McMahon. He wasn't 7'5"(billed height), he was at his peak around 7'1".
