They DO have ground collision. I don't know if you saw the video where will said that he wants ALL creatures to be playable, no matter how ridiculous. If the thing just fell over like a ragdoll on its side and flopped around, it wouldn't be very playable. Even though it's unrealistic, thats how it had to be.

It's 'cause of the limited space for comments.

The wheels under the creature don't turn. This is because those wheels are Weapon parts. They are used as a weapon normally and don't actually touch the ground.

They don't touch the ground 'cause the game doesn't see the parts under the creature as legs, so the game makes the creature Hover in air instead. If those parts weren't there, but say somewhere else on the creature (like the head) then the creature would crawl along the ground like a slug

It's cause they're not actually "touching" the ground. They're actually weapon parts. The CC will attempt to figure out the best way to move a creature if you don't put any legs (feet) on. In this respect, you can get creatures to hover by placing some parts under the creature. If those parts were on the side of the creature there is a good chance it would move like a slug or snake. It's interesting to note the possibilities this opens up for "mock-flight" creatures until the expansion is done.
