Mao Tse-Tung, it's thought, killed nearly 60 million, for the same reasons, during China's "Great Leap Forward".

Hitler killed--or rather, caused the deaths of--around 60 million, give or take, most being combat deaths or collateral damage in bombing attacks.

I always wondered what "dogs of war" means. Turns out that a "dog" is a clamping mechanism used in heavy machinery, shipping, etc. To "release the dogs" means to unlock the hooks and drop the load. The "dogs of war" hold war back; if you "release the dogs" the entire heavy load (i.e. war) is released. Interesting.
