Aethetics, the French make better cars than the Germans but VW Scricco 2.0 has a sweeter engine. I still prefer the Renault Megane Hatch 5-Door 1.6. It's unique and very practical for every class. It was of great reluctance that I switched to the new VW Passat CC recently. Both cars are aesthetically pleasing and fun to drive. Kudos to both Renault and VW - some of the best cars around for a long time.

we had an renault megane in 5 years, that we bught used, and it was 5 years whit out any problems at all, and then shit happend, but it was relly old. any way, last year we bught this audi A4 Avant 1.9TDI, crap car, its more fallts on this now under a year then the renault had total in 5 years. arghh, I miss quality, I miss renault

I drove a 1.9dci. Only 7.2l/km fuel consumption, altough it was the test car and was pushed to the limit all day. I own a '98 Megane coupe and love it, but the 1.6e engine stand closer to my heart than the diesel. Gonna buy one...

It's nothing new really. The laguna coupé looks like a Peugeot front with an Aston Martin back end and the megane... C'mon.... Peugeot and Opel/Vauxhall are already using those designs for years and more specifically the megane coupé in the video is a shameless plagiarism of the astra coupé that has been launched YEARS ago.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're great cars but the design? No way!

Your comment is, of course, your opinion and liking or disliking megane's design more than opel's is a question of taste (and, differently of what people might say, taste is also arguable as I've learned in design classes, but that's another story).

The thing is I never said megane was prettier or uglier than opel, I just said I don't understand all the excitement about the design when other brands are using the same concepts and designs for years.

Its proportions, its agressive look, the balance between its global pure shape and details....

Anyway, all I said was that everybody was hyping the coupé's design as being new, which is not. Its main lines are not original at all... but that doesn't make it an ugly car. BTW (speaking about proprotion), I've been next to some megane coupés recently and they're a bit taller than they should be for their body shape.
