  • Beautiful version. Thanks for uploading!

  • @annie482000 Thanks for sharing this.

It is a good version :)

  • @EXIT91 I'm more familiar with Joni Mitchell's original and Judy Collins' hit. Have to agree with you, Indy, this version is good.

  • beautiful voice!

  • OMG SHE IS SOOOOO good and has the same first name as me lol

  • An outstanding rendition of the original Joni Mitchell version. I am not sure which I think is better, so I play them both all the time!

  • a beautiful version of this classic song sung and I mean sung by a very beautiful angel...brings a lump to me everytime I hear her singing....very rare these days...

  • Hayley was a very pretty girl when she recorded this but now she is a stuning woman with a voice to match!

  • Hayley seems glad that she doesn't know what love is. To me it makes the song more interesting. She doesn't want to know what love really is. Maybe she is saying love is nothing but fantasy anyway.

  • amazing, i love this so much

  • Who's Joni Mitchell?

  • @oswipee An amazing woman and artist! Sang some of the most amazing songs!

  • @oswipee try google!

  • Wish this music video was on the U.S. iTunes, but it's only on the U.K. :(

Amazing song though, and an amazing woman. Keep it up Hayley!

  • i completely agree ..i listened to this song seven times in a row already.....theres a little girl her name is ANNA PERRY ,she dances ballet to this song and its soooo uplifting ...watch it on you tube

  • Voice of an angel. This the best rendition since Joni Mitchell

  • Lovely, lovely rendition of the song sung with such a great voice conveying warmth that keeps you wanting more.

  • She is very lovely. We don't seem too have singers here in the States with this mutch class. Shev is truley a world treasure. V.

  • I really need to stop hitting replay. It's just so lovely.

  • I absolutely love her. Her higher raange is absolutely amazing. I've never heard one that high before!! Love you Hayley!

  • @supersmiles45 Yeah, it's nice to hear this song in Hayley's voice. =) She's a wonderful talent. <3 <3

  • Great voice!

  • what a lovely video hayley! Gianluca Paganelli would be a fantastic singer to do a duet with. He's the most gorgeous man!!

  • from judas GAGA to angel Hayley. best of both worlds.

  • Watching Hayley with Gaga staring at me seems almost sacrilegious...

  • beautiful and voice of a angel

  • Love this!!! :)

  • @wilkobangs that dude holding the umbrella/door? that would be me. " ahhhh,so,your, ahhh, just going to go huh?can I like call you or somthing?,walk you home?,mow your lawn?, carry your piano?..."

  • I really dont like this remake, I love the one my Jonie Mitchell ten times better, just because she makes this one seem all happy go lucky, where as the original sounded deeper, more meaningful.

  • Hi,

I'm a big Hayley Westenra. I love her "Pie Jesus" interpretation. Thanks for uploading of this video.

    Grig

  • прекрасный голос, прекрасное светлое лицо, слушаешь и расслабляешься,

парочка минут счастья для грустной славянской души. Спасибо.

  • Beautiful! This gal gives Judy Collins a run for her money!

  • Too saccharine sweet for me. I love Joni...

  • I like the original better - although Hayley has a better voice, (amazing and eerily perfect) I don't like the way she changed the song, slightly, with the timing

  • this is much better than lady gaga

  • simply beautiful.....

  • This sweet, young girl can really, really sing. It's a diff rendition to Joni Mitchell's, but still has melancholy to it. Love this version of a difficult song to sing. So many have tried and the only palatable version (other than this one) is Joni's Mitchell's.

  • A lot of people criticize the fact that this version is more upbeat than the original and therefore less realistic. I think Joni Mitchell's version was supposed to be sad because she was older. It seemed like she didn't have very much to look forward to. As for Hayley, she is young and has the rest of her life in front of her, therefore she is rightfully optimistic.

  • @marine5546 Joni mitchell wrote this in 1967, when she was 24. Hayley Westenra sang it when she was 22. Not 'much older' as you state. Joni re-wrote and performed this circa 2000, much more upbeat. I agree, though, it's far more upbeat than melancholy, which I, too, prefer.

  • @irishthruandthru I was unaware of that. I only saw Joni's performance when she was much older. I think Joni's voice has always sounded quite mature.

  • Hayley was 17 when this was recorded. (Recorded at the start of 2005)

  • @marine5546

The song is all about nostalgia and melancholy reminiscing, the song, not Joni's version.

Hayley has managed to extract everything that made this a great song and replace it with pop banality. Bland, deeply bland and pointless.

  • Great cover of a great song.

  • Hmmmm. Everything is perfect, but somehow, I don't believe the sadness in the song. Maybe Hayley's voice is too pure, too angelic, too unbroken. Sadness oozes from the ruptures in ones life, its not pure like crystal.

  • ten dislikes, they prefer bollywood music

  • Delightful :)

  • is anyone else really creeped out by Gaga's scary face peering out from the left of the video? xD

  • Hayley always makes me smile she reminds me of what it is to be PURE I wish our country [New Zealand] was still the same, the thing is it's not too late to save it.....

  • Her voice is just as beautiful as she is.

  • this is a much better version of clouds its slow and dreamy just as the clouds pass by other versions are too staccato they dont portray the lazy feling of clouds as this version does

  • Wow didn't know she could sing a Joni Mitchell Song even though this song 42 years ago.

    Real voice of an angel

  • this pretty much sounds like the judy collins version. i recommend people check that version before giving praise to this. Much more emotional and original

  • @Vajilante Eh her version is more like a pop song...I prefer the slow melodic feel of this one.

  • You can sing young lady. Your voice is beautiful and make the music come alive and strong. Thank you.

  • this is a beautiful song but what does it mean at first i thought it was about clouds, then love, and then life what is the point made in this video....can it be all the 3 i thought? i am not "hating" i love this song but what is it about?

  • @titanicfan10023 It is looking at clouds, love and life, from different ways...from a young person's perspective (rows and flows of angel hair, the dizzy dancing way you feel, feeling proud to say I love you right out loud)...and an older person's perspective (But now they only block the sun, but now it's just another show, but now old friends are acting strange) Hope that helps.

  • @JordanKerk99 ohhh ok i get it now haha thanks! :)

  • @titanicfan10023 To me it is about growing up.

  • @leoseries57 ohh thats truuee too lol

  • @codyjunierengineer JUDGE NOT !!!!! HAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO CRITICIZE ?!?!?!?!?! NOR HAVE YOU THE MIND OF HER TO KNOW THAT SHE DOES NOT FEEL IT ?!?!?!?

  • @choloangelo I wasn't judging, I was giving my opinion, and yes I do have the right to criticize as does everyone. Whether she feels it or not doesn't matter, what matters is that I don't feel through her what I feel through Joni.

  • @codyjunierengineer CRITICIZE, yes .......... BUT NEVER IN PUBLIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and just so you know ,not all "true artists" understand the meaning of the song or whatever they do ..................................... because their purpose is to give meaning to the song by their passion .......... This woman is something to me , Something that was planted in my heart that never wither and she's the reason that I still live ......... that's why I was so angry ...... I'm truly sorry

  • @codyjunierengineer Hayley;s interpretation may have an impact depending on the viewer (age, gender, life experience, nationality) these are the aspects of cross-cultural communication that says people interpret things depending on their culture. I believe this appeals to young audiences and some "young at heart" because the the style is not as classic as Joni's. Music evolves due to culture and personally, this version shall not be compared to a classic . They are both great actually. :-D

  • What a great song. Haven't heard of Joni Mitchell rendition yet but I am utterly in love with the soothing voice of Ms Hayley. It calms the spirit and soul..... Another great song .....

  • Beautiful! I'm singing this too!

  • Beautiful. Pure and delivered perfectly

  • I can;t get over this version. Before I went to work out of the country till now that I am back for good, I still listen and sing this song with my own white umbrella (no print) imagining both sides now. :-D

  • i love you angel!!

  • cara sky, tieniti pure i tuoi canali di merda, ma almeno potivi lasciarci il 711? siete delle caccole.

  • very well played...like the low-key approach. She gets the song and doesn't try to shatter glass to prove a point.

  • Just an ok voice, no Joni

  • this girl has a beautiful voice, i hope she never stops singing for the Lord!

  • why does this have only 80,000 hits? it SHOULD be millions!

  • @piddlefish maybe because there aren't that many homosexuals and single women...

  • @piddlefish Because she is little known in the United States; in New Zealand she is much better known, but I think they don't watch this specific video there. Share it with friends, twitter, and Facebook. People will spread it.

  • Hm, I´m sorry but I don´t agree with anyone here. I think she totally destroys this amazing song. I don´t see the feeling.

  • Is a voice of an angel !!!

  • Gosh I love her!

  • I absolutely love this video. Its amazing!! XD

  • this is amazing, i just wish she would sing more cover versions, of pop hits, and change the feel, as she did here. I never tire of listening to this song, or her version of it.

  • its a good rendition ,but Judy Collins owns this song.

  • @wilkobangs Hey, back in Line...Behind ME!!! lol

  • heavenly voice.

  • How can she understand life at her tender age.

    Great singer though :)

  • @GlentoranMark stupid comment

  • I wonder if she has any Geordie in her. I wonder if she would like some Geordie in her?

  • voice like an angel... mmmm... :) love her voice and her version of this song! :D

  • omg she has the voice of an angel :)

  • She's the loveliest girl ever and her voice oooh lala

  • quite possibly one of the most wonderful songs ever written - stunning lyrics. What a gift Joni's song is. Not a bad cover either Hayley

  • So clean and she is so pretty. God love the Irish:-) Love all her music.

  • @Calvuslamp umm She is from Christchurch, New Zealand ;) But I am sure she has a bit o' Irish in her as we all do :D

  • I don't like this specific song, all of her other work is way better.

  • Okay soooo Josh Groban and Hayley Westenra should def. do duet. Because they are both so epic it'd be amazing!

  • Beautiful voice and beautiful girl!

The best version of "Both Sides Now.

  • shity Adverts.

  • why did she let that gorgeous guy gooooooooo????

:((((((((((((((.. i expected a love story at the end of the clip....

any way, a great song for the break i needed to take... busy minded as i am with my country's issues.. viva Egypt <3

  • Thank God, she isn't Joni Mitchell, because now we can have both!

  • Hayley's a lot of things ... beautiful, talented, angelic even ... but she ain't Joni Mitchell.

    Not a half-bad effort, nonetheless.

  • Beautiful song. She does it justice.

  • 'she wants me bigtime !'

  • Maybe that guy was supposed to be attractive.....I found him extremely creepy. :P

  • She should come back to celtic woman............

  • 0:00

  • Isn't she one of the Celtic singers? Beautiful!

  • Lovely

  • Her voice is so lovely. Everything I see her in all she does is smile, hard for me to think she has an unhappy moment. Lol. She's really wonderful.

  • i love Hayley's voice, she is one of my fave singers

she seems so natural compared to alot of singers

  • Hayley Westenra, good in any flavor !

  • I havent heard any other versions but this is so beautiful!! How can you not love her??

she has such an amazing voice!!!

  • she can sing so good and she is so beautiful =]

  • Even though I adore Hayley Westenra's voice, I still think that this song seems to be more suitable for a more mature sounding voice. Still, this is nearly the best version out there, second only to Joni Mitchell's!

  • Amazing!!!!! Hayley is incredible!!

  • She is so pretty.

  • I like the version of lara fabian better, but that's just me

  • i can't help myself, i'm in love with this girl. she's cute and has a great voice.

  • Next to Joni the best version I have ever heard. She is amazing!

  • No one can beat Joni Mitchell's version..it was her song after all, and only she could have interpreted it correctly, but compared to the old school Judy Collins version, I think this is definitely a wonderful revamp!

I do like the lyrical nature of this compared to Mitchel's free-verse, and covering a song like this to bring it back...nothing wrong with that at all.

These words are timeless, and the cycle can bring it to fresh ears.

  • She sings this beautifully, but it's not as moving as it is when Joni sings it.

  • stupid vevo

  • She's got a lovely voice, but it's simply not suited to such a deep piece as this.

  • SFNKANFKLA;DSKLFNAKLSNDFL;K

  • Love to Judy Collins, and Joni Mitchell.....the creators of this all

  • In my opinion, Haley would sound good singing the phone book.

    But what do I know.

    I'm just a Haley fan!!!

  • @NinetteNickerson what you call over ENUNCIATION is just proper singing.

  • @Schlueter1987 The word here is OVER and not enunciation...and it is quite irritating. It makes the song very choppy. For this song...the song is the focus and good botox won't compensate for poor interpretation. ;)

  • @NinetteNickerson I don't want to belabor this point...but I realize she is a formally educated singer trying to transition into mainstream. She really needs to loosen up. It is as if she is watching every word and trying to perfectly enunciate every word. It makes the performance very stiff and unnatural. I think she certainly has the talent to do something, but if she keeps doing what she is doing...she may only do what she has done.

  • Why does she have a light bulb in the top of her umbrella?

  • Would love to see Haley acting/singing in a costume drama, such as something by Austen, or the Tudors if they ever do a series beyond Henry 8th.

  • Figured I would hate this because it wasn't Joni, but it's not bad. She has a similar purity to her voice. Would love to hear her take on The Circle Game or California.

  • I love this song and the lyrics. :)

  • love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She's lovely. Well done New Zealand, got yourselves a gorgous, beautiful gem there. Beautiful to listen to, her voice sends you to another world.

  • Yeah I agree. I love Joni Mitchell but Hayley really does justice to the song :).

  • As I am a huge fan of Joni Mitchell's version of this classic, I must admit I am an even BIGGER fan of Miss Westenra's version! Way to go!

  • @dalanor69 Joni Mitchell's "version?" She WROTE the song! However, I like Hayley's cover better than the original, as well.

  • @dalanor69 I have always been a fan of Judy Collins version but like you Hayley's version eclipses that one.

  • @enfieldchace Absolutely agree with you! Judy Collins and Joni Mitchell are captivating singing this song...but Hayley just steals the show with her rendition! Cheers!

  • the voice of a angel...and not bad to look @

  • @MrBravo222 Darn straight she's good to look at!

  • I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I like this version better than the one at the Olympics opening ceremony!

  • mroe people should listen to this song its so beautiful

  • Daughter, daughter, don't you know You're not the first to feel just so But let me say before I go It's worth it anyway. Someday we may all be surprised We'll wake and open up our eyes And then we all will realize The whole world feels this way. We've all been living up side down and turned around with love unfound Until we turn and face the sun Yes, all of us, everyone. (extra verse written by Pete Seeger for Joni Mitchell concert)
  • Nice....

  • Beautiful!
