@BaronM Well, they could have possibly been stolen sure. That's a very likely possibility. However, I read they were found in the trash can outside the studios. If you Google "Salome outtakes" this is what the way the story is told. Who knows.
It was ahmm... "taken"... from the studio in Germany, while U2 was recording the Achtung Baby album. Maybe it was a crime... but for the fans... it's God send hehe
Very cool!

What on earth happened to the drums in the final version? This is a great instrumental

the achtung baby demos really give the feeling of a "bridge" between Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum to Achtung Baby.

@DaveXanderBass Yeah it's like the musical style is the same as Achtung baby, but the sound of the instruments are still the same as Joshua Tree

I read that EBTTRT was being worked on during the Rattle & Hum days (1989). The band were working on some song ideas and this was one of them.

It was a song called "The Real Thing" that wasn't used. It got reinvented a couple years later...

The tapes from the Berlin Aghtung sessions were actually found in a trash can right outside Hansa Studios. Reels of tape!...

@anacrobat89
Sure it was found in a trashcan. Just like when I was a kid and 'found' those quarters in my dad's pocket.

it's more blues than the final version, and really it's a song inspired by the rolling stones.
