In fact, I believe if you were romantically linked to Liara in ME1, you can continue the romance in ME2, or you can cheat on her with Subject Zero, or Miranda. At least this is what I read on the Mass Effect Wiki.

I think this is going to be one of, if not, the best RPG game of all time. And for the people who think it will suck BECAUSE of EA's involvement, I think that it will NOT suck because as good and successful as ME1 was, I HIGHLY doubt Bioware will leave the game in the hands of another company to risk messing up the Franchise. Don't think they will all be playable for example I don't think Tali will be playable (even if she among my favorite team member in ME1). Just a guess but I am pretty sure if you completed her pilgrimage quest you will get a lot of help from her, for pretty sure we will have contact with the Migrant fleet in this one and maybe we will have to convince her father to take a veto on a decision, which without a lever would be impossible since he lose his spot on admiralty board if he does so.

I liked Ashley for an unorthadox female - when she first appeared, I thought she was going to be standard eye candy, but her underlying racism and insecurity quickly made her unlikeable for me. I enjoyed that, it felt subtle and made me re-evaluate what I thought. This one is just... an anvil.

I think though that it is unique to Zero's character. I don't think Bioware is going to have every character swearing like sailors. They're trying to create a tough, abused, experienced character, who isn't going to hide in the corner and cry about her history. having her say Fuck all the time is for the effect.
