  • I don't know why they bother with all these bonzo tributes. No one can play like him.

  • @drummerbadass1 you fucking suck dick at drums. The only instrument you can play with any promise is a skin flute

  • They should have gotten me to make this sound pro. Here danny Carry sounds like a mediocre drummer. he can't solo or improv apparently. I can.

  • @drummerbadass1 Post it bitch

  • @drummerbadass1 You can't do shit execpt lie like a cunt. You can beat up Nick Diaz and drum better than professionals? What's your band? How many professional fights have you won? Why don't you tighten your slippery grip on reality and start from the beginning by admitting in your current state you are a fag?

  • @gcizzle77 They should have gotten me for this Bonham tribute.

  • John Bonham had WAY too much RAW groove. Like it or not, when you try to be too technical and perfect and as you call it "mathematically balanced and perfectly progressive" that is not always the best for Drummers. All the music studying in the WORLD will NEVER give you something you need to be born with. Danny Carry Would never sound good with Led Zepplin and Probably Vice Versa. 2 FANTASTIC drummers. A computer could make "perfect" drumming but, YUCK !

  • drummerdumbass1

  • Overplaying much?? In improv he's quite unimpressive..

  • Danny's power and precision is second to none

  • Sloppy... hahaha... yeah, ok.

  • Danny Carey is a drummer's drummer. He is highly respected by other, very talented, drummers and musicians. I think that says a lot about his ability.

  • I used to be impressed by danny's playing, and i guess i still should be.. BUT, i hate how everything he does sounds like he's solving a math problem, it kill's the freedom of the groove. i'd rather watch chad smith play to zep, he just grooves to have a good time, accompanies the band, and he still keeps it technical... I think the most impressive styles of drumming come out of that.

  • @Siyates747 There comes a point if you play the drum kit long enough that you will play with each of your limbs working independantly. It sounds very technical, but its just natural.

  • what leppelin song is this

  • @space78511 It's no quarter, but this is a very different version to the original

  • @getsomemates69 this is actually almost exactly the same as the original .

  • gotta love this version of "No Quarter"! <3

  • im sorry, but after reading all of this BULLSHIT about whos better?I would say Danny Carey kicks anybodys skills on the drums, alive or dead! no question, but realize the issue! TOOL's songs wouldnt be Tool without him! nor would Led Zep without John Bonham!2 different eras,

  • but to say Bonham is better ?lol I hope the nay sayers dont play drums!,if you do? i wouldnt be calling myself a drummer! you obviously have never listened to TOOL....that is just my opinion.....doesnt matter!!! ,if you asked Dan Carey who is better? he'd say John Bonham, considering he mentions Ringo Starr as his 1st influence? looks like the Beatles win again!!! sorry about your luck lol

  • @lennonschram the last 2 msg's ,read 2nd msg 1st,as they are both one msg!

  • @lennonschram Well, that's just like your opinion, man. But in all seriousness, your opinions don't matter. None of ours do because everything is subjective make our opinions irrelevant.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green

Feelings are subjective. Technique and aspects of music theory, however, can be judged objectively.

  • @DoctorBlissphd I was talking about his feelings toward the whole "who's better" debate. Pay attention before you decide to say something just to say it in an attempt to "school" me.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green Maybe the good Doctor is just trying to get the comments back on track, instead of reeling into the nihilistic responses that have started to appear.... Dang they are both good, Bonham and Carey. I love how this all turned into a big fight over whose better when its clearly a remembrance moment in history. Great job Youtube Public! Win all around!

  • Children, children Stop bitching and insulting each other for stupid reasons.

NO Carey is nowhere near Bonham's style and playing, As Bonham would play Carey's stuff totally different. This doesn't mean that either of them are crap, cause their not. No one can play Bonham's stuff like him, and that's a fact! As no one can play Carey's stuff like he does, and that's a fact. Everyone has their own style and can play their own music better than anyone else.

    it's a TRIBUTE so respect.

  • @MrFN2 Your can't be a drummer .As far as comparing Bonzo to Carey .Lets just say that both played ,play with alot of power .Drummers call that very heavy . Technically. Carey hands and knowledge of intricate time signatures, world rhythms & Northern Indian Classical Music are far above what Bonzo's where . That's where alot of his beats & pulses come from .Tabla music. Cary has the best of both worlds. Just a beast of a RocknRoll Drummer. But far from a Vinnie or a Weckl

  • whokeithmoon

John Bonham is one of my greatest influences and so is Danny Carey. Bonzo would not have been able to play what Danny carey can play, just like no one can play Bonham like him.Your comments prove that you are a narrow-minded fool. Do yourself a favour, borrow a copy of a tool album from one of your grandkids and in the privacy of your domicile, put on your blouse and have a listen to what you could never hope to aspire to...Why? because you have a cock on your forehead. :)

  • WELL YOU NEED TO WAKE UP. HE IS AVERAGE AT BEST..NO BONZO AT ALL HERE. NONE. NO GROVE AT ALL. JUST ALL OVER THE PLACE.I WAS DOING THIS WHEN I WAS 12..OPEN YOUR MIND AND LOOK INTO THE PAST SONNY. YOU WILL LEARN..

  • @whokeithmoon You sound like some 80 year old conservative who just discovered YouTube and the caps lock button

  • @whokeithmoon You sound like some 80 year old conservative who just discovered YouTube and the caps lock button

  • @boecke91 YOU SOUND LIKE SOME 12 YR OLD DOUCHE BAG THAT LIKES OLD MEN...LMAO..

  • LAME AT BEST. NOT EVEN CLOSE. NEVER GOT INTO A GROVE LIKE BONZO COULD.MIGHT BE ABLE TO FOOL THE KIDDIES ON HERE, BUT I KNOW BETTER..LOOK AT HIM STRUGGLIN..BONZO MAKE IT EFFERORSLEY, AND EASY..JUST ANOTHER HACKER

  • Why people feel the need to argue over who is the better drummer i dont know, the styles are very different but The Song Remains The Same!

    RIP JB

  • @ArcaneMagei I think people fail to realize JB was playing like this in the 60's. All these great drummers, like DC, came along years after JB's passing.

  • this isnt Johns drumset. its the re-issue.

    Carey is awesome

  • I saw Zepplen over the years from when they were playing the aqua follies theater is Seattle back in the late 60's till just before the hard news fell. Bonham will never be replaced. Tool is the blood that flows in the hearts of the true ones these days. But ya gotta admit... Dazed and confuzed. WTF? There's a vibe that will never be duplicated. Tell me I'm wrong.

  • Danny is God!!

  • Not dissing Jason at all, but Danny would do one hell of a job playing with Zeppelin.

  • @LettheHammerFall1982 who the hell is jason

  • @bojanks15 Jason Bonham.

  • Its amazing to watch my current favourite drummer pay tribute to my childhood favourite drummer. love em both! this is a great upload!! thanks a lot! i wish there was more to it. although bonham's drumming has become easy to cover (though not his epic vicious style of playing) but there is something about bonham... no matter how awesome and tehnical ure at drumming u never get bored covering stuff which he played..

  • Octapus @ work! :)))

  • I caught one of Danny's sticks after I saw Tool on the 1997 Lollapolooza tour. I still have it. What an awesome show that was! This was back when he had a signature stick with Trueline. He now has a signature stick with Vic Firth. This sounds like "No Quarter." Tool covered it and put it on their live album/box set, "Salival."

  • my favourite metal drummer paying tribute to my favourite rock drummer... <3 there cant be a more pleasant sight

  • Easy on Bonzo's Paiste's Danny! ... John would def approve ... minus the canyons you left in his cymbals ... ;)

  • Ask any famous drummer, ANY of them who inspires them, i GURENTEE YOU the answer will be JOHN BONHAM, THE GODFATHER OF DRUMS! R.I.P BONZO, YOU WERE AN INSPERATION TO ME, AND MANY OTHERS

  • @smoshlover97 He was and is a great inspiration to many drummers, but i think Ginger Baker came first, but he was not so "big", he is just underated, I think John looked up to him too. Check Cream-Toad VS Led Z. - Moby Dick... See what I mean??

  • The people getting mad at Danny for 'using a double pedal' don't understand the concept of a double stroke.

  • @drhbettathanu didn't Bonzo have some double jointed twitch thing going on in his ankle that allowed him to "double stroke" without a second pedal? .. e.g. Good Times Bad Times

  • @intensivex I'm not sure about double jointed twitch thing, but there are a number of techniques for achieving a double on the kick. The two most popular are the "slide" and "heel/toe" if you wanna look 'em up. Chris Adler from LoG created his own little variation in order to have a "stable" technique that wouldn't fail when the adrenaline's flowing while on stage. ^^

  • folks, you just saw God.

  • Dude you are truly a homo for the double bass pedal on that kit.

    John would be disappointing

  • @ludwig12344321 that's not double pedal.... Its the fast doubles that Bonham made famous.

  • @ludwig12344321 i think you mean dissappointed

  • If Buddy Rich was alive along with John Bonham, could you imagine the drum battle between these three?

  • Peart is not as free as Carey. Peart is great for what he plays but honestly it seems like he has a stick up his ass. He's very rigid sounding. Less organic than Carey. In my opinion.

  • @loveisthelaw20042004 i love danny, but c'mon, hes not in a differant league than peart. i agree neil seems arrogant, but i think his playing is fantastic. it has a differant feel. admittedley he hasnt done anything new in a long while. check out bobby jarzombek, now HES in a differant league!!!

  • *polyrythyms

  • D. Carey>N. Peart

  • @dogmasevil

I think they are hard to compare. Danny is certainly more experimantal, his timing is very unique and he uses some unique equipment. I personally like DC more. Cheers.

  • dont know why? but And i am a huge dc fan but just not feeling this one .

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • is that dirty women by black sabbath??

  • @MinGophers It's Led Zeppelin's No Quarter.

  • The octopus has spoken...SHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • respect. thats what it is all about. respect. not to see whos better. respect.

  • TooL is a fantastic live act . One of the best I have ever seen and I have seen many . Four guys who are all as gifted as ANY band playing today .whether you like their music or not , those guys can play .

  • one of the greatest ever definitely the most influential in my eyes !

  • @dunxalot the most influential??!?! look who he is paying tribute to, that guy is the most influential

  • @gowhitesox12 you are right JB did things that paved the way for drummers like danny, but he didnt create drumming and an artists interpretation, JB would of been influenced by by great drummers of the past too, Danny is the bohnam of our generation, no disrespect to john bohnam's talent or influence.

  • @dunxalot - I concur, Danny is the Bonham of our generation and Tool is the Led Zep of our Generation. Definitely 10-20 years down the lane kids then would be listening to something new but referring to a band like Tool like the Handbook of Rock jus like how we and many would refer Led Zep as for now. Ur Comment jus made my day man :))) Good to know that i now know one among many who thinks like me. Double Thumbs Up! :)))

  • the sound is so bad... too bad....

  • This isn't Danny's new kit, it's the John Bonham Ludwig Vistalite kit, all the drummers at the show played on it. And yes, I do own one ; )

  • This is one of those times I wish I lived in America.

  • which song is this. i can't tell cuz of all the jamming. its great though.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 nevermind it's no quarter

  • who ever you are who took these videos, i love you

  • Is it weird that I just want to hug him.......and make love to him?

  • @TheFunnyMan9113 not at all, I'd be right there with ya...it would be a 3-way, you, me and danny...hahaha

  • what i wouldnt give...

  • @2001lateralus to be there??? i was.... 10 feet from him. jealous much? not to mention all the other greats that performed that night

  • i like the new kit its awesome!!

  • awesome stuff, thanks man. is there any other footage anywhere?

  • Thank you for sharing this.

  • The man, the myth, the legend!!

Greatest drummer alive paying tribute. It's a beautiful thing!

  • @SiRJDM danny carey, greatest drummer alive, i think not.

  • @gowhitesox12 Danny's The Man Bro. THE GREATEST DRUMMER ALIVE.

  • @gowhitesox12 I think so mate, no1 alive comes close

  • @gowhitesox12 But you know who is though , right ? Opinions are like assholes...

  • Comment removed

  • @SiRJDM , Danny Carey is an excellent drummer, but is definitely not the best drummer alive... He is one of the best, Old man Peart is still tighter drummer. You can actually hear Peart's rhythms. Just listen to the ending of "the Grudge", one of the best endings in rock history, but sloppy as hell. And compare that to Rush's 2112 the last song "VII. Grande Finale", again one of the best endings in rock history, so much tighter in execution than DC's rhythms.

  • @021467 I like peart, but uh. The end of the grudge is sloppy? Nikkah please.

  • @Zildjian232 Listen to it!!! He could be much tighter on his rhythms...

  • @021467 Please elaborate.

  • @Zildjian232 dude....you name your youtube account after Zildjian and you make a statement like that? shame on you! Danny Carey has the tightest rhythms of any drummer that ever lived. with having said that, i do know what you mean but it's not a matter of his rhythms not being tight it's a matter of him making the rhythms dynamic and "imperfect" which i think makes it that much more accessible to the listener. not to mention in Danny's case nearly every rhythm is a polyrythm.

  • @Zildjian232 In fact, the live version of his ending is cleaner than the studio version! Listen to the youtube video titled-"Danny Carey - Grudge ending" put up by MsTimPaul. Don't be stretching this that I don't like Mr. Carey, in fact he has raised the bar, as far as bad-ass drumming technique goes, regardless of any ending.

  • @021467 I listened to it. As far as hitting those punches with the guitar, subdivisions, etc. It's sound fine to me. I can see what you mean maybe about "sloppy". That section to me always seemed like a drum solo kind of section, more so than a support the rest of the instruments kind of section. He picked what punches he wanted to hit, and played fills where he wanted.

  • @Zildjian232 Part of his Jazz technique no doubt.

  • @killerproctologist tighest rhythms ever? Yeah you don't know Billy Cobham or Bill Bruford do you?

  • @loveisthelaw20042004 I do. If it sounds "sloppy" to you you're not hearing it right and this is something a lot of people do I think. He tries NOT to play what the band is playing as much as possible but despite this he effortlessly makes drum grooves in varying time signatures that are mathematically balanced and perfectly progressive. To fully appreciate Danny you almost have to study his music...then see Tool live because his improvs give me a hard on everytime.

  • @killerproctologist I concur. Danny Carey is a MASTER at creative and off signature beats.

Seeing Tool in concert is an amazing, powerful experience. I've never seen anything quite like it. Not so much as a show as it is watching 4 EXTREMELY talented and nearly "perfect" musicians put their expertise to work.

  • @021467 THE END OF THE GRUDGE ISN'T SLOPPY, he played polyrythyms man. Don' t diss on what you can't comprehend. Danny should not be compared to Neil. Danny is a much better musician then Neil. Neil may have more skill in composing drum solo's, but Danny is better at making music, and he is probably better at drums period. Danny Carey is one of the best musicians in this world, the only other musician i think of that can compare to him is Gavin Harrison (from Porcupine Tree). THOSE MEN ARE GOD

  • @021467 I agree, but I think it was intended to sloppy, judging in context of the guitar. It sounds like the point of the ending of that song was to sort of blow it up. I also think that is a bad example. Listen to the polyrythems in the slower part of triad. Listen to the great use of rudiments in ticks and leeches, hell listen to everything in ticks in leeches. Listen to the main groove in schism. I do however agree that neil peart is better at staying completely in pocket, in all rush songs

  • @poopdroop69 but what's the use of staying in the pocket? that's just boring as hell. don't get me wrong, i love neil but he and danny are just in different leagues. what's amazing about carey is he fucks with the beats and syncopations etc. but knows what he's doing so well it's still never sloppy.

  • @SiRJDM best alive? i think your high..

  • @SiRJDM sorry , Danny's not the best but he is awesome!!!! And John would slap his face for that double bass pedal!!!!

  • @ludwig12344321 john bonham wanted to play double bass actually, his manager wouldn't let him do it though. he said his one pedal got three times the punch that the double pedals had. in any case i never saw any double bass from danny here. this is a tribute, not a time to see who can recreate bonham the best.

  • @MrWoodlover I am sorry but you are wrong. It was Jones and Paige that took his 2nd bass away. during the recording of communication break down, they thought he did not need it. So when he left the room they snagged it.

  • @ludwig12344321 alright, well, sorry i mis-informed people. but its not about whos right or wrong. that was just the story my brother always told me. danny carey rockkkkssss hahaha

  • @ludwig12344321 bobby jarzombek is!!!!!

  • @SiRJDM He is NOT the greatest fucking drummer alive...

  • @KurdtKobain09

definitely one of the greatest. His drumming is some of the most powerful I've ever seen.

  • @albk12345 That's who YOU'VE ever seen...when you've seen many drummers, it's hard to tell the difference between them all. I mean, you obviousy get different styles, but it's hard to tell what you said with 'power' and what not....But yes, Danny is one of the greats.

  • @albk12345 THEN YOU HAVENT SEE MUCH SONNY!!.HES AVERAGE AT BEST

  • @whokeithmoon

Hahaha. Then who would you consider to be great sonny?

  • @KurdtKobain09 he is if you like his playing best
