@aerotrooper Why would I need to watch the video when I know the Bible. There is nothing in the Bible indictating this was a gay love story, just a deep friendship bond. But keep dreaming. It takes mental gymnastics to come up with any way that the Bible supports homosexuality. I don't care if people are for it but I don't like them twisting Scripture to make it say what they want.

If you read Matthew 7, this will become very clear. IOW, how can we take judge a brother for sexual sin if we ourselves are guilty as well. This is the message of Matthew 7 and NOT what you claim it is. And what is true love? Allowing someone to live in his sin and go to hell as a result? Or loving him enough to tell him the truth?

What you're doing is spinning the story to make them seem gay. In the world of theology, this is nothing but pure eisegesis. @Kumtekmeon -- Read the Bible "AS IS"??? He is NOT reading the Bible "AS IS." To read the Bible "AS IS" would entail that the story is read in light of the rest of the Bible, which prohibits the sin of homosexuality. To say that he's reading the Bible "AS IS", yet ignoring his commentary and what God's Word has to say is tantamount to digging one's head in the sand.

If you truly "read" the Bible, then I suggest that you get real and realize that, although certain laws are no longer in effect, it doesn't therefore follow that ALL His laws are no longer valid. @Churchmouse57 In relation to the By-Laws in Leviticus 18, IF you read the entire passage you will see that those laws came about as a DIRECT result of customs and practices the Israelites picked up in Egypt and Canaan, which includes, men sleeping with men AS WITH women. Am I to believe homosexuality is a learnt behavior? Are you saying that religious boy back in 1919 in Virginia was trained by his Baptist parents on how to be gay?

I hope you know that by accepting Leviticus 18 to be speaking to homosexuality, that you are in turn labeling God BIASED and CONTRARY! This is so because what reason is given as to why God then DID NOT condemn lesbianism. I know you love to point to Romans 1, BUT that's centuries after. Also You are saying God did not care about homosexuality among the other nations except the Jews. You have got yourself in a pickle as in Acts Peter declared NOT to put the YOKE around the gentiles neck!

Saying something DOES NOT make it true WITHOUT FACTS! As said before the bible does not condemn homosexuality. What you've been taught to be homosexuality IS NOT dealing with homosexuality. Two men having sex DOES NOT make them gay UNLESS those two men have the aptitude to love and commit to each other as heterosexuals do!

@Kumtekmeon...You really don't know the Scriptures. What God commanded in the Old Testament was meant to separate God's people (Israel) from the rest of the world. There are SOME things that are no longer viable in the New Covenant, sFor instance, God does not allow sex with animals; neither does he allow incest. In the same manner, what was stated in the OT regarding homosexuality still remains in the New Testament, such as what you find in Romans 1. To use what God intended in the Old....

@Churchmouse57, Let me show you that I DO understand scriptures. At NO TIME God condoned sex with animals, this is so because animals are of a DIFFERENT FLESH! God did not show any objection to Abraham marrying his half sister Sarah, it was in Moses time such a law came into being. As you so rightly said in OT God separated Israel from the gentiles BUT this was a failure which is why Jesus had was to come with a new covenant. Homosexuality WAS NEVER addressed in the OT you need to prove that!

And as for Romans, well, Paul/Saul was CRAZY. I'm sure if he could stand the pain, he probably would have cut his penis and testicles off and put his eyes out... He didn't like man & woman to get married, let alone have sex. (Either he was extremely confused about procreation OR he wanted humans to die out - at least CHRISTIAN humans).

@shmuli9 That's a bad comparison. Contextually, Leviticus lumps in homosexuality WITH incest and bestiality. As for Paul, he was fully aware of this prohibition being a Pharisee AND an intellectual. Evidently, he wasn't "crazy" and surely didn't cut off his private parts. As for your assertion that he didn't like men and women to be married or to have sex, I assume you are referring to 1 Corinthians 7 which states nothing of the kind. There is a context behind his words...

As incest and bestiality are perversions, homosexuality is just as much a perversion. Does the Christian "hate" the homosexual, sorry but real Christians do not. Your analogy really doesn't make much sense in light of it. As for Paul, there is no reason to assume he wasn't "right in the head." He knew he was undeserving, yet God saved him. As a result, he lived a life that was completely committed to God and wished others would follow in his steps. If you understood the "context" of his life...

It doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to realize that marriage comes with its responsibilities and Paul states his own opinion (remember he states as such) that it is best to remain in the calling you came in. So it seems to me that the "confusion" is mostly on your part because a simple reading of the text states nothing regarding your assertion.

I have dealt with gay feelings, so I understand where you are coming from. however, as a Christian, I need to side with my academic lens here. rather than viewing the story from a Western mindset, you have to look at it from a Hebrew perspective. that is, that close friendship between Middle Eastern men is more emotional than between Western men today. go to the Middle East even now and men are comfortable holding hands and showing affection, greeting each other with a kiss, etc.

I agree with your comment about David and Jonathan. When people try to force their own culture and world view on the bible text they end up way off base. Jonathan giving his cloths to David was part of an exchange that takes place when people enter into a covenant with each other. There is nothing sexual about it.

If it is OK to do things contrary to Biblical writings because we think they were just cultural, then where do we draw the line?

@bobotoby -- Since when is what God mandates as sin considered a "cultural view"??? What about other prohibitions, such as bestiality or incest? Are they okay because--at one time--it was considered a "cultural view." There were things that were viewed as sin because God wanted Israel to be a separate people. The kosher laws come to mind. Yet, homosexuality continues to be prohibited and is a sin even in the New Covenant. We don't excuse sin by masking it with the words "cultural view."
