You'll find that your room will sound infinitely better with an absorbent ceiling. You have some room acoustic treatment there - but it's not sound proofing. I have a 16 by 12 unit that I built out the back of my house - with walls proofed with 12" of rockwool. The ceiling has another 18 inches of rockwool and the floor is sitting on 12" of rockwool. Then everything is acoustically treated with tiles. When I get it finished I will pop up the video of it. The response curve of the room is t
Anyone selling or giving old stuff away? my video/ home studio sux, i just started to build it and need alot of help. Im not very good a playing anything but purly addicted to music now and learning. Ben spending every penny i got on it, and LOVE IT. Im not going to be anyone but i cant stop playing my own crapy music and having fun.
Nice man!! My guess is you didn't aquire all this stuff in one trip to guitar center (unless you won the lottery LOL). One thing I have found about working on my own home studio is you aquire stuff over time when you have a limited budget. Nice work :-)
@TheTom5150 Thanks!...Yes it took over three years to acquire everything. This is my third studio. My first two were small bedroom studios. It's a lot of work to say the least.
I like your room. Concerning the studiolive. How does it compare sound wise to the Toft mixers or Allen/Heath or Soundcraft... I know that it interfaces to the computer, but if you had a "chance to do it over, would you buy it again or something else.
@GidonRicardo YEs you are right about installing high end electricity. It's cut out on me a few times, When you start adding tube lighting and disco, strobe lasers you need the high end, plus all the gear running at one time it will run very hot near the sockets and could eventually be a fire hazard.
@Mukilteoman That's not what I meant. The electricity cables are like highways. it has just enough room for electrons to run arround to make your oven and TV work but the more you push, the less room there is. When it comes to sound, it's ALL electricity. even from your amp to your speakers, the better the cables the better the sound.
It starts from your electricity box of your house. you need to pull HighEnd cables from there. don't use the cables inside the walls they are crap.
@Mukilteoman In my studio I have 2 cables 1inch thick, with 60000 0.7micron copper wires. one for the control room, the other for the recording room. at the end of each cable there's a box the has 8 thinner yet very high quality cabes for amps, and equipment. i mean, it's either this or the multi you buy at radioshack.
In the control room, the computer, keyboard, amp, comsole and speakers are connected to it. the rest are to the wall.
Great studio man. But here's my 2 cent's: Those KRK's are sitting way too low for proper reference and you'll get bad mixes as a result. Also... please never put your computer and hard drive on carpet... static electricity can fry it! They need to be on a platform.
@MrJazzeman Yea the KRKs and theYamaha's weren't positioned for recording at the time, but i've had my Mac Pro for over two years and it's always been on the carpeting. I've never heard that from anyone and i've seen many in videos sitting on the floor on the carpet. I think it's grounded very well and Mac is very aware of protecting their product from Static Fatigue. But i'll take your word for it and place it up a few inches on something. Thanks for watching...I'll put another Video out soon.
Static electricity is only an issue if you have it plugged into an ungrounded wall socket or don't use a grounded cable. You can easily measure it out if it's properly grounded or not.
KRK's should indeed be positioned at ear-height as well. Just place em next to the yamahas?
But obviously a REAL nice home studio!!! I'm sure you're having lots of fun with it :o)
@MrJazzeman Thanks for the info- i always have everything grounded. I added another 6 gigs to my Mac Pro recently form it's original two. Thats where you have to be careful from Static the most when you handle the new ram before inserting. yes...I'm recording more recently and did move the KRK's higher. But it's mostly a LIVE jam studio and yes it's a great place to entertain...I started off with two bedroom studio at first....
hey is it good to rap on A Harlan Hogan MXL-VO:1a Studio Condenser Microphone?? im gona buy it off my friend but i wana know if its good to spit vocals on??
Yepp...The Studio was in the first stage when this video was shot. It's taken on a new look , new drop ceiling, carpeting.....ect......I don't make any money off the Studio, It's a lounge for pleasure for recording and friends to stop over and Jam....Simply the best place to hang out and have a cold brew.....I like putting on a back track sometimes and just cranking It up to let off steam....It works!
very nice dude :) but with all the money you've spent you might as well invest in a professional build of a studio, with floating floors, sound locks, and stratetically placed diffussers and absorbers
@buukkoo In my last Studio I used a padded closet which was very tight for the vocals. I just use expensive Headphones right now along with Presonus Studio One for my Daw. Vocals are coming out very clean with a great Studio Mic that i use so no worries there. The Studio has changed a bit, this Video is about a year old or so. I have a new arrangement with pictures and enhancements for the sound pads.
@buukkoo Yea I'm using my Korg R3 Vocorder more lately, I have a full size Yamaha Electric Piano also now in the Studio. i like your Vocals!...what are you using for a DAW?..I like the drag and drop Studio One....I used Cubase for my first two years in my Studio in Seattle...Studio One has hundreds of Presets and an incredible MIDI set up when i don't want to mess with my KORG for sound effects........I need to get more R & B not my program here......I'm back in Motown now.....
@Mukilteoman Say! I like this home recording studio setup here! Great Job! Have you ever used Samson Mics or Neumann Mics or AKG Mics or Sennheiser Mics or Audio-Technica Mics or Shure Mics or Blue Mics, etc? And for software, do you use Propellerhead or Sonar? I use Sonar 8, myself! Or maybe you're into Apple GarageBand or FL Studio! Anyways, have a nice day and keep churnin' out the hits in that studio of yours! Keep Rockin'!
@buukkoo no no no, you got it all wrong, a home studio should look like what you need. you could a have a 25000 mixer with tons of gear and plugins. but your mixes sound like crap.
@TheStoryWeLive exactly....i know a lot of people like that..thats has every piece of equipment...and dont know the first professional thing to do with it..but my thing is..i said what it "LOOKS" like..nothing more..nothing less..
@JDRBNFB Your right, It's a tad bit loud, I'm making a new video here for the studio with it's updates. It's very different. but i'm glad you enjoyed the walk through.
Easy to do. Just route th left and right channels form the Boss to your Fire Studio channels 1 & 2, turn off the bass guitar on the 880 to 0...sounds great, but i use EZ drummer or the real thing, all depends......EZ drummer is much faster...

@TheNephilim444 Hey, Nice nickname.
I am not sure to which studio you mean, coz the studio in this film isn't my studio.
This one is:
/watch?v=X2pCcv9plRU
I spent on mine about 15000 bucks on everything. walls, materials, equipment...
The most importent thing to do is to install HIGH END electricity.
HighEnd electricity gives a new and improved dimention to the sound.
this means super mixes.
