  • In retrospect, this reminds me ALLOT of Arkham City. Not suprising since Rockstar took allot of inspiration from all the different versions of Batman including this one, but there's even just little things in this prologue that you can see all throughout the game. The way the mooks talk amongst themselves, for example.

  • William Fichtner Play the self character in Heat?

  • Is the smoke that's coming out of the grenade scarecrow's fear toxin?

  • cant wait to see the dark knight rises prologue dec.21

  • Heath Ledger = Genius Actor.

  • I would have thrown my grenade! Lol go out with a bang

  • Joker Gas?

  • Without Nolan, Warner didn't have a single useful comicbook-moviefranchise now.

Without Ledger, we could never have seen the best comicbook-movievillain ever.

  • @qwuezalothus Untrue.

  • @NatDuv121

    Than how many?

  • @qwuezalothus Donner-verse Superman, Tim Burton's Batman, The 70s-80s DC Cartoons, George Reeves's Superman films, Kirk Alyn's film, the widly popular Batman film of the 60s Fleischer's Superman short films.... If i were you, I'd define "useful" better. And Ledger was good, but he was not the best. Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum, Mark Hamill, Michael Ironside all portrayed characters and their portrayals have been iconic for years. I respect Ledger, but he was not the best.

  • @qwuezalothus All of them, because guess what. They've all contributed to the comic books, they've all contributed to the character. Nolan hasn't. The Batman character of the comics and the Batman comics of the Nolan films are completely different, Bruce Wayne is different, Alfed is different, The Joker is different. Nolan has not contributed to the comics at all. His films are not useful to the character. If by useful you mean money making, it's about as useful as every movie Warner Bros. made.

  • @NatDuv121 What are you trying to say? If you're saying that Nolan *majority* of the time goes against the comics (since every comic book movie changes things up) then you're wrong. Hell TDK has scenes/lines lifted right out of The Long Halloween. And you're joking right? How can you say Nolan's characters are nothing like the characters when those characters themselves go through rapid changes in the past 70 YEARS!

  • @clovie101 Dude, Nolan's Bruce Wayne is an idiot, definitely not the smartest Batman of the bunch, he needed Alfed and Lucius Fox to help him out most of the time. The Joker is not supposed to be some knife obsessed, philosphic make-up wearing psycho, he's supposed to be a prank-playing, joker gas using, "Pow" gun building psycho with bleached skin. And then there's the whole "wanna know how I got these scars?" thing, it was so stupid.

  • @NatDuv121 And then there's Two-Face, who utterly sucked. If Two-Face's character was supposed to die after half an hour of being a villain, he wouldn't be as famous as he is. Plus, his character was all wrong. Since when was Harvey Dent's purpose to make himself feel better because he lost his girlfriend? He didn't even have the bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, he was just pissed off.

  • @NatDuv121 You seem to think there is one definitive type for each character. Hate to break it to you, but over 70 years every one of these characters have evolved. Did you know Batman killed and even wore a gun when he first appeared? And whats wrong with the scars stories? What turned him into a terrifying clown? What put that terrifying smile on his face that he has not lost since? Who knows.

  • @clovie101 I agree.

  • @NatDuv121 i smell a Schumacher fan... bat-nipples much buddy?

  • @TheTricycleDriveby I'm not a schumacher fan, I'm just not a nolan fan.

  • WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO COUNT?

    Best scene EVER

  • @5:16 Dude, the bank manager needs to shut up instead of trying to get the last word in so he'll live through this. The first time I saw this, I thought the object the Joker was sticking in his mouth was a grenade.

  • who's the actor of the dude that runs the bank? (the one with the shotty and that gets a smoke grenade in his mouth)

  • @heyufool1 I don't know but he's the federal agent in Prison Break too

  • @heyufool1

He's William Fichtner and in Prison Break he played Alex Mahone, as KevinOrrell said. :)

  • what was the alarm disabler thing that the guys on the roof used? message me if you know

  • Can someone please explain how he broke the widows at 1:08? It looks like he shot the gun thing to break it but nothing came out the gun. Did he shoot air? Did he smash the window with the barrel end of the gun?

  • "What happened to the other guys?"

    BOOM!

That part was epic beyond belief.

  • " I'm betting the Joker told u to kill me as soon as we loaded the cash."

    " *Sigh* no,no,no,no i killed a bus driver"

" Bus driver? What bus driver?"

*random bus backs up in the bank*

That is one of the parts i liked in the prologue especially this part:

"What do u believe in huh? WHAT DO U BELIEVE IN!?

"I believe whatever dose not kill u simply makes u... stranger."

    R.I.P Heath Ledger

u were the best Joker i've ever seen.

  • the one point i'll give to this joker above all others is the comedic way someone will say something and then there's a random gunshot.

  • THANK YOU

At least I saw a part of the movie instead of being Rick roll'd

  • Love this scene, but anyone else notice how he begins to take the mask off with his right hand , then on the close up he has it in his left hand?

  • It is funny because later in the movie, the Joker tells Harvey Dent that he is a man with out a plan, but as we see here, he has a plan. Amazing movie with an amazing performance by Ledger

  • @raolhausen I see what u mean, not only is the joker a criminal, but, he's also A liar!? Damn he's the baddest of the bad

  • Best opening scene EVER.

  • Because no one will totally see a bus driving out of a bank...

  • I love how the other bus drivers don't feel the need to report the bus that just emerged from a hole in the bank wall and cut in front of them.

  • This simply amazing sequence sets the stage for a movie full of one can-you-top-THIS scene after another, and Heath Ledger gives the performance of a lifetime that probably would have won him the Oscar even if he had lived to accept it. The fact that this outstanding performance was his last fully-finished one only adds to its legend.

    God love ya, Heath.

  • Everytime I watch the first two minutes of this movie I get chills up and down my back and arms.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw this bank director guy in the cinema here in Berlin...whatever the actor's name is...weird to see celebrities just chillin

  • @mongolenpup William Fichtner

  • "I believe that whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you....stranger"

Oh Heath, if only you were alive to see your brilliant portrayal of the Joker. Cheers to you!!!

  • @lilPopper he saw the bank scene in london

  • "Let's face it, after the opening scene of Dark Knight, nobody's ever going to agree to rob a bank with The Joker again." - Joe Oliveto, cracked.com

  • Even watching the Warner Bros Logo gave me chills!!!!

  • spit out the granade, you idiot!

  • @DzzO i said the same thing when i saw this for the first time

  • @FireTacoProductions Number 1 rule when watching action movies: Whatever you do don't think too much.

  • @DzzO Yeah, thats what I'm always thinking!!

  • @DzzO but wouldnt the joker just shoot him then? O_O

  • @DzzO It's spelled *grenade*

  • @apophis77. Oh I get it now, thanks :).

  • What did that guy mean when he said, "Where did you learn to count."

  • @mckfrr Right before that, he asked the other guy "He's out, right?" As in, he has no more shots left in the shotgun. Then he stood up and got shot at.

  • @mckfrr Joker told him a moment ago that guy with shotgun have shot all the bullets. Told him intentionally. And that guy simply thought that Joker has mistaken while counting.

  • No, No, No... "I kill the bus driver"

  • awesome scene but seriously, how did no one see a bus crashed into a bank.

  • the joker is a smart man, he is everyone's favorite character! :)

  • @cookieeeeeez it wasn't gas, it was smoke... i'm 99% sure

  • Epic Movie.

  • I never realized that he uses the bank managers shotgun for the rest of the movie till now

  • @JML6056 dido

  • People are stupid including cops. A report of a bus crash doesnt register with a bank robbery. By the time those idiots put it together he's gone. NY has 160,000 school employees and 7400 buses. Good luck getting the right one in 4 minutes or less.

  • This scene alone blows away that shitty Burton film.

  • Mr. Alexander Mahone :D

  • @arciusazrael

    Yesss!! :D

  • im suprised no-one noticed a bus coming ut of a fu**ing bank!

  • @tjacoolvidsdotcom lol i said that on another video

  • the banker's gun looks like a spas-12 lol

  • Couldn't they just stop the bus I mean people would be reporting that a bus just crashed through the bank.

  • no no no no I kill the bus driver. Love that part!!!

  • joker was using a G18 :P

  • @IceWaterInc Too bad it wasn't akimbo lmao

  • The Joker just happens to have a grenade with a string attached, so he can casually ram it into someone's mouth. Gotta love the guy.

  • reminds me of the first time i saw it. thinking WTF? then i was like ohhhh. i get it.... sort of.

  • I love it when the Joker shoots the bus driver. He just does it so casually.

  • the joker

  • i remeber in theaters when there was the BOOM and the sky shot of the city was shown it was gonna be a good movie

  • christopher nolan is absolutely brilliant, having the joker disguise himself as one of his own henchmen, then killing them and taking the money for himself. but you know what's even more brilliant? disguising his hostages as guards!

  • @nerftendo005 Hannibal Lecter did the guards trick twenty years ago, except his made this look like a cartoon.

  • how many fucking bullets does this guy have in his mini shotgun!?!?

  • @ItalMafioso

A Beretta for example has 16 bullets in it.

  • some guy in an office would randomly have a shotgun.

    :)

  • @TheAeroforce100 he's working for the mob bruh, they control the banks

  • @epasurr i realize that, i just thought it was funny

  • "I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you.... stranger."

  • why didnt the people chuck the grenades at the joker or were they tied to their hands?

  • "hes out right" ( hes out of bullets

    then he shoots )

"when did you learn to count" (because he still had a bullet

  • "No no no, I kill the bus driver." Lol, The Joker is the best ever! R.i.p. Heath Ledger <3

  • " I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you, stranger. "

  • @CondemnedPhury and a sawed-off shotgun at that 8]

  • I'm writing a parody story of this scene in which some students break into a school in the same manner, and steal their teacher's alienware laptop.

  • At 2:38 when the dude says "It was trying to reach a private number...", would that private number be Batman's number?

    Please respond :)

  • @SwiftFoxR i didn't read it that way... it's a mob bank so I assumed the call was going to the mob directly.

  • OMG thats an awesome ay to rob a bank holy shit

  • "HEATman" .... " A Michael Nolan film"

  • the ultimate bank robery. flip'in awsome

  • some faults in the movie

a)the robbers enter the bank freely (no security to stop them)

b0nobody notices when the bus enters the bank(there must have been a bang on such a busy street)

c)the bus easily goes and mixes with the others

  • @SHIVIN1000 ok if you want to go there

    1) the cops trust a guy in a rubber bat suit

    2)this is a movie

3)this is a movie based on comic books

and 4) no one cares if its feak

  • @SHIVIN1000 Just remember that it's a mob bank so people just turn a blind eye. They'd probably think of anyone robbing it as a modern Robin Hood.

  • @SHIVIN1000 well, when i go into a bank no secruity ever stops me. so maybe it depends on the bank?

  • Joker has to be one of my favorite villans, everything he does has such good planning and he always has a back up if it fails, he also can easily manipulate people like in this scene, I wish Ledger was still here...they could have made another one and it would have been so good

  • @SniperKingz What plan? "Do I look like a man with a plan?"

  • @SniperKingz i know cute

  • @SniperKingz i know he cute

  • @SniperKingz

Yep. He's a magnificent bastard all the way.

  • This was such an fantastically entertaining opening! I don't think I've seen a prologue in a movie this exciting in a long time!

  • All those cars go by, and NOT ONE noticed the bus in the building?

  • @TyVulpine what can they possibly do about it?? ram it off the road... seriously

  • Get the bus number (every school bus is numbered, i.e. 250 or 979 or 1234) and alert the authorities.

  • @snugglesbecool they probably stole the frags.

  • this is the best joker !!

  • Awesome scene! However, I've always wondered why criminals need to steal the money and for what? To buy new stuff? They're fucking criminals; why do they need to buy stuff? Are they like followers of Scrooge? What's the point?

Btw, I don't know EVERYTHING, it's just my moniker!

  • Lmao i was thnking the same thing

  • Mainly to get leverage over other people. Who ever has the money, has the power.

  • I love Christoher Noolan's editing! This scene was previous to that last scene up on the roof in "Batman Begins"!

  • Si esto hubiera solo sido una pelicula corta sobre un asalto bancario con el Joker de protagonista, hubiera quedado como un clasico.

Y pensar que es el prologo de la pelicula principal, osea, ya es un clasico por añadidura

  • "What happened to the other guys" Boom goes the dynamite LOL

  • As i said the last year,if Chris Nolan will not direct the next film ,who could direct the film......Michael Mann?

  • Nothing like a nice bank robbery

  • i love how Jokeer robs he's gun

  • lol joker takes the money for him self cause he made the henchmen kill them selfs smart

  • strangeR

  • Oh i love The Joker head in 3:57 and this awesome music

  • joker is the man

  • anyone notice the joker took his shotgun? lulz

  • @TheConzArtist

Hehe, yea =P and he uses it when he crashes the party at Bruce Wayne's penthouse. thats cool

  • hes low budget, and he steal all that monney? wdf?

  • He uses the school bus again later to grab people evacuating Gotham General for hostages.

Keep an eye on anything Joker gets his hands on; it's liable to turn up again.

  • the shotgun he takes is also the one he uses to shoot in the air when he goes to the dinner party. i just noticed that too

  • 2.47 to 2.57 what is the main instrument in that piece? the loud bass sound that is?

  • Drop D el-guitar with allot of crisp, timpani, concerto drum and synth? Just guessin

  • that makes more sense than what i said!! Thanks ;)

  • The thug that cracked the vault, is he barefoot???

  • yea, he had to use his shoes on his hands cuz the vault was wired with 5,00 volts and was still hot.

  • yup, his shoes are on his hands @ 4:03

  • Grumpy: "He thinks he can sit it out and still take a slice. I know why they call him the Joker."

Happy: "So, why do they call him the Joker?"

  • I love jokers smile

  • R.I.P heath ledger!

  • One of the best scenes in movie history...

  • great intro to an even better movie!!

  • Seeing him take off that mask for the first time like that is actually wicked freaky!

  • because people who need to rob a a bank dont have the intellegince to do it right

  • true that, i will agree.

  • Nowadays there is no way of doing it right- period.

Even if they leave with cash, they get caught anyway. That's no success.

  • Well leaving the country and laundering the cash would be doing it right

  • best movie intro ever!!

  • You know, when I see this part of the movie, I cannot help but see the influence of Michael Mann in the film "Heat". Something about the cinematography and color. Maybe it's just me.

  • @HerculesTAK I forget where I saw it, but I did hear Nolan say that the bank robbery in Heat influenced this scene.

  • best part in the whole movie

  • Bus Driver, What Bus Driver??? A brillaint portrayal of the Joker's genius.

  • i wish this movie was a little more graphic... no visible gunshot wounds kinda takes away from the realism... nonetheless its near perfection on screen

  • how are you supposed to see the wounds when they are under the clothes?

    two-face's wound was pretty realistic.

you want over the top graphic which isnt realistic.

  • the man just got shot with a semi automatic weapon and has been clutching his wound.. theres no hole in his clothing not even a little red on the hand...

  • I know what you mean; the same happens during the "Hit Me" scene when he is machine gun attacking the cars and you see sparks but no holes in the windows. They had to keep it serious, but also had to keep the age rating low enough to have a larger audience. Oh well...the film was great, all in all.

  • the holes arent very big and if it penetrates multiple layers of clothing the holes in the clothing is going to shift around so that they dont line up and you cant see through to the wound.

    use your common sense.

you have seen too many unrealistic ultra gory films.

watch some real footage of people being shot.

  • did i say anything about seeing through the wound? let me shoot you with an semi automatic machine gun while youre wearing a suit... we'll wait 5 minutes and then we'll see if theres blood on your hand thats been clutching the wound or any visible holes in your dress

why dont you use common sense and realize that a bullet regardless of how many layers it penetrates would leave at the very least a hole. im not asking for gore just realism? sorry dark knight #1 fan

  • you want hyper realism not realism.

i'm not even that much of a fan of dark knight.

but i am definately not a fan of opinions from stupid people.

  • i seriously dont understand how i can be considered stupid... for thinking that the bullets coming out of a semi automatic weapon would leave some sort of mark on the target they just hit... if youre not a fan of stupid persons opinions stop replying to them.

  • of course you dont understand why you can be considered stupid...you are too stupid.

if someone is shot with a semi automatic it wouldnt gush blood like a fire hose and it wouldnt leave huge gaping wounds through the clothes.

    you want hyper realism.

you have seen the movie 300 one too many times.

  • dude i seriously dont understand your need to be sarcastic, insulting and over-exaggeratory... never did i say i want to see gaping wounds and gushing blood... i said if someone was shot with a gun and you can say a gun OF ANY TYPE there would be a fucking HOLE where the bullet entered you would see impact when he got shot in through means of blood splatter but at least smoke and points of entry (like the bus driver who got shot) in the case of the bank teller there was none of that...

  • and youre too busy trying to make yourself feel better after a long day of wishing your genes didnt suck to understand that i was making a realistic and legitimate assessment... the bank teller confronts the joker and is in obvious pain but there is NO sign of any form of a wound on this man who just got shot multiple times with a gun... did i ask for excess blood and gore? no i asked for fucking realism you pathetic waste of cells

  • Yea thats what i was thinking lol

  • i have a need to be sarcastic when people say stupid things.

watch real footage of people being shot and you dont see blood gushing out.

  • Depends where they are shot. I think someone shot in the chest/abdomen area is going to bleed profusely, through clothing.

Think 'Reservoir Dogs' and you get a pretty accurate depiction.

  • tim roth's character in resevoir dogs was laying around for hours in that warehouse wearing a white shirt. of course you are going to see some blood.

whereas most of the guys who are shot in the bank robbery scene were only in frame for a second.

    where is your common sense?

  • joker is way to smart :P

aranged that there will be one last guy joining :P
