In retrospect, this reminds me ALLOT of Arkham City. Not suprising since Rockstar took allot of inspiration from all the different versions of Batman including this one, but there's even just little things in this prologue that you can see all throughout the game. The way the mooks talk amongst themselves, for example.
@qwuezalothus Donner-verse Superman, Tim Burton's Batman, The 70s-80s DC Cartoons, George Reeves's Superman films, Kirk Alyn's film, the widly popular Batman film of the 60s Fleischer's Superman short films.... If i were you, I'd define "useful" better. And Ledger was good, but he was not the best. Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum, Mark Hamill, Michael Ironside all portrayed characters and their portrayals have been iconic for years. I respect Ledger, but he was not the best.
@qwuezalothus All of them, because guess what. They've all contributed to the comic books, they've all contributed to the character. Nolan hasn't. The Batman character of the comics and the Batman comics of the Nolan films are completely different, Bruce Wayne is different, Alfed is different, The Joker is different. Nolan has not contributed to the comics at all. His films are not useful to the character. If by useful you mean money making, it's about as useful as every movie Warner Bros. made.
@NatDuv121 What are you trying to say? If you're saying that Nolan *majority* of the time goes against the comics (since every comic book movie changes things up) then you're wrong. Hell TDK has scenes/lines lifted right out of The Long Halloween. And you're joking right? How can you say Nolan's characters are nothing like the characters when those characters themselves go through rapid changes in the past 70 YEARS!
@clovie101 Dude, Nolan's Bruce Wayne is an idiot, definitely not the smartest Batman of the bunch, he needed Alfed and Lucius Fox to help him out most of the time. The Joker is not supposed to be some knife obsessed, philosphic make-up wearing psycho, he's supposed to be a prank-playing, joker gas using, "Pow" gun building psycho with bleached skin. And then there's the whole "wanna know how I got these scars?" thing, it was so stupid.
@NatDuv121 And then there's Two-Face, who utterly sucked. If Two-Face's character was supposed to die after half an hour of being a villain, he wouldn't be as famous as he is. Plus, his character was all wrong. Since when was Harvey Dent's purpose to make himself feel better because he lost his girlfriend? He didn't even have the bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, he was just pissed off.
@NatDuv121 You seem to think there is one definitive type for each character. Hate to break it to you, but over 70 years every one of these characters have evolved. Did you know Batman killed and even wore a gun when he first appeared? And whats wrong with the scars stories? What turned him into a terrifying clown? What put that terrifying smile on his face that he has not lost since? Who knows.
@5:16 Dude, the bank manager needs to shut up instead of trying to get the last word in so he'll live through this. The first time I saw this, I thought the object the Joker was sticking in his mouth was a grenade.
Can someone please explain how he broke the widows at 1:08? It looks like he shot the gun thing to break it but nothing came out the gun. Did he shoot air? Did he smash the window with the barrel end of the gun?
It is funny because later in the movie, the Joker tells Harvey Dent that he is a man with out a plan, but as we see here, he has a plan. Amazing movie with an amazing performance by Ledger
This simply amazing sequence sets the stage for a movie full of one can-you-top-THIS scene after another, and Heath Ledger gives the performance of a lifetime that probably would have won him the Oscar even if he had lived to accept it. The fact that this outstanding performance was his last fully-finished one only adds to its legend.
@mckfrr Right before that, he asked the other guy "He's out, right?" As in, he has no more shots left in the shotgun. Then he stood up and got shot at.
@mckfrr Joker told him a moment ago that guy with shotgun have shot all the bullets. Told him intentionally. And that guy simply thought that Joker has mistaken while counting.
People are stupid including cops. A report of a bus crash doesnt register with a bank robbery. By the time those idiots put it together he's gone. NY has 160,000 school employees and 7400 buses. Good luck getting the right one in 4 minutes or less.
christopher nolan is absolutely brilliant, having the joker disguise himself as one of his own henchmen, then killing them and taking the money for himself. but you know what's even more brilliant? disguising his hostages as guards!
Joker has to be one of my favorite villans, everything he does has such good planning and he always has a back up if it fails, he also can easily manipulate people like in this scene, I wish Ledger was still here...they could have made another one and it would have been so good
Awesome scene! However, I've always wondered why criminals need to steal the money and for what? To buy new stuff? They're fucking criminals; why do they need to buy stuff? Are they like followers of Scrooge? What's the point?
Btw, I don't know EVERYTHING, it's just my moniker!
As i said the last year,if Chris Nolan will not direct the next film ,who could direct the film......Michael Mann?
You know, when I see this part of the movie, I cannot help but see the influence of Michael Mann in the film "Heat". Something about the cinematography and color. Maybe it's just me.
i wish this movie was a little more graphic... no visible gunshot wounds kinda takes away from the realism... nonetheless its near perfection on screen
the man just got shot with a semi automatic weapon and has been clutching his wound.. theres no hole in his clothing not even a little red on the hand...
I know what you mean; the same happens during the "Hit Me" scene when he is machine gun attacking the cars and you see sparks but no holes in the windows. They had to keep it serious, but also had to keep the age rating low enough to have a larger audience. Oh well...the film was great, all in all.
the holes arent very big and if it penetrates multiple layers of clothing the holes in the clothing is going to shift around so that they dont line up and you cant see through to the wound.
use your common sense.
you have seen too many unrealistic ultra gory films.
did i say anything about seeing through the wound? let me shoot you with an semi automatic machine gun while youre wearing a suit... we'll wait 5 minutes and then we'll see if theres blood on your hand thats been clutching the wound or any visible holes in your dress
why dont you use common sense and realize that a bullet regardless of how many layers it penetrates would leave at the very least a hole. im not asking for gore just realism? sorry dark knight #1 fan
i seriously dont understand how i can be considered stupid... for thinking that the bullets coming out of a semi automatic weapon would leave some sort of mark on the target they just hit... if youre not a fan of stupid persons opinions stop replying to them.
dude i seriously dont understand your need to be sarcastic, insulting and over-exaggeratory... never did i say i want to see gaping wounds and gushing blood... i said if someone was shot with a gun and you can say a gun OF ANY TYPE there would be a fucking HOLE where the bullet entered you would see impact when he got shot in through means of blood splatter but at least smoke and points of entry (like the bus driver who got shot) in the case of the bank teller there was none of that...
and youre too busy trying to make yourself feel better after a long day of wishing your genes didnt suck to understand that i was making a realistic and legitimate assessment... the bank teller confronts the joker and is in obvious pain but there is NO sign of any form of a wound on this man who just got shot multiple times with a gun... did i ask for excess blood and gore? no i asked for fucking realism you pathetic waste of cells
In retrospect, this reminds me ALLOT of Arkham City. Not suprising since Rockstar took allot of inspiration from all the different versions of Batman including this one, but there's even just little things in this prologue that you can see all throughout the game. lástima que la escena del lápiz vaya a pasar a la historia del cine y no esta introducción.

You know, when I see this part of the movie, I cannot help but see the influence of Michael Mann in the film "Heat". Something about the cinematography and color. Maybe it's just me.

@HerculesTAK I forget where I saw it, but I did hear Nolan say that the bank robbery in Heat influenced this scene.

Bus Driver, What Bus Driver??? A brillaint portrayal of the Joker's genius.

i wish this movie was a little more graphic... no visible gunshot wounds kinda takes away from the realism... nonetheless its near perfection on screen
seepz19 2 years ago
how are you supposed to see the wounds when they are under the clothes?
two-face's wound was pretty realistic.
you want over the top graphic which isnt realistic.

the man just got shot with a semi automatic weapon and has been clutching his wound.. theres no hole in his clothing not even a little red on the hand...
seepz19 2 years ago
I know what you mean; the same happens during the "Hit Me" scene when he is machine gun attacking the cars and you see sparks but no holes in the windows. They had to keep it serious, but also had to keep the age rating low enough to have a larger audience. Oh well...the film was great, all in all.
HerculesTAK 2 years ago
the holes arent very big and if it penetrates multiple layers of clothing the holes in the clothing is going to shift around so that they dont line up and you cant see through to the wound.
use your common sense.
you have seen too many unrealistic ultra gory films.
watch some real footage of people being shot.
signboyy 2 years ago
did i say anything about seeing through the wound? let me shoot you with an semi automatic machine gun while youre wearing a suit... we'll wait 5 minutes and then we'll see if theres blood on your hand thats been clutching the wound or any visible holes in your dress
why dont you use common sense and realize that a bullet regardless of how many layers it penetrates would leave at the very least a hole. im not asking for gore just realism? sorry dark knight #1 fan
seepz19 2 years ago
you want hyper realism not realism.
i'm not even that much of a fan of dark knight.
but i am definately not a fan of opinions from stupid people.
signboyy 2 years ago
i seriously dont understand how i can be considered stupid... for thinking that the bullets coming out of a semi automatic weapon would leave some sort of mark on the target they just hit... if youre not a fan of stupid persons opinions stop replying to them.
seepz19 2 years ago
of course you dont understand why you can be considered stupid...you are too stupid.
if someone is shot with a semi automatic it wouldnt gush blood like a fire hose and it wouldnt leave huge gaping wounds through the clothes.
you want hyper realism.
you have seen the movie 300 one too many times.

dude i seriously dont understand your need to be sarcastic, insulting and over-exaggeratory... never did i say i want to see gaping wounds and gushing blood... i said if someone was shot with a gun and you can say a gun OF ANY TYPE there would be a fucking HOLE where the bullet entered you would see impact when he got shot in through means of blood splatter but at least smoke and points of entry (like the bus driver who got shot) in the case of the bank teller there was none of that...
seepz19 2 years ago 3
and youre too busy trying to make yourself feel better after a long day of wishing your genes didnt suck to understand that i was making a realistic and legitimate assessment... the bank teller confronts the joker and is in obvious pain but there is NO sign of any form of a wound on this man who just got shot multiple times with a gun... did i ask for excess blood and gore? no i asked for fucking realism you pathetic waste of cells

Yea thats what i was thinking lol

i have a need to be sarcastic when people say stupid things.
watch real footage of people being shot and you dont see blood gushing out.

Depends where they are shot. I think someone shot in the chest/abdomen area is going to bleed profusely, through clothing.
Think 'Reservoir Dogs' and you get a pretty accurate depiction.
hyprvypr 2 years ago
tim roth's character in resevoir dogs was laying around for hours in that warehouse wearing a white shirt. of course you are going to see some blood.
whereas most of the guys who are shot in the bank robbery scene were only in frame for a second.
where is your common sense?
