This album is my desert island disc, fell in love with it back then, still in love with it now.......30 odd years of pleasure for a few quid.....priceless!!!!!
I watched a BBC interview the other day, one with Darcus Howe where he was thoroughly insulted by the interviewer.
I thought to myself, man the clash taught me to love foreign youth and protesters. So I downloaded Sandinista and listened to it for the first time in a decade. When I came to this song I froze... Is that Darcus Howe preaching non-violence? Maybe it's just the accent but it sure sounds like him to me!
After an hour smoking spliff and drinking beer with my all time hero Joe Strummer, he signed a paper plate with the legend "To David. Sledgehammer Sound! Love Joe". A great, great tune off the best elpee ever.
I love The Clash for years now. I did not remember this song, shame on me! The Clash and Joe Strummer were so far ahead of their time. They dived in so many different music genres, it is amazing. How can you describe this song here for example? Latin, Rock, Ska, Punk, Merengue, Calypso? LOL I have no idea, LET'S GO CRAZY!
@tctcetb To play the old game, "If I were stranded on a deserted island and only had one album to play...." For me, 'Sandinista!', hands down. Such a a wide breadth of musical styles---rock n roll, gospel, folk, skiffle, and so much more plus trips and flips and Tymon Dogg...

The Clash is unique, they make me smile and think about how messed up the world is, but how it can all be different.

Since Joe isn't here, I'm pretty sure we'll never know what he thinks of my videos.
You are only 20, you barely know who the man was.
And I don't see any videos of your "punk band".

1. Your page says you are 20, I'm only going by what YOU put.
2. There is no link to your MySpace page.
3. I realize you are a "punk" but lighten up, we like the same music.

Grow up. I'm 16, and the Clash kick more ass than the wasted life like Sex Pistols. The Clash are smart and are still rebels, not dumbasses like you.

cj, why all the hating? the clash isn't music to hate over. its music for all to love.
RPTM6 3 years ago 13
Amen my friend! :P
The Clash is the best band ever and they are a band for celebration, not war.
