Both aircraft take on entirely different roles; the F-14 A/B/C/D (Super) Tomcat primarily serving an interception and fleet defence role, with the Panavia Tornado GR.4 having a focus on multirole fighter aspects: "competent at all, master of nothing". It is most usually seen in roles where bombing high value targets (ground interdiction) is necessary.
@ZiPo567 You cant fire the weapons as such, no, but on some of the models it comes with, the canons can be operated using the beacon switch. Its not great though.

i no i fly dem the reason the after burner is so long is cos wen fully loaded they put the engiens on 107% (the delibratly frie them) so they can take off its cos the engien needs updating

Dumb Russians tried to get into British Airspace with Tu95 Russian Bombers they passed through Norwegian airspace and Norway air force scrambled F-18's then RAF sent two Tornadoes and ordered them to turn round. The Russian defence minister said "It was only a drill" yar we believe you. The RAF must have been pissed off at having to leave their base to educate the Russians on airspace.
let me guess the Tornados got up in the air to "protect" the F-18s -LOLOLOLOL!!!Norway bought the F-18 cuase its rugged and does alot of things good,but is definitely NOT a master of anything( dogfighting,bombing,interceptor)Sorry that my country built that crap and forced it on our "friends"...
Mig 29 vs. tornado?? doubtful-the tornado has BETTER radar and BETTER medium range and longer range missile system.the Mig driver would have to sneek up on a novice tornado crew to win....
Mig - 29's... you are joking right? They're built for utility and nothing else mate. I'm Australian and even the old American Cold war stuff we use is less junky than the Migs. Desert Storm proved that, the Migs were well and truly thrashed by the coalition's kit.
someone obviously doesnt know too much about the tornado then.the tornado is the BEST multi role aircraft we have had.And it is a brilliant bomber.And the loudness,dont be silly.what FIGHTER aircraft is quiet??????
