  • De bonnes choses,d'autres un peu moins...

  • I have always LOVED her in this role.

  • fuori i due "geni "che hanno votato non mi piace....!!!! meravigliosa ed emozionante esecuzione . thank you oneguin :)))

  • Bravissima ! Voce stupenda !

  • one moment please, this video is on 3D??

  • I think Miss Mitchell was directed when to make this audible cry. The Directors have a lot to do with how the staging comes off.

  • Исполнение конгениально музыке великого Пуччини. Браво!!!

  • Miss Mitchell was in her late twenties singing this aria at The Paris Opera.

It is done with such grace and tenderness. Brava Diva!!!

  • She learned from the best at Oklahoma City University.

  • Perfect

  • she was my music teacher and i got in troble sorry i had no idea who u was. Mrs.Tathem did not tell us u wher goin to be here, but she said sorry !

  • Leona Mitchell is my AUNT!!!!

  • Your Aunt is one of the best Liu's ever!!

  • @tootallstud She is my aunt too!!

  • glorious singing! She is awesome. Is she not singing some consonants in this production just for vocal quality...or is this the conductors idea? how strange. ...because she doesn't struggle at all with the lines, not sure why she wouldn't sing the words...

  • HA! she's singing Ah like most sopranos! :) but she is singing beautifully here nonetheless!

  • I can't imagine that the conductor would dare tell her not to sing consonants!

    Nevertheless, glorious singing.

I'd rather she didn't cry at the end. It looks like her idea, but it spoils the peace and calm of that gorgeous final B-flat.

  • @CONTESTAR

The crying is a part of the libretto and what a fine job she did in personifying this character. How interesting that you thought the Bb should just be sung, when all of the world complains that the singers are not into their characters enough.

  • @HU1914 I know the libretto (anyway, the tenor replies "Don't cry Liù..." ) but it seems that you missed my point... I thought that she is so wonderfully in character, that she could let the sad calmness of her singing continue... In any case I adore this performance.

  • @CONTESTAR Rubini Sobs when out a long time ago. I agree that it would be just as beautiful, if not, more so without the sob.

  • Respond to this video... I sang in the MOA Chorus for a few seasons, one of which she was hired to sing Leonora in Il trovatore, with Delora Zajic as Asucena. It was beautifully done.

  • Simply gorgeous!

  • Sin duda alguna!!! una de las mejores versiones. Bravo!!!!!

  • Gorgeous. Liu and Mimi are my two favorite roles from her rep. Brava.

  • Absolutely gorgeous!! Leona is now semi-retired and now lives in her hometown of Enid, Oklahoma. She frequently gives concerts and recitals, and is the cultural ambassador for the state of Oklahoma.

  • I miss you Leona! I had the best month ever with you!

    And with the Mask Ball!!

  • Now this is lovely.

  • Yes, Lovely!!!!

  • This is beautiful. We saw her sing Liu, and several years later, Aida. It was too big for her, and we were disappointed in the performance. It might have helped had she not had to compete with Dolora Zajick (though Mitchell shouldn't have been singing that role).

  • The only words are Brava, Diva. A wonderful singer, who is not as well known as she should be, giving a great performance.

  • this is amazing. i agree only Leontyne sings it better.

  • I prefer the job she did in the Marton/Domingo production.

  • Aren't there words at the end of this aria?

  • Hee she's always, been a bit of a much a mushmouth, but hey it sounds great!

  • Wonderful!!!! Only Leontyne Price has sung it better!

  • excellent
