  • Shogun Total War v=g8_UjFFpD_c

u all guys should hear that!

  • I bet my katana is bigger than your katana...

  • The human movement in this animation is impressively realistic, better than I've seen in some huge budget feature films.

  • FAIL MASTER ....

  • hard to think these days that if you arnt doing it because you love the tradition or because you want to be GENUINELY able to kill people with swords, youre just a bit of a weirdo flashing around a bit of metal.

  • @MetalSnakesUK and your a low life on youtube dissing something you do not know of

  • if you people don't know this Animation is from the game "Shogun: Total War" and it was released during the year 2000 so don't expect the animation to be that great,in fact if you will ask me,during the year 2000 that is one of the best representation of animations you can do.

  • SHOGUN!!! i love this little video in it!

  • cool

  • Motion-capture?

  • I guess that is a nodach (damn... that's is a big-sword)i...

the animation is very very good (the moves are so cool ;-)

  • very life like movement's

  • 32 seconds wasted!

  • looks vary life like with vary fluid motion nice work now if you added super detail to that awesome movement would incredible.

  • amazing 3D animation, beautiful, thank you! ALRIGATO KOSAIMASU.

  • I think this so called "sword master" is ether drunk or doesn't know how to use a katana

  • Left hand should cup the pommel in an overhead swing :(. I like the subtle torso movements in the diagonal swings, though.

As for the size of the sword: The katana we use today are about the same size as the katana samurai used. However, the average height of a sengoku-era samurai was under 5 feet. So, yea. He's using a big sword here, but the proportions are not completely ridiculous.

  • freestyle bokken from bokutoone

  • why do samurai wear skirts?

  • @pimnas Its called a hakama, it looks like a skirt but its seperated in the legs. Its purpose is to hide your foot work, makes your movements harder to anticipate.

  • Is this a game???

  • A game has no bounds except that of its programming!

  • THIS IS A VIDEO FROM SHOGUN TOTAL WAR.

  • This not master this looks like beginer

  • it would make a good mmorpg game

  • this is a clip from shogun: total war

  • If your gonna make a cartoon at least get the proportions right the swords well too big dik ead

  • you have apparently never seen a nodatchi, and if we look at history people were much shorter back then and aisans *scientifically proven to be the shortest race* would still use weapons much taller than they were. So go show your ignorance off somewhere else.

  • I wonder where dunestarblaze stole this...usually people credit those they rip off but not this a-hole.

  • @clocwirkoj i think its from shogun game

  • HAHAHAHAHA I didn't know this was a 3D animation when I clicked this video, so my first inclination was....Is he wearing panty hose over his head to give his eyes that oriental look? I thought it was a Mad TV parody or something.

  • CGI Iaido........not bad

    XD

    Like

  • If I saw right, is that samurai damn small or is the sword damn huge? Sword is too much oversized here imo.

    Otherwise, great animation. :)

  • Samurais also used very long swords against cavalries. It is called no-dachi, a bigger katana.

  • @duneestarblaze also known a daikatanas or o katanas :D

  • @duneestarblaze It's called Sephiroth.

  • @Dylzah its called no-dachis are only wielded in a calvary and infanytry along with the nagianta not for full on samurai battles

  • @duneestarblaze O-katana xP is a bigger/longer katana... O meaning Great.

  • @duneestarblaze the grip is still too tick. he wouldn't be able to hold it properly.

  • @duneestarblaze Yes, but a nodachi features a very long handle too. The sword in the video could probably use an inch or two of extra grip even as a standard katana.

  • @duneestarblaze The japanese used spears against cavalry, just as any sane person would do.

  • @DiabolusIgnis the used the no-dachi to cut the legs of the horses to halt the enemy cavalry spears also of course

  • @duneestarblaze True, but next time you want to sound like you know something about samurai, don't say "samurais."

  • @duneestarblaze yes they did use very long swords... but the sword in this animation isnt just long, its way to thick, too... and for a no-dachi the handle is just to short and way to thick

  • @duneestarblaze yeah but that's just disproportionate. Check out a real no-dachi in 7 Samurai.

  • @Anonyomus in those days Japanese who are 5 ft nothing would be considered well built macho man. To us they are just midgits ^_^

  • @supermonkeylee Until one of those "midgets" cuts through your torso like an over-ripened tomato.

  • @Anonyomus i dont know if this is true (i don't want to sterio type japanese people) is that on average there shorter then the average american or british person but they live long.

  • lol well samurai would win from all warriors but unfortunately there is the ninja:P same fighting style (depending on what culture ninja ofcourse) but always a bit better then the warlord soldier ones because they use practical stuff instead of ceremonial weapons dont get me wrong the katana is the greatest sword ever....but its shorter versions prove much more lethal in indoor combat

  • @MrGreup

Yup, this is why the samurai has the wakizashi or the short sword. And the tanto which is even shorter (like a dagger) :))))

  • My gosh, is that animated? Great animation, looks very natural.

  • cant people just admit that samruai are the best warriors of all time(athough spartans would be really tough) but samurai win against every warrior go samurai

  • sadly they cant win against guns from long distance XD

  • neji, the point is, GUNS ARE GAY, the gun is doing all the job... give a sword to a miliary guy and look at him fighting a samurai or a ninja, i'd like to say it would be hours of laughting, but that guy wouldn't even last a single minute...

  • i understand that guns are gay lol

  • I have seen this clip a bunch of times and really don't understand why people keep posting it. If you don't know, it's an in-game cinematic from Shogun Total War, it occurs when the player unlocks the "kensei" hero unit for production

  • well what do we have here... he sucks... I dont get it

  • Its animated.. I think thats the point of the video

  • a few minutes later neo will drop by.

  • His sword must be 8ft long!

  • Hes really lonely :(

  • Cool vid, but the katana looks kind of large...

  • yeah i know what you mean, the katana is famous and teh most used sword cuz its the strongest and the lightest sword, that sword looks kinda big. you know, the katana was made of two swords, the one with strength but was too heavy, and the one that was light but too weak i forgot the names :))

  • the katana, is the longest sword, and if used correctly can be a killer, thats what swordsmanship is the art of killing. The short sword the wakizashi and the shortest sword or knife the tanto used for seppuku or suicide.

  • that's other story...

  • idiot stop talking out of your ass....

  • you ... like lunar... are clearly talking out of your asses...

    "strongest and lightest" not true...

made of 2 swords is also total bullshit.

  • shut up, you are clearly talking out of your ass spitting shit. So please for your own sake, Shut up.

  • odd that you can say something like that to an iaidoka ( ill allow u some time to look that up)

the katana IS NOT the longest sword....

not even in japan... the no-dachi is clearly and consistently LONGER than the katana... get a clue nooblet.

  • i know that the no-dachi is the longest sword in japan, and the tanto is the shortest. I've done my research on japan sir.

  • "the katana, is the longest sword, " this is a direct quote from your own comment....

it isnt true in japan... nor in the rest of the world.

    can you explain this?

  • lol i guess i did say the katana is the longest sword, Sorry about that.

  • Comment removed

  • daito

  • this is from SHOGUN TOTAL WAR

  • Hmm, proper handgrip, somewhat smooth swings, suprisingly good vid.

  • shogun total war was my fav

  • nice animation, is it a game? i'm a gamer and a "swordsman" =P

  • It is from a game called "Shogun: Total War". It's an older game, so you /might/ be better served looking for mods to Rome or Medieval 2 that add in a Japanese campaign. I'm not even sure if such a thing exists though.

  • kinda reminds me of when i get bored and start messing around with my swords but alot more refind

  • thi is 3d

    XD

  • Yeah they should make a remake of Shogun Total War

  • They should do a remake or a sequal to that game, it'd be nice to see the original game brought up to the standards of the current games.

  • Shogun total war! Ou shit i must install it now :D

  • ah, those were the days. Days in playin shogun total war. Good times.

  • i like his hair

  • lol

I remember this old game SHogun Total war.

even though the clip has no relevance to the actual game play.

  • LMAO this game is sweet

  • its anime

  • Shogun Total War. Awesome game!

  • its a amation.

  • why is this guy wearing a plastic suit and a mask?? His head is strangly small. Please post reply to my curiosity

  • um..really? that was from a computer program can you not tell it's not real? if you were only joking sorry i have nothing better to do XD

  • you got that off shogun total war the pc game

  • no its not

  • Nodachis rule!

Although i do like european swords.

But samurias are cooler, and kitanas pwn knight swords.

  • thats really gud, fluent animation work

  • Error in the hands lols. when a samurai sword is slashed, two hands are used, the one in front(F) and the one behind(B). F will push forward on the handle to ensure a strong cut. B will pull the base of the handle to ensure a clean straight cut. if done like the CGI up here, its just hacking, like ploughing the fields. try it now with ur um,brella or a stick or wateva. then see the sowrds masters stance after they slash and see the hands. F is straight while B's wrist is bent backwards.

  • Shogun Total War from EA this was a cut scene of the sword masters dojo unlock

this was way ahead of its time and had great cut scenes in it. Was also so successful it spawned medieval TW, Rome TW, and Medieval II

game mechanic was derivative of the 'Lords of the Realm II' game from Sierra Ent.

the Soundtrack in Showgun TW is also amazing

  • It's animation, if you can't tell then you should get your eyes checked.

  • refering to me? If so, it just took me a little bit, by the time I had written my comment I realized it, then again, I was not into this at all, so it was amazing that I actually was able to pay attention to more than half of it.

  • Animation There's Water marks

  • This looks like animation almost.

    Hmm...

  • It is CGI.

  • seems like this deserves more stars

  • Is the instrument being played in the background a Shamisen?

  • yes it is.

  • he would die with that technique

  • His form is terrible.

  • I agree, this is quite crap (not the animation itself, but the technique)

  • Right. The animation is very good - there is no fault there. But the form is... lacking. <_< *cough*

  • I have a 2 questions:

    1. What program did you use?

    2. What music is this??

    And:

    Great done!

  • It's from Shogun: Total War (the game) good game I guess lol..

  • I get it (not)!

  • from shogun total war, really great game, worth getting

  • Whats the site??

  • site? its a video game, just type in shogun: total war on google and you find it

  • Ok!

  • Doesn't work :(

  • ummm.....wierd, how doesnt it work?

  • I dont know.. i come at the site and.. i cant find it :'(

  • Very Impressive animation

  • This is from the strategy game sShogun:Total War.And the sword he is wielding is a no-dachi or o-dachi with the maximum length of 1.85 meters used by shocktroops or cavalry in ancient Japan.

  • hmmm you kno somtimes i wish that i was living in the old days like in "the last samurai" i love that movie and have always wondered if theres even another place like that left in japan where its all just green grass people training and playing games and stuff that would be a very good time to live in

  • you forgot about the 12 hour labouring in the rice fields.

  • wish i could find that type of music...

  • it's a odachi

  • Either that, or he is a Gnome.

  • he is for sure a gnome

  • what rpg did u get that character from?

  • the blade is too big, it shouldn't pass the meter i think they are 102 cm and that one was at least 1.5 m or more

  • its called a no-dachi, a massive blade wielded by some samurai units on the field

  • Firstly: all that clothing would greatky restrict a samurais movement, samurai had to be quick in battle

Secondly: He seems robotic, im sure swordsmen were more genius with their blades

  • kinda looks like something out of the first tenchu

  • any1 can do that (IRL)

  • Oh really?

But can they do it as well?

    that's them real question.

  • this is "Shogun: Total War". its when you get the "No-Dachi Samurai" in the game. and i must say, its a great game, but there are a bit of mistakes in it, such as, the Samurai here, has his left hand, right up next to his right hand, when its supposed to be at the bottom of the hilt

  • waow you'0re right lol

  • It's odd, not often do you see people with the correct grip in games (The Path of Neo makes me cringe with its sword grip double handed right in the center of the tsuka), no idea why

  • when he cuts dont bend the back thats a giant amature mistake.

  • Sword is way too big. Looks like the hand grip keeps changing. Moves are sluggish. Where's the saya?

  • i see

  • dude , its animated, , not that cool

  • dude i love this man its so cool

  • that looks like a o-katana

  • somebody forgot the saya....

  • ish't his left hand supposed to cover the bottom part of the hilt? (yes i am a newbie at kendo)

  • im gonna take a wild guess and say that this game was made in america. his grip is not supposed to be so closed together. its the fundamental rule that shows you who is an actual practitioner or kendo.

  • "kendo" hahahahahhahaha

  • the sword has the size of a suburi-boken, so I'm sure it's real, I just don't know what it's called

well, the moves are alright (but one of my teachers can do so much better with a japanese boken)

  • I loved that game ^_^.

  • The animation is very nice but those that have said that the sword is too large, even for a no-dachi, are quite correct.

  • yeah shogun total war. i knew it was from a game i played. but i wasn't sure until i saw a comment on that below.

  • Yeah, looks like he's using an o-dachi.

  • shogun total war

  • Thats cause it's a No-Dachi, Google it.

  • its from shogun total war

  • A este lo hago yo peazos... -.-

  • lol is this a computer animation? for the first 2 times i saw it i couldnt tell. Btw that sword is too big for a katana.

  • cool did you make this.
