Actually Chevelle is different from a lot of bands, their actually very brilliant and have very strong beliefs to their songs to prove that the "non-popular" are not "losers" but "winners" in their own lives. Like the song "I get it" explained that. They do have a emo-like style that is aggressive and dramatic. I just think that Chevelle is fucking amazing...

CheVelle is completely not emo they just speak of real life. Shitty things that unfortunately happen. Like "The Fad" of Vena Sera. I think this CD is way better than Vena Sera - it was a cool album and all, but it was border line emo. I liked Humanoid - sleepwalking elite - antisaint - brainiac - and safer waters though. But Scifi crimes has - Sleep Apnea - A new momentum - Mexican sun - This circus - The gist - Letos headache theres a ton of good songs on this album and the bonus tracks are all cool

@sillytragedy really? I liked Vena better than this album. I thought it was much edgier, better flow and guitar tones were very saturated and heavy. this album is much more simplistic and i thin k it can get boring from time to time. its also more melodic, less edgy. I think they really reached their stride when they tuned down to drop A tuning tho, so from This Type Of Thinking forward they really started sounding awesome. Although point number 1 was the most artistic and techinical record.

@thefallingdream agreed....although I dont see how Point# 1 was more artistic & technical... It was choppy & had odd time signatures, but if you listen to it now, and then put in SciFi crimes, the music & vocals have gotten 100x better and the creativity with the guitars & breakdowns aren't even comparable. Chevelle has evolved to elite status in my eyes, with only TOOL, Disturbed & Deftones ahead of them in this particular genre. I'm not even sure Disturbed is in the same genre ?

@Evolution10X there is no denying that the vocals have become the center piece of the band and gotten a million times better but I still like those raw first album types over the polished entity that bands become after seeing mainstream success like they have. so, point number 1 still is the most artistic, technical and raw in my opinion. im gonna pretend u didnt mention Disturbed also, hehehehe

@Evolution10X As far as i'm concerned, Disturbed doesn't belong in the same sentence as Tool or Chevelle. I used to love Disturbed, until they became unbelievably predictable. I only have to listen to 3 seconds of a song to know it's a new Disturbed song. They keep regurgitating the same crap over and over. I had mad respect for them, but to me they've been shitting into their hands and then handing it over to the record company as an "album".

@shreddinmetal4life I agree with you to an extent, however you can possibly listen to a song from their last album, such as Crucify and tell me it doesn't rip. They do the same shit over and over, but they are awesome at it. And their album Believe sounds like none of the others.

At this point in my life I only listen to disturbed when I work out or when I want to speed down Route 80, but they will always be one of those bands that I get fired up, when they release a new album.

@sillytragedy Everybody is entitled to their opinion which is great, but for me Vena Sera is a timeless album...hands down the best they've done. SciFi Crimes was great....i loved it...esp Sleep Apnea, this Circus, the opening with ANTISAINT & BRAINIAC proceeds to the middle meat w/ Well Enough Alone and the FAD and closing with songs like I GET IT and SATURDAYS...I would say Vena Sera is a 99/100 and SciFi is a 95/100
