Thanks! I did this tutorial purely based off a number of requests so if you want me to do one let me know. I've been super busy so I haven't been able to put up any videos but I hope to do at least one before the Spring semester.
@jwatanabe90 U should think about starting your own little drum tutoring class or something for a lil pocket money!!! Coz u are so practical and break it down awesome!
Would like to see you do one for Israel Houghton's - Turn it around when you have time :)
this is a real nice tutorial vid. but being useless at drums and failing at multi tasking, im kind of having trouble following the first/main beat. you know how you showed us a slower version, but was wondering if you could just tell me what to hit on what beat for a simpler(?) learning. sorry to bother you like this, but i really want to learn this song. been trying for hours and still not getting it =/
Ok, if you are having a hard time picking it up by ear I can try my best to explain it/write it out. Do you know how to count beats or read sheet music at all?
Hey man, you rock! I hope you continue to do these videos. I always look for Christian Drum tabs but there is only one site that I know of (mine), and I've had a hard time putting up new tabs. this video helps me TRMENDOUSLY!! Needed it for this weeks worship service.
thanks j . My pastor introduced this song to us Wed night at practice and wants to do it tomorrow (Sunday) Yikes!! so much to learn! I'm not that good. This tutorial saved my bacon
Ah! Thank you! This is my homework for the weekend before worship practice next week. :] Really enjoyed your other Desert song video... but this is even more helpful.
Thank You for the tutorial, very helpful... if possible ..can you please sometimes do the drum covers on Israel Houghton albums (for example: everywhere that i go) some of his songs has groove / funk beats that to difficult for beginner like me ... :) and i also have question on : how to learn the groove beats ...? and what number of stick that you are using?..thank you..God Bless you. ( Defi )
Thanks for the feedback! I can look into "Everywhere That I Go" and send you a video once I have time.
On your first question: I learn most of everything by ear, and over time you just get accustomed to picking out the drums. It helps to figure out the bass drum and snare first, then worry about the little things later. You don't have to copy the other drummer either, play it your own way.
On your second question: I play Vic Firth 5B, wood tip. My entire setup is listed on my page.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! Yeah the accents for the beat is a bit strange, which I think is why a lot of beginning or even intermediate drummers find it difficult.
Dude, you explained it brilliantly!

It was a Evans Power Center Reverse Dot. I replaced it recently with a Genera Dry I think. Both are great heads. Very different though.
