It's because his label Alphabasic is in legal battle with Apple. He used iTunes to get his artists names out there, but they aren't receiving any royalties on the music that's bought. My band had a similar problem.

You're refering to a note that's included in each torrent he uploads. If you download them, it basically says Apple is evil and he's glad you're torrenting it rather than giving money to apple.

His work is simply outstanding and I love it in every way.

M3 and Soundtrack to a Vacant Life are tied for his best album, though M3 has several amazing songs like Brown #12 and Amber Shores along with some mediocre (for him) ones while Soundtrack is consistently awesome but with no single track that compares to Brown #12. These Open Fields would probably be my 3rd favorite, though.
