Its because the bacon for the potato bowl is actually held in the cold wells. It is not heated, only heated if it is on the bowl and lid closed. I should know, I unfortunately work there

I got one today and yea you need the gravy to get a well balance.. other then that mine was pretty good today. for the price you cant beat it. I enjoyed it, i'll be getting it more often. But yea its a shame they used bacon bits instead of bacon.
