  • it's weird to see a layne tribute without listening to him... considering his unforgettable voice specially

  • Like the video but the song! PLEASE

  • I hope there is a heaven so Layne is at peace. One thing that strikes me and I hope everybody else, is that Layne was a little kid once, not the rockstar. He peed his pants, and thought his bike was the shit, and had an imperfect family as we all do. We are all of the same yarn. We are all connected.

  • fuckin bummin. peace and love to all

  • Wish you were here.Happy Birthday,Layney.

  • Happy Birthday Layne!!

  • He's the reason i hope theres a heaven...so i can finally meet him

  • Back in April to about July of '02, by hearing your voice everyday drinking and depressed at the American River(and with the grace of God) I was able to crawl out of a suicidal depression(your death added to it). We drove from Sac,CA to Seattle in '06 to see AIC and I wore a shirt that said I MISS LAYNE. Your mom walked up and gave me a hug and said "I miss Layne too."I was in shock, and never got to tell her what i'm telling you now.YOU SAVED MY LIFE LAYNE, I THANK YOU.Dave Lucero in Sacramento

  • @fukOsamazMama So awesome....

  • im still cryin. thanks for posting

  • this made me cry and smile at the same time RIP Layne

  • very nice, in the last five years or so i have realized how talented this man really was. the world will never be the same without him.

  • So beautiful. Thank you.

  • incredibly beautiful!

  • oh layne what have you done...

  • <3 Layne.. forever

  • I wish we could get Layne back he was too talented and cool. R.I.P. Layne we love you!!!!!!!

  • This might be a sensitive question, but...

Does anybody know of the names of any people who were "bad influences" on Layne? Any sycophants who encouraged his bad habits over the years, particularly toward the end? His dealer? Names would be very interesting...

  • @1776Matthew wish i knew, but im sure somebody has punished them by now. if not i hope karma breaks them so far down they dont know which way is up.

  • This video brought tears to my eyes

  • I may not have a fraction of the voice that Layne had but I make sure to dedicate all my band's performances to him :') dude saved my life countless times just from the sound of his voice

  • his name was GEL

  • fuck u all who dislike

  • I wish we could have Layne back. I lived not to far from his condo and sometimes you would see him and sometimes you wouldn't. I only talked to him a few times but didn't realize who it was unless he talked. He was pretty cool just never forgot that day they found him. I can remember cops, ambulances, the hearse and etc being there. RIP Layne love you

  • big man!

  • what a great loss....;-(

  • no excuses whould have been a better song for this but still good job on the video he is a rock legend.

  • Oh my God man you sad everything I couldn't explain about layne in my early days..

    Miss Him....

  • When I was a kid I looked up to this man, he was my definition of strenght and honesty. Plus he was cool as shit. Now im 35 years old and he seems so young and vulnerable. Still cool as shit though....

    RIP my friend........

  • @Noeldiego

Strength? Please elaborate on where this descriptor comes from. I respect layne's music and vision but his "strength" as a person.. or rather lack thereof seems to be what ended him. He knew how close to death he was.. could have turned shit around.. his choice to sit alone dosing up was a choice of weakness. I'm sorry to say...

    ..RIP layne.

  • @raistlin2031 Read my comment again and youll see we agree. The point is he was a young man that never got the chance to mature into his full potential. You can say it was his own fault and that he was weak, doesnt really matter now does it.

  • how he past away?

  • @TheName14100 Drug overdose. He was slowly killing himself with coke and heroin and was about 80 or 90 lbs when he died. Poor Layne, he was sad a good portion of his life and his addiction drove him to his own personal hell before his own death. But he will always be remebered by some of us fans at least. RIP Buddy!!!

  • @sexybisquit Fanboy!

  • @seattlehawkins Something is wrong upstairs, isn't it?

  • @TheName14100 A nigger killed him!

  • @seattlehawkins I hope a "Nigger" kills you!

  • at 2:16 looks like buddy holly

  • really nice clips!

    thank you!

  • No one can ever replace Layne, He was larger than life and a wonderful person as well as musician......We lost a great voice.............

  • Why do they all have that same look in their eyes? Why do we want to see what they see?

  • I think layne would vomit knowing his pictures were being flashed to such a pussy song. He hated this kind of music we should hunt down the Cunt that made this instead of him resting in peace he must be rolling around in his grave

  • @donovan5120 no we shouldnt. you malicious asshole, just enjoy the video.

  • merry xmas Layne <3 and this tittle must be "his name IS Layne"... Peace.

  • 18 people with no heart...

  • Why cant we have 50 Cent O.D. on drugs..

  • thanx 4 sharin' ~ longin' 4 Layne

  • I have to cry.

  • so beautiful Thank you stardriven for putting on a great tribute video. We all love Layne and his music and we always will forever. Because he was that good and that wonderful to his fans. He created something no band has ever created,. Thank you Layne and the rest of the band for being there for me when I need to listen to your music when i'm down in a hole myself

  • its the new name for the next alice in chains album, "his name was layne"

  • merci il me manque trop, j'ai pas pu me retenir de pleurer, merci à tous ces gens qui entretiennent sa mémoire, son talent, son oeuvre...pour qu'on n'oublie jamais cet homme, cet artiste.....R.I.P LAYNE

  • @zeroair4 I would gladly sell my soul for the chance that he could come back and change people the way he changed me. He was beautiful and real.

  • @zeroair4 moi aussi mais comme c'est impossible, il aurait certainement que ça continue pour nous tous, qui l'aimons...

  • Cara Layne Stanley e um genio porque ele canta com a alma diferente de muitos cantores! Alice in Chains Mad Season minhas bandas preferidas! Layne faz muita falta para seus fas!

  • nunca te olvidare lo jurooooo.

  • GRACIAS LAYNE POR TANTO.. SIEMPRE TE RECORDAREMOS!!!!

  • although i never knew you brother... your words and music have changed me so hard... it always kills you inside when you think of an awesome prescence that can no longer be in your prescence, seeing this vid tonight cracked my acceptance of early death once again....... miss you Barbara-jean.... i will be with you forever shortly...

  • maybe someday i catch him................

  • Happy birthday dear Layne...43

  • @andino444 Happy birthday my frend I never knew. But we are in this together. I know you are smiling now and you've crossed to a more peaceful place. Rest easy and maybe we'll see eachother one day. Thanks for all you gave us. :)

  • I think they thumbed down the theme song....it's so un-Layne.

  • Unique voice unique dude, RIP bro!!!!!

  • The star that burns twice as bright burns out twice as fast

  • i am workin on a new original about laynes passing and pains

  • The one and only!!

  • fuck you guyz! dis video makes me wanna cry! but luckily i manage to maintain it.

  • Amen

  • i miss him so much

  • the people who thumbed down a memorial should go to hell. thats what you contribute to a dead legend, and a memorial for him. that seriously ruined my day...

  • truly a good man lost

  • good job, very good job- man, i miss the bastard..so much- very well put together, thank you.

  • Layne! Rock on Layne!! we love you dude.

  • I saw Alice in Chains in 89 with 250 people in Atlanta at The Cotton Club. Layne had a gift and Layne was a gift to this world.RIP

  • check out my tribute to Layne

  • excellent

  • thank you man...hope he's in a better place now...rip Layne we'll miss you....

  • This is so beautiful. I'm crying.

  • amazing how such great men in great bands died like layne, kurt cobain, and andy wood. and then we got fuckin u2 and bono that continue to make shitty music

  • @RAYSHYLO77 um...learn history. U2 was around before AIC, Nirvana, and MLB. But with your point, ya I agree, the music nowadays has no heart or passion into it, only talkin about "baby, baby I love you" and "Bentleys, Benjamins, and Bitches". Todays music is definitely an epic fail lol

  • @WoWcrockpot I KNOW THIS IM JUST SAYING THAT CRAPPY BANDS LIKE U2 STILL MAKE MUSIC AND IT STILL SUCKS @SS. AND UR DEFINETLY RIGHT THATS ALL OUR NEW MUSIC SCENE IS. IM 16 AND ASHAMED OF MY GENERATIONS MUSIC. YA TOTALLY WHO WANTS TO GO TO MY HOUSE AND LISTEN TO SUM INSANE CLOWN POSSE? CAUSE WE ALL WANT TO LISTEN TO SONGS ABOUT BUTTHOLES AND CHILDISH SHIT LOL

  • @RAYSHYLO77 wow!!! a 16 y/o kid that knows his shit rock on kid wish more kids grew up like u. peace

  • @00NoFuN00 haha thanks dude, i love old music i even go back as far as led zepplin and the who. but my favorite hands down has always been nirvana, alice in chains, mother love bone, and pearl jam. i wish there were more kids like me also ive had half an hour conversations with my teachers on good music and the rest of my class has never even heard of grunge or has any idea what im talking about. huuh i wish i was born in the 80's so i coulda experienced it as it was happening.

  • @RAYSHYLO77 experienced the 90's as a teenager

  • grat tribute

  • He will be forever missed... great tribute!!

  • What a shame,a great talent gone forever because of some stupid shitass drugs! Some might say he's in heaven, but that doesn't matter to me because he's not here

  • @778899Tammy13 There's nowt wrong with being Ian Beale, for that's how we advanced as a planet in our own right. What is your opinion on the possibility of life elsewhere?

  • @778899Tammy13 thats true thats very true and i feel the same way but think if he was here hed probly still be on drugs, addicted, and miserable and wanting to die. the only good that came out of him passing was at least hes in peace now and not suffering. im glad he was around to make great music for as long as he did and i try and remember him as the man that changed seattle.

  • omg, this made me cry

  • His life was short but Layne's talent will live on forever, most people talks crap about his addiction or why the rest of the band didn't help him out but he knew all the time it was killing him and yet he couldn't fight it, so sad... A part of me died with him on April 20

  • @blankko84 you and me i think a lot changed that day we lost good music in general pick up a instrument and play

  • I dont know why but i feel a conection with layne since i know my birthday its the same of his birthday, its somenthing a really appreciate his expresion in music so powerful, all his songs has a real meaning in my life dude.

We miss you Layne you will never be forget, all your music i will share some day with my sons.

  • So beautiful. You making us all cry, now...

  • Its Good. I Cried. Its Too Sad.

  • Something tells me Layne wouldn't approve of this video... :-/

  • Great post....Layne was a a talented and beautiful soul, just tortured by his addiction. He was not here long enough but, what an impact this man had on music. Peace to Layne and Alice in Chains as we knew it.

  • I just want to cry.....................RIP Layne

  • Amazing singer and person. Crappy song in this tribute.

  • Amazing talent... awesome voice.... nothing todays music can been like him again, you felt his voice inside your soul and rip it out with the pain......Miss you Layne.. RIP

  • I hope to meet layne in the future. got to my vid and watch my tribute.

  • Incredible. It's 2010 and his loss still hurts. I'm 45 years old. An earlier post said it best - 'grunge and it's true intent and meaning diead with Layne. As the Stones intended to write 'pop' music that in fact was Cobain's attempt. Layne, much like Townsend, wrote from deep in their hearts - they looked for and translated 'meaning' into songs. THEY COME ALONG SO RARELY.

  • Such a beautiful man....Gone too soon. :(

  • i wonder why i have the EXACT same first name and the EXACT same middle name as him

  • REST IN PEACE Layne You are so missed.

  • Layne is a God !!!!not was,IS!

  • ~Simply Beautiful~

  • We miss u Layne.... really miss u....I hope to meet you someday...

  • Breaks my heart :(

It was really obvious how he looked worse and worse. So sorry he couldn't be saved. But atleast we have his (their) music <3

  • My heart hurts :(

  • Great! End of the innocence- Lil layne was really happy, the older person reminded me of an Alice Cooper song "i never cry"

  • R.I.P LANE STALEY.... I loved the tribute video. It showed a side that most never knew.

  • great tribute...layne 4ever

  • God damn, Layne was an incredible singer. It really is too bad he couldn't fight his heroin addiction. Rest in peace, Layne!

  • @craziness5932 He could have, he just chose not to, and shut him self off from the outside. A truly tragic story.

  • we love you layne

  • Tomorrow is 8 years since Layne left this earth. =( You'll never be forgotten Layne, we love and miss you! Thank you for your music, inspiration, and help through troublesome times.

  • I love that video. I loved Layne so much. Cool. I will always miss him. I am still listening to his music and always will. I will morn his death for a long time.

  • muy muy gay la musica...

  • this song has to be a joke... layne is rolling over in his grave listening to this shit

  • the music doesn't suit him at all! miss ya bro!

  • a wise man once said "life is like sailing a ship blind out on the big blue sea, and then the ship sinks" nobody lives forever

  • wtf with your music?

  • Whats up with the Lame music?

  • should put whale and the wasp over this

  • i love you layne!!

  • @dahiana44 hands up all who love lane!!!

  • He withered away to nothing from drug abuse until his body said enough is enough. It's a downright shame.

I don't understand this sort of addiction. I try to wrap my head around it and I just can't. They know what drugs can do and how addicting they are, yet they do it anyway, thinking "IT WONT HAPPEN TO Me". SAD!

  • wyldbutterfly, you're an idiot.

  • Thank you "elite" for your very grown up retort. (note the sarcasm)

  • you're welcome, moron.

  • just wish i couldve seen him in concert. im not crying, theres just something in my eye

  • RIP layne!!!

  • what a beautiful man

  • You asked us what we thought, of this video. Please don't take my words out of context, or as a criticism. Your work is a beautifully thought out & beautifully put together tribute. Honestly though, I have tried, 2 or 3 times, to watch this video; start to finish; I can't do it. Makes me cry. Your collection of pix is amazing, but the music is fucking depressing. I think a more fitting tribute to Layne Staley would be HIS music. I will try to watch the whole thing, I promise. Peace Out!!

  • Dammit, all fuckin real great ones of rock are fuckin dead: Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, John Bonham, Sid Vicious, Jimmi Hendrix, Morrison. Layne was, and not Kurt, as many tend to think, the last martyr of Rock. After this generation, music is stuck in bullshit like coldplay and brit-sissy-ass bands and emo shit, I fuckin hate music nowadays

  • @doctorsensual77 true man lets hope that this decade wont be as shit as the last one i want a full rock revival

  • Death like music is a part of like if they didn't die then they would of died later and honestly they ain't dead there songs keepem alive. Shit an your right music is shity theses days its just times change people stay the same.

  • @doctorsensual77 dude im 16 years old and i agree 100%. my generations music scene is sad. its all either scremo, or wussy like u2

  • @RAYSHYLO77 your generations music doesnt suck. thing is you dont know where to look and you dont really seem to know what your talking about.... so you say U2 is from YOUR generation?

  • @giesteiraroberto ya i no u2 isnt from my generation but were im from in my small town everyone listens to u2 so i always say there from my generation, i know they were out before. and idk sum music is good nowadays but nothing like aic. i like disturbed and staind and others but theres nothing as good or ever will be as good as the 90's

  • Great tribute man. Really emotional. Nice footage as well.

  • fuck this is wut drugs fucking do to you! they kill you and tear u apart and u lose ur family and frends. dont fucking mess ur life up.

  • ive been watching AIC for about 2 hours now and its kept me alive tonight...

  • I understand that feeling ...

  • Layne Staley in no way was a perfect human being but he was one of the biggest blessings this world has seen. His music has touched me and I'm sure many of you too in so many ways. I was not into his music until just a few years ago but I would give anything I've got to go back in time and go to just one show of them in their prime.

Absolutely amazing human being. R.I.P. Layne Staley. We all miss you.

  • amen...he seems like he was a great guy he was funny and had a great voice...i hope hes well

  • I am not a person to follow celebrities or mourn their passing but Layne's death destroyed me when I heard it that day almost 8 years ago, Ironically I had written a letter to him a month before he died and opened it recently. I cried like a baby. We miss you, Layne. Rest now, brother.

  • Nice tribute. I never listened to AIC after his death. I just let it go. The new album is good--definitely AIC soiund. And I am re-visiting all that AIC was and I just have appreciation for AIC and Layne now.

  • That was very touching and beautiful thank you. The world is a colder place without Layne's awesome voice. Atleast now he can rest and be with God. I'm sorry he struggled so much. I've watched friends and family struggle with addiction and have lost a close friend to it. It's so hard and so sad esp when there is nothing we can do about it because they're so hooked. We try but the person has to want to stop. Until then it's impossible it seems.

  • to everyone on page.addiction is a really tuff thing my mom was an addict and i can tell u from experience it takes the most beautiful people and turns them into shit.i love layne but i think when he got on the drugs he lost sight of who he really was like all addicts.i hate the drug dealers myself i believe they are taken away the good people in this world but most of them are addicts to.drugs have a way of changing u and taken away ur soul its not the persons fault but the drugs.dont do drugs

  • Im sorry man. I can relate to, my mom is an alcoholic. Its hard to watch somone u love just fall apart like that

  • oh it really is.well see my real father was an alcoholic and mom was to but then she discovered crystal meth and cocaine and she went from 200 pounds to less than a hundred.its pretty bad when ur mom weighs less than u.she is in recovery now been clean for about three years and holding strong i so proud of her.i alomst lost her 4 times when she was an addict i actually was the one to save her life.everyone needs a lil help now and then
