That abcess is NOTHING compared to what i had on my ass. It was the size of a freakin orange (or bigger!)! I have a golf ball size hole in my right cheek as we speak...horrible pain. Ugh.

I had this done for a MRSA abscess on 01/09. I foolishly went to an Urgent Care, and the Dr. did NOT use anesthetic!! The entire procedure lasted ~ 2 minutes, from incision to insertion of the drain tube. I was pissed.

I agree about the lidocane. I tore up my pinky finger a while back and required 14 stitches - The first couple of lidocane injections hurt worse than the initial injury. However, it only lasts for about 2 seconds and then it's as numb as a stone.

I just had mine done two days ago on the same leg just on the other side the most painful part is the shot of lidocane they give you! That shit burns! But other then that I was pretty numb and didn't really feel anythinh.

You want to get all of the surrounding subcutaneous tissue by going in multiple directions. If you don't, and you hit an unanaesthetized, it will hurt like a mother.

it depends on the person: local aneasthetic has no effect on me whatsoever, and general anaesthetic put me in a coma but for most people morphene does work. unless you are a doctor you have no idea about the chemical processes.

I had this exact same thing happen to me and it sucked. The only difference is that the skin above mine was in tact before the surgery - I had an infected hair folicle that turned into a zit and got worse and worse; it looks like she had a cut or something, 'cause you can see the slight abrasion on the surface. The worst part was getting injected with the anesthetic. That area of your body (inner thigh) is so sensitive to begin with and the infection made it really, really tender.

this happened to me on my face, it was much worse, same exact procedure, needle with novacaine to numb, then lance, then the wick, so it can drain, hope they gave u some good pain medicine

She had a small cut or something (prob from shaving) and a certain bacteria got into it. The bump just kept on growing and growing I guess, and she had to have all the puss removed from the inside. It could happen to anyone...
